Gorgeous European island is 26C in May and boasts ‘best wine in Europe’

Pantelleria, also known as the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean, has everything you could want from a luxury holiday – and its warm May weather has caught the eye of Brits

Italy is home to a whopping 450 enchanting islands, but lately, one has been the talk of the town for its delightful May climate and exceptional wine. Pantelleria, affectionately dubbed the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean, sits between Sicily and Tunisia and, as tourists suggest, is a gem that shouldn’t be ignored by UK holidaymakers.

The island is steeped in rich history, boasts stunning landscapes and a vivid culture. It is renowned for producing exquisite wines, with numerous vineyards and its own unique traditional vine cultivation technique referred to as vite ad alberello – a practice passed down through generations and honoured as the first agricultural practice to receive UNESCO recognition.

The island enjoys beautiful weather in May, with average temperatures peaking at a pleasant 26C. Discovering the island is best done on foot, and according to Sicily’s tourism board, to uncover Pantelleria’s “secrets”, adventurers should enjoy a hike through the lush countryside.

Adventurers exploring the terrain will happen upon various treasures – from idyllic gardens and archaeological sites to submerged historical areas ideal for diving adventures, reports the Express.

Not to be missed is the island’s iconic feature, Arch of the Elephant, along the eastern coastline. This natural rock formation resembles an elephant’s trunk stretching from the cliffs into the Mediterranean Sea and stands as one of Pantelleria’s principal tourist sites and most snapped landmarks.

A disappointed traveller took to TripAdvisor to declare that the natural arch “is a must for all Pantelleria travellers”. Although the island is devoid of sandy beaches, its coastline is characterized by cliffs, rocky creeks, and an abundance of underwater caves, all contributing to its distinct charm.

Additionally, there are several lakes where visitors can unwind in the serene surroundings. Specchio di Venere, or Venus’s Mirror, stands out as one of the most famed lakes on the island. It’s an idyllic haven for those seeking peace and tranquillity.

At this magical location, guests can indulge in both regular baths and mud baths within the naturally heated pools that reach temperatures up to 50C.

With an impressive 4.6-star rating on TripAdvisor, one visitor enthused: “Beautiful, relaxing, entertaining…a different day in the water… and your skin is so smooth when you get out of the thermal waters!!”

Another added: “I was pleasantly surprised by the scenic value of this location. The mud baths, the tepid waters, the lush vegetation and the very good trattoria in the vicinity. A must for any traveller to Pantelleria.”

Cabin crew confirms exactly when it’s not acceptable to recline your seat

After six years working for an international airline and diffusing multiple spats over seat reclining, one flight attendant shares when and how to recline your seat considerately

According to the flight attendant, it isn’t always necessary to recline your seat(Image: Getty Images)

While it is perfectly acceptable to recline your seat on a plane, there is an unspoken etiquette to the practice.

Passengers still, on many flights, sit in chairs that can recline back for comfort, but not all budget airlines offer this small, but often contentious feature. This is especially important considering it feels like cabin seats are getting progressively smaller and premiums are added to seats that boast more legroom.

The tight conditions – especially at high altitudes – can often lead to tension between passengers, which cabin crews are forced to reconcile. After six years of experience working for a major international airline, one flight attendant has seen it all.

In a feature for CN Traveller, the cabin crew member explains they have seen disputes over everything, including seat reclining. “I regularly deal with passengers arguing over when it’s appropriate to exercise this right to recline,” they write.

READ MORE: Jet2’s best and worst airline seats to book for extra legroom

The attendant shares one particularly heated confrontation on a flight from Bangkok to Sydney when a passenger hit the passenger in front of them with a rolled up magazine. The reason: because they reclined their seat. To save yourself from being on the receiving end of another passenger’s magazine, the flight attendant shares tips for how and when to recline your seat on an airplane.

