Inside evil Southport killer’s cushy jail life where he STILL gets Maltesers, crisps & other treats despite guard attack

SOUTHPORT monster Axel Rudakubana can still buy jail treats such as Maltesers and McCoy’s despite attacking a guard with boiling water.

The triple killer, 18, has them served by officers in his cell at London’s Belmarsh Prison.

Child killer and jail attack fiend Axel Rudakubana last night faced calls for his canteen privileges to be stripped immediately — with a source saying: “It’s shocking and disgusting he still has these rights.”

Rudakubana — serving at least 52 years for killing three girls at a dance class — is also allowed to call family, have religious visits and receive money from relatives while at Belmarsh, South East London.

A source said: “He’s been spending £5.50 a week in the canteen since the attack, and can spend it on anything he likes as long as it’s not dangerous.

“He’s still allowed to buy things like Maltesers and Pringles crisps if he fancies them.”

Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick led outrage at the treatment of Rudakubana.

He said: “I cannot believe this monster has been allowed to keep these privileges. It’s a disgrace.

“He should be stripped of them immediately, no questions asked.

“It’s the least the victims of his horrendous crime would expect. We’ve got to regain control of prisons before an officer is killed.”

Since the attack Rudakubana has been busted down to a “basic” regime which means his TV has been removed and his time out of his cell has been limited.

Our source added: “He is mostly confined to his cell. He fills in a sheet and stuff gets delivered.

Southport fiend Axel Rudakubana hurled scalding water over prison guard in ‘terrifying’ attack putting victim in hospital

“That means that prison officers, who are the colleagues of the guy he attacked, have to collect his canteen order and deliver it to his cell.

‘Array of goods’

“It’s made some angry and upset.

“The array of goods on the canteen list is quite staggering and it has all the decent brands.

“He can also buy toiletries, vitamins, drinks and biscuits.

“He’s not spending much because he’s on basic level and doesn’t have a job due to the danger he poses.

“But the principle of it is shocking — and he’s been spending what he can every week since the attack. It’s very rare for a governor to completely strip a prisoner of canteen rights but I’d say this is an instance where it’s justified.

“He’s also been able to call his family and had a bit of money sent in to him despite the attack.”

Lags at Belmarsh can buy goods including Cadbury Twirl bars, Haribo Starmix bags, McCoy’s crisps, Diet Coke, Vimto, vitamins, fruit and cereals like Shredded Wheat and Ready Brek.

Also on offer are “I Love You” cards, draughts sets, prayer mats, cross pendants and prayer hats. But Rudakubana is barred from buying anything that could be turned into a weapon.

That includes tins of tuna, after the jagged edge of a can was used to slash Sara Sharif’s killer dad Urfan at Belmarsh in January.

Rudakubana is also banned from buying butter or baby oil which could be heated for an attack.

Police are investigating the “serious assault” he allegedly carried out at Belmarsh on May 8.

The fiend was allowed a kettle and is believed to have used it to boil water.

His supervision had been downgraded weeks earlier.

The officer was taken to hospital but escaped serious injury and is believed to have returned to work.

Rudakubana struck weeks after Manchester Arena terrorist Hashem Abedi, 28, stabbed and burned four officers at Frankland jail, Durham.

Rudakubana is also said to have had visits from an imam since his attack.

But he has been barred from religious ceremonies for fears he would be targeted.

Inmates in UK jails have rights including protection from bullying, access to a solicitor and healthcare plus the right to communication and to make complaints.

All other privileges have to be earned, and cons can have their time out of cells severely restricted.

Inmates who behave can become “enhanced” prisoners and earn the right to spend more money and watch TV.

Another source said: “It’s fairly unheard of to strip someone of the canteen. But a lot of the public would think it should be done here.

“The issue they have is they need to keep him happy and stop legal complaints. Certain prisoners are experts at knowing their rights.

“They were planning to move Rudakubana but the transfer has been delayed by the lack of an alternative.

“The natural place would be the separation centre at Frankland. But, ironically, that’s been closed down while the attack by Abedi is investigated.”

Rudakubana was jailed in January for the murders of Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine.

The Prison Service said it did not comment on individuals.

Timeline of events related to the Southport stabbings

AXEL Rudakubana has pleaded guilty to the murders of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, and 10 counts of attempted murder.

Here is a timeline of events relating to the case:

2002: Rudakubana’s father Alphonse moves to the UK from Rwanda, according to an interview he gave to his local newspaper in Southport in 2015.

August 7, 2006: Rudakubana is born in Cardiff, Wales.

2013: The family – including Rudakubana’s father, mother and older brother – move from Wales to Banks in Lancashire, a few miles from Southport.

July 29, 2024: Shortly before midday, a knifeman enters a dance class at The Hart Space in Hart Street in Southport.

Bebe, Elsie and Alice are fatally wounded. Eight other children are injured, as are instructor Leanne Lucas and businessman John Hayes.

