Liberal staffer accused of raping Brittany Higgins on a Parliament House couch learns when he will stand trial

The man accused of sexually assaulting former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins will stand trial at the end of the month.

Bruce Lehrmann, charged with sexual intercourse without consent, has pleaded not guilty to assaulting Ms Higgins at Parliament House in 2019.

He will stand trial on June 27.

Mr Lehrmann was previously expected to face a six-week trial starting last Monday.

But days before the trial was due to begin, it has emerged his barrister was unable to appear for him.