If you do not want to worry about someone else reclining their seat in front of you, opt for a seat near the emergency doors(Image: Getty Images/blue jean images RF)

Three golden rules to seat reclining etiquette

  1. Be courteous and ask: While it may seem excessive and technically it isn’t necessary, asking before you recline your seat may help mitigate any simmering tension. The attendant advises: “Think of the recline button like a door knob; before you use it, “knock on the door” by asking the person behind you if it’s okay to recline your seat.
  2. Don’t recline during meal service: This is technically already a rule on most airlines. Cabin crew members typically advise passengers to raise their seats before serving in-flight meals. Even if it isn’t mandatory, it’s a common courtesy that goes a long way: “If you find someone’s seat recline annoying, wait until you try eating with your back hunched and the meal tray pushing against your abdomen. Believe me, it’s not pleasant.”
  3. Use your judgment: While it may be slightly more comfortable, reclining your seat on a short-haul flight isn’t always necessary. One tip from the attendant? Be considerate of who is sitting behind you before you commit to reclining.
Image of mother and children on board an aircraft
One top etiquette tip: put yourself in the shoes of the person behind you(Image: Getty Images)

“Take a peek and find out who’s sitting behind you. Maybe it’s a mother traveling with an infant on her lap, or someone who’s very tall, or a business traveller working from their laptop on the tray table. Some people won’t mind, but for others, it makes a big difference. Put yourself in their shoes, and remember they, too, want to travel comfortably.”

If you don’t want to have to worry about disturbing the person sitting behind you – or do not want to be disturbed by another person’s reclining seat, then you may want to pick your seat strategically.

Seats with most room

According to a recent survey by the UK consumer champion, Which? in which they measured the ‘seat pitch’ and width of all of the UK’s most popular carriers, one airline had the best economy seats. Aer Lingus seats had the most legroom, measuring in at 31-32 inches.

That said, British Airways came in at a close second, with a recorded average of 29-31 inches of legroom for economy seats. That said, different parts of the same aircraft offer different quality legroom.

For example, the best seats on Jet2 flights are reportedly in Rows 16 and 17, given their proximity to the exit doors. Keep in mind though that with the extra legroom comes extra responsibility, as travellers in these seats must be physically able and prepared to assist in the event of an emergency.

Beloved British spread launches its own line of POTATO products leaving shoppers confused & saying they ‘must try them’

A BELOVED British food brand has launched its first-ever potato product – and it’s left shoppers totally baffled.

The love-it-or-hate-it spread that’s divided households for over a century is now hitting shopping aisles in the form of roast potatoes.

One stunned shopper shared their find on the popular Facebook group Food Finds UK Official, posting a snap of the 350g pack spotted in Tesco for just £3.50.

The image shows “Marmite Roast Potatoes” – golden roast potatoes apparently infused with the famous yeasty spread.

Marmite, made from yeast extract and known for its “you either love it or hate it” slogan, is a registered trademark of Unilever, the British consumer goods giant headquartered in London.

These new potatoes are part of Marmite’s growing range of unexpected collaborations which include Marmite Peanut Butter and Marmite crisps.

Marmite Potato Crisps appear to have been a success, as they are stocked by several major British supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.

Walkers has also released its own version of Marmite crisps, adding to the product’s popularity.

It comes as a much-loved spin on the classic jar of Marmite is making a return after it was discontinued four years ago.

Sainsbury’s recently brought Marmite Squeezy back to its shelves for the first time since 2020.

Shoppers were posting online, calling for it to be brought back.

Posting on the Marmite website, one said: “Bring back squeezy jars please.

“They are so lovely and easy to use. Mine has nearly finished and I’m starting to get desperate. Please, please, pretty please.”

Meanwhile, Prue Leith recently told viewers the extra step she takes to get her roast potatoes extra crunchy.

The Great British Bake Off judge said that she starts off the “classic way” – parboiling the potatoes until they’re “just beginning to break up a little bit at the outside”.

After draining away the water, she puts the potatoes back into the pan with the lid on and gives it a “mighty great shake” to “rough up the edges”.

It’s at this point that Prue adds what she considers to be the magic ingredient.

“Then you get a handful of breadcrumbs, and put it in with your potatoes,” she said.

Prue continues her unique take on the traditional side dish as she pours melted butter into the potatoes – “just to make sure they’re all greasy”.

She then transfers the potatoes into a roasting tin, and covers them with MORE breadcrumbs before putting them into the oven “until they’re nice and brown and crisp”.

More than half (55 per cent) would agree the tasty ‘tuber’ is their favourite vegetable

Metal detectorists who tried to flog rare Anglo-Saxon coins worth £766k to undercover cop are forced to repay £100,000

A METAL detectorist who was jailed for trying to sell Anglo-Saxon coins to an undercover cop has been ordered to repay £103,000.

Roger Pilling, 77, thought he was flogging the find to an expert working for a wealthy American buyer.

Instead the man from Loveclough, Lancashire, has three months to repay the money or he could face another 12-month prison sentence.