Police say they have detained a male and seized a knife.

Within hours, claims spread online that the suspect is an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat in 2023.

Some claims include an alleged identity.

July 30, 2024: In the evening, a peaceful vigil is held outside Southport’s Atkinson arts venue, where flowers are laid in memory of those who died.

Shortly after the vigil, a separate protest begins outside the town’s mosque in St Luke’s Road.

People throw items towards the mosque, property is damaged and police vehicles are set on fire.

July 31, 2024: Demonstrators gather in Whitehall, London, for an “Enough Is Enough” protest.

Flares and cans are thrown at police and more than 100 people are arrested.

Disorder also breaks out in Hartlepool, County Durham, and Aldershot, Hampshire.

August 1, 2024: Police announce that Rudakubana has been charged with the murders of Bebe, Elsie Dot and Alice, 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.

He is not named by police because of his age.

He appears in court in Liverpool and Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Andrew Menary KC rules he can be named, as he is due to turn 18 in a week.

He initially smiled on entering the courtroom – then kept his face covered by his sweatshirt for the remainder of the proceedings before the case was adjourned.

Later that evening, demonstrators gather outside a hotel in Newton Heath, Manchester.

August 2, 2024: Three police officers are taken to hospital after disorder in Sunderland.

August 3, 2024: There are scenes of violence during planned protests across the UK, including in Liverpool, Hull, Nottingham and Belfast.

August 4, 2024: Disorder continues, including outside a Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, where masked demonstrators launch lengths of wood and sprayed fire extinguishers at police officers.

August 5, 2024: The Government holds an emergency Cobra meeting in the wake of the disorder and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer vows to “ramp up criminal justice”.

That evening, a peaceful vigil is held in Southport, a week on from the killings. Police deal with disorder in Plymouth, Devon and Darlington, County Durham.

August 7, 2024: Prison sentences for those involved in the unrest begin to be handed out. Derek Drummond, 58, is the first person to be jailed for violent disorder at Liverpool Crown Court, where he is sentenced to three years.

More than 100 protests are planned for across the country, with counter-demonstrations taking place, but the majority of police forces report very little trouble.

October 29, 2024: Merseyside Police announces Rudakubana will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink the next day charged with production of a biological toxin, Ricin, and possession of information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing to commit an act of terrorism.

October 30, 2024: Rudakubana appears at Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink from HMP Belmarsh to face the two new charges.

He holds his sweater over the bottom half of his face and does not respond when asked to confirm his name.

November 13, 2024: Rudakubana appears at Liverpool Crown Court via videolink. He covers his face with his grey sweatshirt and does not speak throughout the hearing.

About 20 family members of victims sit in the public gallery. The case is adjourned until December 12, when a preparatory hearing will take place.

January 20, 2025: Rudakubana appears at Liverpool Crown Court for the first day of his trial where he pleads guilty to all 16 charges, including the murders of Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven.

Real reason Oasis reunited – and it’s all down to woman who has already picked the setlist including rarely heard hits

IT is the biggest reunion in rock – but Oasis’s comeback may not have happened at all if it hadn’t been for some delicate, behind-the-scenes diplomacy by one particular person.

Step forward Anais Gallagher, Noel’s eldest daughter, who has been revealed as the gutsy go-between who has seemingly pulled off what years of fan pleading and big-money offers failed to do.

And the plucky model has even had a hand in helping shape the band’s set list, by providing crucial insight into what the Mancunian legendsGen-Z fans might want to hear on the 41-date reunion tour.

The Sun can reveal that Anais, who is from Noel’s first marriage to Meg Mathews, worked tirelessly to reconcile her dad and uncle following Noel’s split from Sara MacDonald.

So Anais, 25, figured the breakdown of her dad’s marriage could be an opportunity to get her old man back together with his feisty brother and the band that made him a megastar.

An insider said: “Anais was one of the biggest sources of comfort and support for Noel following his divorce.

“She was the one that was helping him get back on his feet and return to doing things he loved that had fallen by the wayside.

“Over the years, Noel had offered an olive branch to Liam, but he’d never taken it up.

“Anais could tell her dad really wanted both his brothers, Liam and Paul, by his side after the split so was determined to get them back in touch.

Fighting with Noel

“She gets on great with Liam’s sons Gene and Lennon so she asked them if their dad would be willing to hear her out.

“They said they thought he would be receptive, so she then asked Liam to reach out to his brother to lend support.

“Liam’s always wanted Oasis back together so he got in touch.”

Ironically, the Wonderwall crooners fell out back in May 2000 because Liam allegedly questioned the paternity of Anais while fighting with Noel in Spain — leading Noel to leave the band for a second time.

Anais has maintained a close relationship with outspoken Liam, who is saved in her phone as “uncle”.

Anais, who has modelled for Dolce and Gabbana, is close friends with her cousins Gene, 23, and Lennon, 25, and the group often go on nights out together.

