The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II is about to leave Scotland for the final time to make its way to Buckingham Palace after lying at rest for a day at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.

When will the Queen’s body arrive in London?
The flight from Edinburgh Airport to Northolt will take around an hour, and is scheduled to touch down around 6:30pm local time (or around 3:30am AEST if you’re a night owl).
It’ll then take another hour or so once the coffin has been unloaded from the plane to be driven to Buckingham Palace.
King Charles is expected to be at Northolt when the C-17 touches down.

Queen Elizabeth has left Scotland for the final time
The RAF C-17 carrying the Queen’s coffin has just taken off from Edinburgh Airport as the sun begins to set over Scotland.
As it began to taxi down the runway, one verse of national anthem was played by a band on the tarmac, with the Guard of Honour giving one final royal salute.

The Queen’s coffin has been loaded onto the plane
After making the journey from St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, the Queen’s coffin was carried onboard the RAF C17 aircraft, draped in the Royal Standard of Scotland, adorned with a wreath made of flowers from the Balmoral estate.
A number of dignitaries, including Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon were on the tarmac to witness the plane take flight.
The coffin will be accompanied by Princess Anne on the flight to London, where King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will meet them.

The Queen’s coffin is on its way to London
After lying at rest in St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh for the past day, Queen Elizabeth II’s body is about to leave Scotland for the final time.
The coffin is on its way to Buckingham Palace on board a Royal Air Force aircraft, and is accompanied by her daughter, Princess Anne, who is an Air Chief Marshall in the Royal Air Force.