He was convicted with a second man of conspiring to sell 44 ninth century coins worth £766,000 and jailed for five years and two months at Durham Crown Court in May 2023.

The coins, which were never declared as treasure, were believed to have been buried by a Viking and included two extremely rare examples of two-headed coins, showing Alfred of Wessex and Ceolwulf II of Mercia.

Pilling and his co-defendant Craig Best, 48, previously of Bishop Auckland, County Durham, tried to sell the coins to a real American collector, who contacted UK experts about how such rare pieces were available for sale, and police were called in.

Forty-four coins were recovered in the following sting operation but two – that Pilling claimed he had broken – were never found.

On April 24, Pilling was ordered to repay £103,000 after a confiscation order was granted at Teeside Crown Court.

He has three months to make the payment or he could face another 12-month prison sentence.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS Proceeds of Crime Division, said: “Roger Pilling intended to sell these rare and important coins for his own gain.

“He knew that these coins were stolen treasure and instead of choosing to report a crime, he chose to try and profit from it.

“The CPS worked with the police to value his criminal benefit from the attempted selling of these rare Anglo-Saxon coins, which should have been given to the Crown.

“The Confiscation Order set by the Judge reflects all the assets available to the defendants.

“We will always work to ensure that crime does not pay, and criminals cannot benefit from their ill-gotten gains.”

The coins were estimated to have been made between 874 CE and 879 CE.

The sentencing judge found that the 44 coins were part of a larger, undeclared find known as the Herefordshire or Leominster Hoard, which was discovered in 2015 and is worth millions of pounds, but which was also not declared.

It comes two years after Craig Best, then 46, and Roger Pilling hatching a plot to flog the 44 ninth-century coins, which are believed to have been buried by a Viking.

In 2023, Best and Pilling were jailed after they were convicted of conspiracy to convert criminal property.

The coin enthusiasts were also found guilty of possession of criminal property following a trial.

Durham Crown Court was told the coins were likely part of a larger, undeclared find known as the Herefordshire or Leominster Hoard.

Sentencing, Judge James Adkin said: “Had they left this country, they would have been likely to be lost to this nation for ever.”

Jurors heard how an undercover police sting was set up in 2019 when Best tried to sell the coins to an American collector, who then alerted the UK authorities.

He was arrested with three coins at a Durham hotel after he travelled to meet what he believed was a wealthy US buyer.

Pilling, who according to the judge acquired the collection from the “black market”, was arrested at his home in Loveclough, Lancashire.

They included two extremely rare examples of two-headed coins, showing Alfred of Wessex and Ceolwulf II of Mercia.

Experts say the discovery fills a historical gap from the time – revealing Ceolwulf was an ally or peer, rather than the “puppet” of the Vikings he was previously believed to be.

The coins are believed to have been found in Leominster, Herefordshire, in 2015 as part of a multi-million pound hoard.

Four people have already been convicted and jailed for 18 years for their role in concealing that find.

Under the Treasure Act 1996, finders have a legal obligation to report all finds of potential Treasure to the local coroner in the district in which the find was made.

“Treasure” has a number of definitions but key requirements are that it’s up to 200-years-old and over 10 per cent of its weight is precious metal.

If a reward is paid for a find it is normally shared equally between the finder and landowner.

Deliveroo sees huge shares jump after £2.8billion takeover offer from US firm

A TAKEOVER offer of £2.8billion has lifted Deliveroo shares to their best day on the stock market.

The takeaway delivery service — once called the “worst listing in history” — saw the jump after saying it was minded to accept a rival’s approach.

A takeover offer of £2.8billion from Doordash has lifted Deliveroo shares to their best day on the stock market

Deliveroo on Friday night signalled a deal with goliath US service Doordash would go ahead, following almost a year of on-off talks.

Shares in the British firm yesterday rallied 23.4p higher — or 16.6 per cent — to 170.9p, which would value the business at £2.56billion.

It is thought that a deal valuing Deliveroo’s shares at 180p each in cash will be confirmed later this week.

At that price, its founder and CEO Will Shu will land a £172million payday for his remaining shares.

Just two months ago, Mr Shu quashed rumours he had plans to step down.

He may choose to stay with the prospective combined business.

It is understood that the Deliveroo brand name will not be leaving the UK.

DoorDash previously kept the name Wolt going in Europe and Asia after its takeover of the Finnish delivery service back in 2022.