Anais was one of the biggest sources of comfort and support for Noel following his divorce

Fans had hoped Noel’s divorce would lead to a reconciliation for the band, but they were left hanging for more than a year.

The source said: “It was all very slow-going behind the scenes to get the brothers talking again.

“Anais spending so much time with her dad allowed her to realise how much he missed his brother, despite  the jibes they both made.

“It enabled her to plant the idea of a reconciliation on both sides. Thanks to her close relationship with Liam, she was able to call him.

“She worked hard to make sure they didn’t look back in anger, if you like.

“Once Liam called Noel, the rest was left up to them.”

The brothers announced their reunion in August last year, sparking a frenzy as  fans went into overdrive to get their hands on tickets.

It’s expected that the band will make millions from their world tour, which kicks off in July.

And in further good news for Liam, he is about to become a grandfather for the first time.

His daughter Molly Moorish, 27,  announced two weeks ago she was expecting her first child with Liverpool  footballer boyfriend Nathaniel Phillips.

Molly, whose mother Lisa had a short-lived relationship with Liam in 1998, was estranged from her dad for 19 years but they are reconciled.

In interviews, Anais said: “With my family, what you see is what you get. They are really hard-working people.

“With my dad, I would always go to him for help or advice — it’s very funny that a rock star from the 90s is like the most level-headed person I know.

“He’s definitely the guiding force in my life.”

Liam’s always wanted Oasis back together so he got in touch

And it’s safe to say that Anais has Noel’s ear.

Last month, The Sun revealed that she had encouraged her dad to distance himself from disgraced comedian Russell Brand.

Limit hangovers

Brand has been charged with rape and sexual assaults relating to four women. He has denied all the allegations.

A source said: “Anais realised that her dad’s close links to Brand wasn’t a good look.

“She’s very PR savvy. There was a discussion and Noel agreed cutting ties was best.

“Anais, Noel, and the rest of the family are horrified at Brand’s alleged behaviour and had no idea what was going on.”

And her influence on Noel doesn’t end there.

She is helping to run her dad’s social media and is on his company’s payroll.

The source said: “Anais does a lot on social media to make money, so it’s a natural fit for her to help her dad out.

“She knows what does and doesn’t work for Generation Z, whereas Noel doesn’t.

“It’s given them more of a chance to bond.

“Noel hired her because she is genuinely good at her job, not because she is his child.”

The dedicated daughter is also helping with the song selection for the tour.

The source added: “Anais has helped with the tour set list by looking at what has done well on TikTok with the younger generation.

“As a result, [the song] Bonehead’s Bank Holiday will be played live by Oasis for the first time.

“They’ll also play Digsy’s Dinner, and Talk Tonight.

“She wants to help Oasis gain younger fans as well as their long-standing fans.”

The Oasis reunion announcement has been marred by older fans hitting out at younger people getting tickets, something Anais has been very vocal about on social media.

On TikTok, she wrote: “One thing I won’t stand for is the ageism and the misogyny around people getting tickets.

“Sorry, if a 19-year-old girl in a pink cowboy hat wants to be there, I will have my friendship bracelets ready.”

Grumpy fans have claimed that the band would hate stuff put up by young people on TikTok.

Sometimes people put this hyper-aggressive masculine ideology into what they think that my dad and my uncle are going to be like

Anais Gallagher

In an interview with Hello! Anais hit back, saying they were wrong.

She told the magazine: “I see this all the time, actually, where someone will post a funny video or a cover song and people would say ‘[Oasis] would hate this’.

“No, no, you hate this.

“Sometimes people put this hyper-aggressive masculine ideology into what they think that my dad and my uncle are going to be like.

“They’re actually a lot more accepting than the fans are.”

Anais plans to be stage-side to support her father throughout the reunion run.

She joked in an interview that her aims for the year were to: “Limit the amount of hangovers I have after all the Oasis concerts, remember to take my supplements and drink a lot of water.”

Whether she can manage to keep her dad and uncle in a similar state remains to be seen.

Dad-of-two Blunt was suspended by his party and told to stay away from Parliament.

He denied wrongdoing and accused the person behind the allegation of attempted extortion.

Yesterday Surrey Police confirmed there was insufficient evidence to proceed over claims of rape.

Mr Blunt, who stood down as MP for Reigate last year, remains under investigation for drug possession.

A second man, in his 50s, is being investigated for the same alleged offence.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “An investigation was launched following a report of rape in October 2023.

“Extensive enquiries have been carried out and a man in his 60s and a man in his 50s were arrested on 25 October 2023 in Horley in connection with the offence.

“It has since been determined that there is insufficient evidence to proceed and that no further action will be taken against either of the men in relation to the report of rape.

“However, both men will remain under investigation on suspicion of possession of controlled substances pending further enquiries.

“Enquiries into this matter are ongoing.”

