Ronnie O’Sullivan has been named the World Snooker Tour Player of the Year for the first time since 2014.

The 48-year-old won five titles during the 2023-24 season, including the UK Championship and Masters.

O’Sullivan, who was beaten in the quarter-finals of the World Championship by Stuart Bingham, was also crowned winner in the fans’ and journalists’ player of the year categories.

Having won the main Player of the Year prize in 2012 and 2014, it is the third time O’Sullivan has won the category in its current form.

He was first named Player of the Year in 1994, when the prize was overseen by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA).

O’Sullivan won the award four times in eight years between 2001 and 2008, when it was under the Snooker Writers’ Association and then the WPBSA again.

Kyren Wilson, who won the World Championship on Monday, took the Performance of the Year prize for his displays at the Crucible.

Luca Brecel, the 2023 winner, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