The Deliveroo takeover marks the end of a City rollercoaster for the firm, and shows how DoorDash and its British counterpart — which have strikingly similar beginnings and business models — saw very different fortunes.

They were both started in 2013 by entrepreneurs, and floated in 2021 on the back of the global Covid pandemic sparking a surge in demand for online food deliveries.

From Campbell’s soup to Caramac and Lilt – the iconic foods disappearing from supermarket shelves

But while DoorDash has grown to operate in 30 countries to be now worth £58billion, Deliveroo has only just turned a £3million maiden profit and has been exiting some international markets.

Deliveroo won back some confidence lately after broadening from just takeaways to retail deliveries with tie-ups with supermarkets, B&Q, and even Ann Summers.

But it has never lived up to its £7.6billion stock market valuation from its initial listing in 2021.

Despite being hailed by then-Chancellor Rishi Sunak as a “true British tech success story”, its shares lost 30 per cent of their value within the first few days, and it never recovered.

The failure was blamed on poor timing as lockdowns eased, as well as the growth of rivals.

There were also concerns over its zero-hour contracts model.

The deal with DoorDash follows similar negotiations at other takeaway firms.

In February, Just Eat was acquired by investment group Prosus for £3.5billion.

BUSINESS ANALYSIS

AROUND 100 years ago, food deliveries by bike were common.

That’s how Greggs started — with founder John Gregg taking eggs and yeast to Newcastle families on his pushbike.

When Deliveroo started in 2013, cynics questioned if it was just squandering millions of pounds to do the same thing.

It was hardly reinventing the wheel, they argued, even if a whizzy app meant it was considered a technology firm.

At the time of Deliveroo’s failed listing in 2021, there had just been an explosion of fast-growing rivals like Gorillas, Zapp, Uber Eats and Getir.

At the same time, the easing of lockdowns meant a fall in demand for takeaways.

A flurry of deals saw US service Gopuff shore up most start-ups, while investors at Prosus gobbled up Just Eat.

What has become clear is that food delivery tech firms need plenty of dough.

By combining with DoorDash, Deliveroo will have a better chance of keeping the wheels of its couriers’ bikes turning.

THEME BARK ON

PAW Patrol will be “there on the double” after Merlin Entertainments struck a deal for a theme park dedicated to the cartoon pups.

The leisure giant, which runs Madame Tussauds and Legoland Windsor, said it had struck a partnership with Paramount to bring the animated characters to Chessington World of Adventures in South West London.

Merlin Entertainments has struck a deal for a Paw Patrol theme park

It will be the UK’s first Paw Patrol-themed resort with four themed rides, dedicated hotels, plus a shop for parents to spend cash on merch for the kids.

Fiona Eastwood, boss of Merlin Entertainments, said the partnership “builds on our expanding offer to families with younger children, a key audience for us as part of our future growth plans”.

Paw Patrol, which follows the adventures of Ryder and his team of heroic rescue pups ready to save the day, was first released on Canadian TV in 2013.

UK fans first got to watch it on Channel 5’s Milkshake! slot a few months later.

It has since become a successful franchise with two theatrical films.

Its most recent, The Mighty Movie, made £152million at the global box office from a budget of £22million.

FRENCH FANCY ITV

THE French entertainment giant which produces Peaky Blinders and Big Brother is said to be exploring a takeover of ITV.

Banijay Group has held early talks with ITV bosses about a full acquisition or buying just its studio production business, according to the Financial Times.

Analysts reckon ITV studios could be worth £3billion alone.

Despite the takeover interest, shares in ITV yesterday dipped by 4.3 per cent, valuing the whole business at £2.89billion.

A LIDL BIT MORE

LIDL is investing half a billion pounds in Britain this year as it sets its sights on crossing the milestone of 1,000 stores.

The discount supermarket, which already has 980 shops here, plans to open another 40 during 2025.

It also wants a new distribution centre on top of its 14 existing locations.

The chain has welcomed Government planning reforms — having previously complained about rivals blocking new stores.

Lidl’s Richard Taylor said it would aid the “kind of growth we are working towards”.

THE GOING RATES

MINISTERS are ramping up their regulators bonfire by scrapping the Valuation Office Agency, which sets business rates and collects council tax.

It will be rolled directly into HMRC from next April.

Treasury Minister James Murray said it will end inefficient duplication of agencies, plus “drive change faster and improve value for money”.

The VOA has been criticised for inaccuracies and unfairness in setting business rates.

