Predictions that Wagner will soon make it all the way to Moscow

A British military officer who correctly predicted the Wagner Group coup attempt said the mercenaries could be at the doors of the Kremlin within 24 hours.

Colonel Hamish de Bretton Gordon, who is now retired, previously told The Sun that he thought warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin could march on Moscow in a “Roman-style” rebellion.

Speaking today, the officer said: “It is sort of like Caesar being stabbed in the back by those he thought were fighting for him.”

He went on: ” They’ve moved pretty rapidly,  there doesn’t seem to be any resistance….I think it is very possible that the Wagner group will make it all the way to Moscow – from there, it’s whether the ‘Praetorian’ guard stays to fight.

“The next 24 to 48 hours will be crucial, we could well see the implosion of Putin.”

Colonel de Bretton Gordon added there is a risk of nuclear armageddon if Russia starts to fall to pieces and descend into chaos.

He said: “Western leaders, particularly the UK and US, should sit back and watch the Russians defeat themselves, but we must make sure that there is no chance that nuclear escalation.”

Russia’s elites are now like “scorpions trying to kill each other”, said the colonel, and he added Putin is likely “on the phone to Tehran or North Korea”.

He added: “The momentum is very much behind Prigozhin at the moment, and I expect if they get to the Kremlin, then that it’s all over, it’s curtains for Putin. I don’t think the Russian army have got the stomach for this fight.

“They’ve been fighting for 16 months and dying in their tens of thousands. And I expect now they see it as an opportunity potentially for a fresh start.”