Greggs’ sausage roll gets it own waxwork at Madame Tussauds – as Brits chomp 365million every year

GREGGS’ sausage roll is being honoured with its own wax figure at Madame Tussauds.

The iconic savoury treat’s effigy will be unveiled at the attraction for National Sausage Roll day next week.

It will be displayed on a regal blue velvet cushion, sitting on a plinth and accompanied by a plaque, which salutes the “significant contribution it delivers to Britain’s culinary heritage”.

For a limited time, it will take its place alongside the likes of William Shakespeare, Sir David Attenborough and Stormzy at the London wax museum’s Culture Capital zone, dedicated to those who have shaped Britain.

Greggs chief exec Roisin Currie said: “Seeing our sausage roll receive the celebrity treatment is a proud and slightly surreal moment for all of us at Greggs.”

The model snack was crafted at Madame Tussauds’ London studio following the same process used for human figures.

Artists spent hours ensuring it was correct in every detail.

The plaque notes Greggs was founded in 1951 — and that 365million of its sausage rolls, each with 96 layers of flaky pastry, are bought every year.

It is the first time that an individual food item has been so honoured at the attraction.

Jo Kinsey, studio manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “The Greggs sausage roll is synonymous with British culture — we just had to put it in our Culture Zone.

“Our artists have put in numerous hours to capture every detail. The pressure was on to capture it perfectly because we know how passionate Brits are about their favourite pastry.”

Britain’s top cop slams Labour plans to slash jail time and says officers will be overwhelmed

BRITAIN’S top cop has criticised Labour plans to slash jail time — saying police will struggle to cope with the surge in crime.

Met Police boss Sir Mark Rowley warned putting more criminals back on the street risked overwhelming officers.

Labour plans include scrapping most short sentences, releasing lags after a third of time served and monitoring with tags to free up cellsCredit: Alamy

He accused the Government of doing “no analysis whatsoever” on the impact of freeing thousands and risking the prospect of “generating a lot of work for police”.

He told the BBC: “Every time you put an offender into the community, a proportion of them will commit crime, a proportion of them will need chasing down by the police.”

But the Ministry of Justice hit back in the war of words, saying its top priority was to “keep people safe”.

Standing by its changes, it said: “That is why we are building prisons faster than at any time since the Victorian era and, through our sentencing reforms, we will make sure the public are never again put at risk of running out of prison places.”

Sources also insisted a full impact assessment on early release is under way.

The Sun revealed last week Sir Mark was among senior officers who wrote to Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood questioning prison reforms.

Her plans include scrapping most short sentences, releasing lags after a third of time served and monitoring with tags to free up cells.

Sir Mark said: “If probation are going to spend more money on trying to reform offenders, reduce their repeat offending, that’s fantastic.

But a proportion will be committing further offences because probation can’t do a perfect job — it’s impossible.”

The Scotland Yard chief also said forces are still “carrying the scar tissue of years of austerity cuts”.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan backs calls to decriminalise possessing ‘small quantities’ of cannabis

SIR Sadiq Khan has backed calls to decriminalise possessing small amounts of cannabis.

London’s mayor said a report published today gave “a compelling case”.

The London Drugs Commission says current cannabis laws are “disproportionate” and policing continues to focus on ethnic communities, hurting relations with cops.

The LDC, set up by Mr Khan in 2022, is calling for small quantities of natural cannabis to be decriminalised.

Importing, manufacturing or distributing the drug would still be illegal.

Labour’s Mr Khan said: “The report makes a compelling case for the decriminalisation of small quantities of natural cannabis which the Government should consider.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “Cannabis is illegal for a reason. I oppose these plans.”

Responding to the report, Sir Sadiq said: “I’ve long been clear that we need fresh thinking on how to reduce the substantial harms associated with drug-related crime in our communities.

“The London Drugs Commission report makes a compelling, evidenced-based case for the decriminalisation of possession of small quantities of natural cannabis which the Government should consider.

“It says that the current sentencing for those caught in possession of natural cannabis cannot be justified given its relative harm and people’s experience of the justice system.

“We must recognise that better education, improved healthcare and more effective, equitable policing of cannabis use are long overdue.”

Liverpool car horror proves police transparency must always apply — whoever is to blame

Open justice

WHEN an incident unfolds as shocking and horrific as the car ramming at Liverpool FC’s trophy parade, the public has a right to know as much information as possible, as quickly as possible.

Following Axel Rudakubana’s murderous rampage in Southport last July, silence from the authorities allowed conspiracy theory, rumour and deliberate disinformation to fester online.

Merseyside Police's Assistant Chief Constable giving a press conference.

1

Police were right to swiftly reveal details after the Liverpool car horrorCredit: PA

This, in turn, fuelled terrible scenes of violence and destructive riots.

By revealing the ethnicity and age of the arrested suspect in the Liverpool incident within two hours – and swiftly ruling out terrorism – the police stopped malicious or kneejerk attempts to spread false narratives.

They were right to do so, and local politicians have expressed their support for the decision.