But experts at Colliers fear politicising the VOA may cause issues for ratepayers.

RENTS outside London have hit a record high of £1,349 a month after a 0.6 per cent increase in the last quarter, according to Rightmove.

The average in the capital rose to £2,698, despite more properties coming on to the market.

HACKERS HIT M&S FOR £28M

MARKS & SPENCER has missed out on around £28million of sales since a cyber attack forced it to suspend online orders on Friday.

Hackers first targeted the retailer over the Easter weekend, initially affecting contactless payments and click and collect orders.

But M&S paused online shopping via its website and app on Friday, which experts said showed hackers were deep in its systems.

More than £700million has been wiped off the company’s market valuation since the cyber attack started.

M&S said customer data had not been affected but it could not say when normal service would resume.

Staff are having to fulfil click and collect orders manually.

Agency workers at its warehouse in Castle Donington, Leics, were told they were not needed yesterday because there was much less “picking and packing” to be done.

A.I’LL GO TO SHOPS

CHATGPT maker OpenAI is launching a new search tool that turns its chatbot into a personal shopper.

The function will allow it to trawl the internet for home, fashion, and beauty products — and produces personalised recommendations tailored to budget and reviews.

Man City star Ederson ‘has concrete chances’ to LEAVE Etihad just a year after lucrative transfer collapsed

MANCHESTER CITY star Ederson reportedly has “concrete chances” to leave this summer — just a year after seeing a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia collapse.

Ederson, 31, came close to leaving City after winning his sixth Premier League title in 2024 following concrete interest from the Middle East.

He was offered £900,000-a-week to quit the Etihad and refused to play down links before remaining in the north west.

But Fabrizio Romano claims Saudi clubs have reignited their interest in the Brazil international.

And Ederson could now finally leave City for new riches, with Pep Guardiola ready to part ways.

The 2023 Treble winner has made just 22 Premier League appearances this term — his lowest-ever figure.

Ederson has missed City’s last three matches, including Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest, after limping off against Crystal Palace with a mystery injury 16 days ago.

His City contract, worth £180k-a-week, runs until 2026.

But with No2 Stefan Ortega proving his worth on multiple occasions, Ederson could become the latest big name to leave City.

Kyle Walker packed his bags for AC Milan in January.

While legend Kevin De Bruyne will depart on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

There are also questions marks over the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones and Nathan Ake.

City have already embarked on a squad rebuild, spending £180m on stars including Omar Marmoush and Nico Gonzalez in January.

The likes of Nico O’Reilly and James McAtee have also enjoyed decent minutes.

And after boss Guardiola ended talk over his future by penning a deal until 2027, a new phase of City’s history is well underway.

Major money-saver feature is CLOSING on popular home heating gadgets as users slam Google for ‘absolute let down’ change

HOMEOWNERS are raging with Google after the company announced that a major money-saving feature will close down later this year.

Google owns the hugely popular Nest brand, which makes products including smart thermostats and alarm systems.

Nest Learning Thermostat generations 1-4.

The main appeal for such devices is that you can use them remotely with a smartphone.

This can be a real money-saver for scheduling heating and turning it off remotely if you forget once you’ve left the house.

But very soon the feature will be closed down entirely for several Nest thermostat models.

The tech giant says it will be “transitioning away” from supporting three of its oldest devices.

“As we look at what it takes to support your energy needs going forward, it has become increasingly challenging to continue to update these products given the early hardware,” the firm said.

“You will no longer be able to control them remotely from your phone or with Google Assistant, but can still adjust the temperature and modify schedules directly on the thermostat.”

The three models affected are:

  • Nest Learning Thermostat (1st generation, released in 2011)
  • Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd generation, released in 2012)
  • Nest Learning Thermostat (2nd generation, Europe version, released in 2014)

Support is due to be withdrawn on October 25.

Other models will continue to work as normal.

How to tell if your Nest Thermostat is affected

The Nest thermostats affected by the move all have smaller 1.8-inch screens compared to more recent models.

“You can look at the display, the base, or in the Nest or Home app to find out which Nest thermostat you own,” Google says.

“What an absolute let down,” one user wrote on Reddit in reaction to the news.

“Google being Google. Never again will I buy anything from them again.”

Another wrote: “This makes me so mad.

“Why is the world would I ever buy hardware from them again knowing they could turn around and do the same thing again?”

Alongside the development, Google also announced that it will no longer launch new Nest thermostats in the UK going forward.

