Occasional Digest - a story for you

Past Lives, May December and American Fiction lead the nominees at the Independent Spirit awards, which are being handed out this morning.

The awards, known as Indy Spirit or simply Spirit Awards, aim to highlight movies made outside the big studio blockbuster system and are open to films with a budget of less than $US30 million. That means Oscar contenders such as Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers Of The Flower Moon and even Poor Things (with an oh-so-close reported budget of $US35 million) are ineligible.

Here are all the nominees in all categories, covering film television and new talent. Winners are being updated live, so refresh this page to see the latest results.