It’s a welcome step back from recent sinister attempts by police and Government to muzzle our free press.

READ MORE FROM THE SUN SAYS

But the real test of our authorities’ new-found spirit of sensible openness will come the next time there is a tragic incident or terrorist attack.

As Jonathan Hall, the Government’s terror law reviewer, points out: “The lesson has been learnt, don’t give any fuel to the conspiracy merchants.

“You’ve got to roll with it.

“If it had been a Muslim, an Asian, a black man or woman, they would have to say that.

“You’ve got to be fully consistent.”

Having now embraced transparency, the public will not understand why they shouldn’t always be given the full picture by the cops.

Whatever that may be.

Four kids among 47 injured after white British man, 53, ‘ploughed’ car into Liverpool FC parade as cops rule out terror

E-bike blitz

CRACKING down on lower-level crime is known to help prevent more serious offences later on.

So Government moves to crush mopeds, bikes and e-scooters used by criminal yobs within 48 hours rather than weeks to curb re-offending should be applauded.

Just one problem: how does this get-tough approach sit with Labour’s prison reforms

After all, they will mean thugs convicted of crimes which should attract a 12 months sentence are now a lot less likely to go to jail?

Reform rebirth

BRITAIN isn’t having enough kids.

Instead, we have come to rely on importing more and more young workers from overseas in a faltering bid to get the economy growing, and pay the bills for our ageing society.

Nigel Farage’s proposed tax breaks for married couples could help to reverse that damaging long-term trend.

Making it more affordable for young parents to have children is key.

Royal Caribbean last week announced its second Perfect Day destination off Mexico, opening in 2027, which will include a waterpark with 30 slides, the longest lazy river in the world, adults-only beach clubs and a host of bars and restaurants.

Lisa Minot looks at existing private islands you can cruise to.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN

IT was Royal who upped the ante with the launch of its revamped Perfect Day at Coco Cay in 2019.

The £185million transformation of its Bahamas island included a new pier, thrill rides and chill zones.

There are seven beaches to laze beside the warm waters and six pools, including Oasis Lagoon, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean with swim-up bar and in-water loungers.

The Thrill Waterpark has 14 slides including the tallest in North America while Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon are perfect places for the kids to play.

There’s complimentary food at four restaurants as well as a host of bars and shops.

The adult-only Hideaway Beach opened in January last year and, for an extra charge, over-18s can enjoy a private beach, two pools, seven bars and two restaurants.

Also available to book for an extra charge are overwater cabanas, a zipline and tethered hot air balloon as well as kayak tours and snorkelling excursions.

GO: A week full-board on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas is from £1,064pp, sailing from Miami on November 8 and calling at St Maarten, St Thomas and Perfect Day at Coco Cay.

MSC CRUISES

WITH its signature stripey lighthouse and two miles of white sand beaches, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas is a regular port of call for MSC cruise ships.

They sail from their new private terminal in Miami as well as Port Canaveral in Florida and New York, including MSC World America, which made its debut in April.

The Italian cruise line has transformed a former sand excavation site in the last ten years, planting more than 75,000 trees and bringing back marine life and birds.

A newly-opened conservation centre on the island allows guests to discover their achievements and includes a land-based coral nursery and fully-equipped bio-lab.

But cruise guests will also appreciate the island’s laid-back vibe with food trucks and restaurants offering Bahamian specialities, barbecue classics, snacks and oodles of ice cream and beach bars serving tropical cocktails.

There’s a chance to explore the underwater wonders with snorkelling, kayak, paddle board and windsurfing excursions.

For a bit of luxury, you can relax in a cabana or take a sunset champagne cruise.

GO: Seven nights’ full-board on MSC World America is from £649pp.

Sailing from Miami on September 13, the cruise calls at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

See msccruises.com.

HOLLAND AMERICA/CARNIVAL

ONE of the original private island pioneers, the Holland America line first started calling at RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas in 1997 and it has been expanding its presence there ever since.

In summer next year, a major upgrade will see a new beach club and lunch venue on its original facilities on the south of the island’s stunning two-mile crescent of powder-soft white sand as well as a new pier at the north end of the beach that will be used by both Holland America and its sister cruise line Carnival.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy horseback riding along the shore, snorkelling, jet skiing, and stingray encounters.

Families will love the Half Moon Lagoon Aqua Park, while nature enthusiasts can explore eco-tours and birdwatching.

Unique experiences include glass-bottom boat tours and a pirate ship-themed bar.

With beach sports, shopping and complimentary barbecue lunches, this is a high-end island escape for cruisers.

GO: A 14-night full-board Western & Eastern Caribbean cruise on Holland America’s Zuiderdam is from £1,379pp, departs Miami on November 8 and calls at Half Moon Cay, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Mexico, Miami, Bahamas, Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, Turks & Caicos.

DISNEY

MICKEY Mouse and pals now have two private islands to enjoy in the Bahamas.