“Heating systems in Europe are unique and have a variety of hardware and software requirements that make it challenging to build for the diverse set of homes,” the company explained.

“The Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen, 2015) and Nest Thermostat E (2018) will continue to be sold in Europe while current supplies last.

“These models will continue to receive security updates and you can control them via the Nest and Home apps.”

4 ways to keep your energy bills low

Laura Court-Jones, Small Business Editor at Bionic shared her tips.

1. Turn your heating down by one degree

You probably won’t even notice this tiny temperature difference, but what you will notice is a saving on your energy bills as a result. Just taking your thermostat down a notch is a quick way to start saving fast. This one small action only takes seconds to carry out and could potentially slash your heating bills by £171.70.

2. Switch appliances and lights off

It sounds simple, but fully turning off appliances and lights that are not in use can reduce your energy bills, especially in winter. Turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use, can save you up to £20 a year on your energy bills

3. Install a smart meter

Smart meters are a great way to keep control over your energy use, largely because they allow you to see where and when your gas and electricity is being used.

4. Consider switching energy supplier

No matter how happy you are with your current energy supplier, they may not be providing you with the best deals, especially if you’ve let a fixed-rate contract expire without arranging a new one. If you haven’t browsed any alternative tariffs lately, then you may not be aware that there are better options out there.

Police intervene as protesters target tourists with new tactic in Spanish hotspot

Protesters soaking the bus

Tourist aboard a sight-seeing bus in Barcelona were blocked and squirted with water by protesters.

The organizers of many of the anti-tourism protests held in 2024 in Mallorca launched a protest in the Northern Spanish city on Sunday. The Catalan Police were called when the campaigners blocked a bus packed with tourists close to the famous Sagrada Familia.

Members of Més turisme, Menys vida (More Tourism, Less Life) launched the action after holding an international press conference. After stopping the bus in its tracks for several minutes, the protesters doused it with water pistols. According to OK Diario, police dispersed some of the activists and detained others.

This tourism-phobic group from Mallorca carried out several pressure actions against tourists last year, both in Palma and on iconic beaches like Caló des Moro, as well as two demonstrations with thousands of people protesting against tourism in the streets of the Balearic capital.

Fed up locals in holiday hotspots across Spain, Italy, France and Portugal have refused to rule out targeting terminal buildings to deter holidaymakers this summer. They say mass tourism has fuelled soaring rents and a lack of affordable homes – as accommodation is snapped up for tourist lets and land bought for building resorts. The alert comes as millions of us are planning sunshine getaways.

At the Més turisme, Menys vida summit, protestor Elena Boschi yesterday told the Mirror: “We want tourists to have some level of fear about the situation – without fear there is no change.”

The English language teacher, 46, a campaigner from Genoa, on the Italian riviera, continued: “Our cities and regions are not for sale and there is an urgent need to limit the growth of tourism, demand a change of course and decide on a path to tourism de-growth as a way out.”

When questioned by our reporter about demonstrations at airports, which have been mooted by activists, leader Daniel Pardo added: “It is a possibility – but, it is difficult to say because each territory will decide how they want to take action, there is no one set strategy.”

Issues relating to tourism have been felt particularly keenly by those living on the Canary Islands. In 2024, the Canary Islands saw a record 17.9 million visitors, a combination of international and domestic tourists. This included 15.5 million international tourists, a 10% increase from the previous year, and around 1.8 million domestic tourists from mainland Spain.

This year activists – who argue that house prices are too high, roads too busy and the way of life being eroded by mass-tourism – have pledged to target popular tourist hotspots, disrupt public events and “confront political leaders”. A fresh campaign is set to commence from May 18. “From now on, we will take our fight to the very spaces where their predatory model is perpetuated,” declared activist group Canarias tiene un límite (The Canaries Have a Limit).”

The pair, who formed a very close friendship during their time on CBB, have left each other’s sides after weeks together, as JoJo was seen having her luggage wheeled through the airport.

JoJo looked in great spirits as she wandered through Heathrow Terminal 5.

The Dance Moms star looked as though she was trying to disguise herself in a large grey top with the hood up and a red beanie hat.

The 21-year-old partnered her look with some baggy black trousers, glasses and high-tops.

She flashed a smile at the camera as she got ready to depart the UK with her backpack on, at one point even throwing her arms to each side in a happy gesture.