Their original, Castaway Cay, opened in 1998 as part of the launch of the new cruise line.

And last year, they opened Lookout Cay.

As you would expect, there is a huge amount of fun activities for kids including kids’ clubs for three to 17-year-olds.

The family beach features plenty of umbrellas, chairs and hammocks plus tube and float rentals and an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.

Water babies will love Pelican Plunge, a huge floating platform featuring water slides and cannons.

Spring-a-Leak is a water play area with freshwater jets.

Adults get their own Serenity Bay stretch of pristine sands as well as a restaurant and bar.

The island features a 12-acre snorkel trail dotted with sunken treasures including the submarine from the classic Disney attraction 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea and there are miles of paths to explore on foot or bicycle.

Over at Lookout Cay, there’s more of a focus on nature and celebrating the island’s Bahamian location with a cultural centre where you can learn about traditions and crafts.

GO: A four-night full-board cruise on Disney Wish to the Bahamas, including calls at both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay is from £920pp, based on two adults and two children sharing.

The cruise departs August 17.

Pierce Brosnan hits back at critics who mocked Irish accent on Mobland as show’s future hangs in the balance

PIERCE BROSNAN has hit back after being widely mocked for struggling to master an Irish accent – despite being born in Ireland.

He got ridiculed for his lilt while playing mobster Conrad Hannigan in Paramount+ show, MobLand.

It contributed to uncertainty over whether the Guy Ritchie-directed thriller, which also stars Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy, would get a second series.

But Pierce told the Radio Times: “My own accent is very soft. Conrad’s accent is a million miles away from me.”

A dialect coach recommended he speak with someone whose voice he could use as inspiration.

Pierce explained: “I told him I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I Googled the guy and that was it.

JOHNNY: C4 LACKS IDENTITY

JOHNNY VAUGHAN has slammed Channel 4 for failing to back the 2022 reboot of The Big Breakfast.

The presenter, who fronted the show from 1997 to 2001, said the channel had lost its identity without a flagship early-morning programme.

He also criticised TV execs’ obsession with cooking shows, saying they’re full of “boring, middle-aged, white chefs”.

The 2022 reboot of just four episodes, was hosted by Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu.

Pierce Brosnan’s wife Keely shows off weight loss transformation as they join the cast of MobLand on the red carpet

Johnny told Mo’s podcast he watched the reboot and that the show “just needs time”.

He added: “It’s meant to be an alternative to dreary daily breakfast shows.

“Without it, I think it’s like school without an assembly. You’ve got to say who you are every day. This is what’s on.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Disposable vapes being sold for as little as 29p in ‘crazy’ fire sale ahead of ban this weekend

DISPOSABLE vapes are being sold for as little as 29p in a “crazy” fire sale before they are banned this weekend.

It means they are being flogged for less than a Cadbury’s chocolate Freddo bar — which now costs 30p in supermarkets.

Despite the products being highly addictive, suppliers are not breaking the law by selling the vapes so cheaplyCredit: Getty

From Sunday it will be illegal to sell single-use e-cigarettes in the UK under new laws to protect kids and reduce landfill.

But online sellers are desperate to avoid being stuck with illegal stock with £200 fines looming.

One site boasting a “UK Vape Bargain Blast” is selling Flavaah Bar disposable vapes for 29p each, down from £5.

Elf Bars are on sale for 49p each, also down from a fiver.

And a packet of 20 e-cigs can cost just £10, which would have been £100 a year ago.

Kate Pike, from the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, told The Sun: “This is crazy.

“We are anticipating a challenging spike in illegal operations and supply during the changeover.

“Shops have been warned and told to run down their stocks and I’ve seen some unbelievably low prices.

This is an addictive product and we shouldn’t be selling them for these prices, but they aren’t doing anything wrong at this stage.”

Campaigners We Vape said it showed the new law will create a black market and is “impossible to enforce”.

Disposable vapes will be banned across UK by next summer to stop Britain’s kids from getting hooked

Ministers have brought in the rule as part of a drive to deter children and teenagers, who often use single-use vapes in fruity flavours, with flavours also set to be banned.

They also acted on environmental concerns about huge amounts of plastic and lithium batteries being thrown out, with an estimated one million vapes binned every day.

LIGHT WORK: Clean out wine bottles and remove labels by soaking them in warm, soapy water.

Fill with battery-powered fairy lights, £3 at Poundland, for an instant glow and garden ambiance.

FLOWER POWER: Turn gin bottles into sleek vases by soaking off labels and painting with a light-coloured beige or cream matte paint using tester pots, from £1.50 at B&Q.

It will give your vase an on-trend ceramic look. Wrap twine around the neck for rustic charm. It will be perfect for displaying garden cuttings or supermarket blooms.

READ MORE MONEY SAVING TIPS

CLEAN UP: Ditch ugly detergent bottles by decanting them into a pretty empty bottle.