And her outfit was in fact the exact same one that Chris had been spotted wearing in the Celeb Big Brother house – with even the orange beanie hat being the same.

Meanwhile, Chris was spotted out looking downcast after JoJo left for the airport.

The reality star was pictured out in a beige shirt and brown trousers but failed to flash a smile.

JoJo’s partner Kath stunned fans when they revealed on social media on Saturday that JoJo had dumped them at the show after-party.

Kath went on to suggest that her ex “fell in love” with Chris, 32, on the programme.

And now an eagle-eyed fan has spotted a clue that their friendship is only growing stronger.

One CBB fan posted a clip on TikTok of JoJo and Chris intensely looking at each other from six the penultimate night in the house.

It showed JoJo beaming with her hands wrapped around Chris’ neck.

JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs’ relationship

We look back at JoJo Siwa’s romance with Kath Ebbs:

JoJo Siwa went public with hers and Kath Ebbs’ relationship in January 2025.

The Dance Moms star had been introduced to 27-year-old Australian content creator Kath by a mutual friend called G-Flip six months earlier.

JoJo had split with her girlfriend Dakayla Wilson in November 2024 and it is believed she hooked up romantically with Kath soon after.

Speaking in March at the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, JoJo said of her relationship: “I am so happy. I am in a very mature relationship, and it’s beautiful. It’s taught me so much about life.

“It’s taught me so much about love and respect, and it’s a beautiful thing.

“It’s different in more ways than I can count. I wouldn’t even know what to say the biggest is ‘cause just everything is so different and special.”

Kath even claimed they had talked about marriage together.

However, JoJo’s romance with Kath abruptly hit the skids on April 25, 2025, at the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party.

JoJo dumped Kath at the bash after spending 19 days in the CBB house – where she had grown close to Love Island star Chris Hughes.

The social media user who shared the snap captioned it: “They were trying not to kiss when close up. Love is love.”

The TikToker was left stunned when JoJo gave the post a like.

They wrote later on: “JoJo just liked a TikTok about her and Chris trying to resist kissing in the house! What?!”

While another fan also spotted the star liking a TikTok comparing JoJo and Chris to Titanic’s love interests Jack and Rose.

Former Love Island star Chris and singer JoJo appeared on ITV‘s This Morning to reveal the truth about their close bond.

Chris said it was important to have JoJo’s support in the house – branding her his “rock”.

The US star admitted she quickly came to the realisation that she wasn’t happy with her relationship with Kath while in the house.

JoJo said: “When I went into the house… day one was fun, day two was fun.

“But then honestly on day three, I was now in my own thoughts, away from anyone that I know, away from outside opinions, away from everything.

“I sat with myself with things I was okay with in my life, that I should have never been okay with.”

Cat then asked: “Do you mean your relationship?,” to which JoJo said: “So many things, that is one of them but so many things.”

She continued: “Obviously I wanted to hold that inside and didn’t want to air that out very publicly.

“But there were countless things that I was like ‘that’s not something I should be okay with and I’m not okay with’.

“I was not happy.”

JoJo confessed that as soon as she left the house she wanted to call time on their relationship – saying “I was pretending things were great”.

“I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes I needed to make,” JoJo told the hosts.

“I think you have this experience, it’s so exhilarating, it’s 20 days but feels like four-and-a-half years and the first thing you want to do when you get out is exactly what you need to do in your life to make it as good as you can.

“I realised just how not great things were and I was pretending they were great.

“It’s been hard but it’s been good, I’m very happy where I am now.”

JoJo then admitted that she did not “intentionally” plan to dump her partner at the wrap party – but said “one thing lead to another”.

Speaking about where Chris and JoJo go from here, regarding their “close” friendship, Chris said they have a “really strong bond” – calling it a “soulmate friendship”.

Chris said: “Our friendship, it’s hard to explain… it’s just a really strong bond between two people, it’s just a strong friendship.

“I think you can have a soulmate friendship, that’s the thing.

“To me, it’s that energy when it’s not the standard friendship you have with your friends, but it’s still a friendship, we are friends.

“It’s nice, I found it strange because it was such a strong friendship.

“Having someone in there to go through an experience like that and have someone there everyday when you’re emotional, when you’re happy… that was beautiful, that was genuinely an amazing thing.”

Ben then grilled the pair and asked if it was just “platonic” or if it could develop into something “romantic”.

JoJo laughed and said: “He’s a gorgeous boy, look, he’s a great guy, it is platonic, we have a lot of fun together.