Gin bottles especially are a great swap for holding your washing-up liquid instead of the unsightly plastic bottles.

You can even buy a budget pourer or pump to place on top of your bottle for £2.50 at amazon.co.uk.

MINI SAVER: When thoroughly washed, use slim half-sized vodka bottles as toothbrush holders or a place to hold your cotton wool in the bathroom.

If you are crafty, these smaller bottles also are great to stash away for birthdays and Christmas gifts, just add homemade bath salts for a thoughtful budget present.

BEER WE GO: Carefully cut the tops off clean beer bottles with a £5 glass cutter from Homebase or Screwfix — it is a lot easier to do this than you would think.

I’m an upcycling furniture artist – I found an absolute gem that is packed with loads of fantastic treasure for the home

Then use them as mini tumblers, or mini plant pots to grow your own herbs, taken from sprigs of supermarket bunches. Try growing basil or mint and place on a sunny windowsill.

Army Sergeant Majors being urged to stop shouting at sensitive troops and instead replicate one famous leader

ARMY Sergeant Majors are being urged to stop shouting at sensitive recruits, we can reveal.

Rather than barking orders like in war film Full Metal Jacket, they are encouraged to be more like mild-mannered David Beckham.

Regimental Sergeant Majors have traditionally been feared as they are responsible for enforcing Army discipline.

But Warrant Officer 1st Class Matt Howarth, head of the Army’s Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, told Soldier Magazine: “There are people who believe the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket is what we’re like.

“But the era when people shouted and screamed is long gone — for me, the picture of a good leader is more like David Beckham who never seemed to raise his voice.”

In 1987 film Full Metal Jacket Gunnery Sergeant Hartman bullies a bunch of Vietnam recruits.

Similarly, in 1970s It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, Windsor Davies played fiery Battery Sgt Major Williams.

By contrast, former England footie ace Beckham hardly ever lost his temper on the pitch.

But WO1 Ciar Crow reckoned: “You’d need to convince me that Beckham is the ideal model.

“My assumption is that he is a good leader but I’m not sure he has ‘a good telling off’ in him.

“People need to know Hartman is in you even if he doesn’t often appear.

“It’s no good if all you do is shout, though. My style is more of the disappointed dad.”

From gummies to sprays – we test three vitamin supplements for fussy kids

BASSETTS makes various kids’ vitamins.

Its Soft & Chewy Multivitamin gummies in summer berries flavour are for ages 12 to 18 – perfect for those that may not be eating their five a day.

They contain nutrients to support teenagers’ health, including vitamins C and D to aid the immune system, and B2 and B12 to help reduce tiredness and fatigue.

Although these don’t contain sugar they do have sweeteners – maltitol, sorbitol and sucralose – which are said to be safe for children.

These aren’t for vegetarians as they contain gelatine which comes from cows but they taste great with a berry flavour.

It has four fruit and vegetable powders, beta glucans (a fibre that can stimulate the immune system), live friendly bacteria (for gut health) and choline (a nutrient similar to B vitamins).

Top 5 Vitamins for Beautiful Hair

All these support a child’s immunity, energy and mental performance.

This is designed for children over four and up to 12 and comes in little sachets.

You simply add one sachet to 100ml of water or into a smoothie, yoghurt or juice. I love the fact this is unflavoured and is a great all-rounder.

Because it has no flavour there are no sweeteners either. I love this.

BetterYou Multivitamin kids’ oral spray has 14 essential vitamins and is free from sugar, gluten artificial colours and additives. It contains the full spectrum of B vitamins, including folic acid, combined with vitamin A, vitamin C, K1 and vitamin D.

Suitable for youngsters aged over one year.

Despite having no sugar this “chocolate and marshmallow” flavour (which my kid loved) is very, very sweet.

This is due to the sweetener xylitol which is generally considered safe for children when used in moderation and comes from plant fibres.

The 25ml bottle contains a 32-day supply and you need to have four sprays a day.

Students in South nearly TWICE as likely to get three A* A-level grades than those in North

STUDENTS in the South of England are nearly twice as likely to get three A* A-level grades than those in the North, data reveals.

Just 5,800 of the 258,000 who sat the exams last year came away with three or more top grades.

Of those, 3,779 were from the South and 2,021 in the North.

Nine out of ten of the best areas for A-levels were in the South. Pupils in reading, in Berks, came out top — with seven per cent hitting the highest grades.

Dozens in London suburbs Kingston, Newham, Sutton and Barnet also got top marks.

The Government stats show Salford, Gtr Manchester, fared the worst, with a single set of three A* grades.

Social mobility expert Professor Lee Elliot Major called it a national scandal, saying: “These figures lay bare a brutal truth — your chances of the highest academic success at school are still shaped more by where you live than what you’re capable of.

“This A-star divide highlights the vast differences in support offered to today’s children and young people both outside and inside the classroom.

“Increasingly A-level grades are as much a sign of how much support young people have had as much as their academic capability.

“This isn’t just a North-South education divide. It’s a London and South East versus the rest Divide.”

The Department for Education said: “We are taking measures to tackle baked-in inequalities.”

I visited the UK’s happiest place to live with the country’s best pizza and cosy pubs

YOU have probably heard of Sutton Hoo, the Suffolk site where a huge Anglo-Saxon ship was discovered under ancient grassy mounds.

Excitement around the medieval treasure trove grew in 2021 when Carey Mulligan starred in a Netflix movie about the discovery, The Dig.

Double rooms at The Crown at Woodbridge are from £115per nightCredit: Supplied

But it’s not just ancient artefacts, old textiles and traditional silverware that make this area so special.

The site sits close to Woodbridge, an off-grid market town on the banks of the River Deben that was recently crowned the UK’s happiest place to live by Rightmove.

Having spent a weekend soaking up its moreish cocktail of history, gorgeous views and cracking food — including one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had — I’m inclined to agree.

It was a short trip for me and my partner across the Essex/Suffolk border, where we checked into one of Woodbridge’s best-known hotels, The Crown.

The charming inn features ten comfortable boutique rooms, with enormous beds and grand panelled bathtubs.

The property’s position, smack bang on the thoroughfare of the town, is perfect for soaking up the best Woodbridge has to offer, within walking distance of a high street scattered with independent shops.

Swing by The W Gallery if you get a chance.

We were captivated by a huge canvas of an avenue of neon orange trees by artist Samuel Thomas.

A few doors down, at Bois Jolie, the owner explained how he went from market researcher to owning his own woodcraft business.

Now, rather than staring at spreadsheets and pie charts, he spends his time creating interesting coffee tables and beautifully grained yew lamp stands, topped by his wife’s colourful handmade shades.

If we weren’t convinced before, we certainly were after that: Woodbridge really is a town of happy people — and they love to chat.

We had made sure we were well fuelled for our first day of adventure with a huge brekkie of juicy local sausages and perfectly poached eggs at the hotel.

Make sure you book in here for dinner one night, too.

The Crown’s restaurant and bar are buzzing with locals on a Saturday night.

If you ever tire of the hotel’s jam-packed burgers, fish and chips and flavoursome salads, you won’t need to venture far for a decent meal in Woodbridge.

I recommend The Woodyard Ltd, where the air was thick with the lip-smacking scent of smoke and garlic.

Its wood-fired pizzas are something special and we were grateful for our cold beers after devouring a Vesuvio — all charred dough, spicy nduja sausage and fiery salami.

The queue for tables stretched out of the door and, after eating, it was easy to see why.

The Anchor proved the perfect spot for a relaxed Sunday roast.

My plate came piled high with pork, doused in a stock-rich gravy that was so good I would have happily drunk it from a mug.

Once we were finished feasting, we walked it off along Woodbridge’s River Deben and the marina, where hundreds of colourful boats are moored.

Take a peek at the tide mill on your wander.

The Grade I listed mill is one of the few remaining in the country and has a history stretching back 800 years.

We then made our way towards Kyson Hill, where the sun-drenched river is framed by salt marshes and ancient woodland.

This National Trust area is full of wildlife and we spotted a heron motionless at the water’s edge while, in the distance, deer darted between the trees.

While we didn’t get the chance to visit the mounds of Sutton Hoo itself on the other side of the river, its connection to the town is deepening.

It’s thought the ship and its treasure were hauled three miles up to the burial site from Woodbridge in the 7th Century, and now a community-led project is rebuilding the ancient craft in all its 90ft glory.

The locals are brilliantly enthusiastic about the mission, and you can take a look at the impressive work in progress in The Longshed.

After a weekend of eating, walking and soaking up the charm of this riverside town and all its history, I reckon Woodbridge is quite possibly the happiest place to live in the UK.

And it’s just as great to visit.

It may even feature frequently on my property searches . . .

Stunning actress Madeline Brewer looks sensational in dress made from a 1986 Sun front page

ACTRESS Madeline Brewer makes a splash — in a dress made from a Sun front page.

Redhead Madeline, 33, star of Netflix hit You, wore it for Behind the Blinds magazine.

It features a January 1986 edition of The Sun — the first printed at Wapping.

The style resembles the John Galliano newspaper dress worn by Sex and The City star Sarah Jessica Parker in the popular series.

Madeline starred alongside actor Penn Badgley in popular series You.

In the fifth and final series, which is now streaming, viewers will see Joe embarking on an affair with a young woman named Bronte, played by Madeline.

They meet after she gains employment at his bookstore but it soon becomes clear that she has an ulterior motive after she developed suspicions that Joe was responsible for the death of her close friend.

Penn has led the show since its inception on the streaming service but has shied away from getting down and dirty on-camera for the past two series.

However, he has since decided that in order to give the show a “proper conclusion,” he needs to head back to the bedroom to spice things up for the final series.