“Life is life and I don’t know any future of anything but I’m really grateful for the dynamic that we have and the bond that we have.

“Whatever life does, life will do.”

Tottenham opponents Bodo/Glimt in chaos as they face missing HALF their team for crunch Europa League clash

TOTTENHAM’S Europa League semi-final opponents Bodo/Glimt face an absentee crisis ahead of Thursday’s first-leg showdown.

The Norwegian champions are already without three players due to suspension, including influential skipper Patrick Berg.

But now they are sweating on injuries to key centre-back Odin Bjortuft and winger Ole Blomberg.

Ever-present Bjortuft, 26, was forced off early in the second half of Bodo’s 3-0 league win over KFUM on Sunday with a groin complaint.

Bodo boss Kjetil Knutsen said after the game: “I do not know anything. I never enjoy a player laying down, but the medical staff are looking into it.”

Bjortuft is now a doubt for this week’s trip to North London, along with wideman Blomberg who missed the KFUM game completely due to an injury picked up earlier this month.

Skipper Berg, 27, is banned, due to too many yellow cards, along with midfield partner Hakon Evjen and striker Andreas Helmersen.

The latter netted a crucial goal in the quarter-final triumph over Italian giants Lazio, which added to their impressive list of scalps this season.

Knutsen’s side have already beaten Olympiacos, FC Twente and Besiktas this season.

While they also gave potential final opponents Manchester United a scare by going 2-1 up at Old Trafford in November, only to lose 3-2 thanks to a Rasmus Hojlund double.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

Bodo’s domestic campaign has only just kicked off, but they are unbeaten in four league games, winning three of them.

Spurs’ season – and possibly the future of boss Ange Postecoglou – hinges on them going all the way in Europe.

Fire alarm at Stockley Park sees VAR SCRAPPED in middle of Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest match as statement released

That is after an horrendous league term where they have lost NINETEEN games, with their latest disasterclass coming at Anfield on Sunday where a 5-1 thrashing handed Liverpool the title.

Postecoglou has been without multiple key players due to injury this season but goes into the Bodo game only worrying about the fitness of captain Son Heung-min.

The South Korean, 32, has missed the last four games with a foot injury.

easyJet and Ryanair passengers urged not to pack three items in hand luggage to avoid fees

Hand luggage-only passengers flying with airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair could face hefty excess fees if they are found to have more than their allotted luggage allowance

Passengers who opt to fly with budget airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet can enjoy incredibly cheap flights if they travel with hand luggage only. However, these airlines, like many other low-cost carriers, require passengers to pay extra for larger cabin bags or checked luggage.

If you arrive at the airport with more than your allowed luggage allowance, you could be hit with hefty excess fees. Matthew Corrigan, CEO of Trtl Travel, suggests that one of the best ways to maximise your luggage allowance and avoid paying extra is to pack strategically. He said: “Airlines such as Ryanair, British Airways, easyJet and Jet2 are cracking down on hand luggage passengers.”

In recent years, many airlines have imposed restrictions on the amount of hand luggage passengers can bring onboard. For instance, Ryanair now only allows passengers to bring one small luggage item per person free of charge.

Packing smart can save you money(Image: Kinga Krzeminska via Getty Images)

Mathew said: “One of the main downsides of travelling with only a carry-on bag is significantly less space for your belongings.”

“While this may seem like a deal-breaker, there are some simple ways to maximise the space in your hand luggage.”

According to the expert, this involves leaving behind some everyday items which could be taking up a lot of space or tipping the scales.

Travel expert Matthew has some savvy tips to make your packing woes a thing of the past. He suggests: “Avoid packing items that will be provided by the accommodation – such as hairdryers, towels, and toiletries.

Only bring items you know you’ll use, and try to share phone chargers and other technology wherever possible.”

Before you start packing those bulky bottles of shampoo or a hefty hairdryer, check with your hotel first; there’s a good chance they’ve got you covered. And let’s face it, you can pick up toiletries at your destination if needed.

Heading somewhere chilly? Matthew’s cracking idea: wear your coat and chunky knits on the plane instead of jamming them into your bags.

Stroll through departures in your winter wear, he says, because after all, you can sling your coat over your arm if you heat up. Plus, it won’t count against your cabin baggage limit and you’ll avoid the shivers mid-flight.

He added: “It’s best to wear large items such as jumpers and coats onto the plane rather than packing them. This frees up space and ensures you don’t get cold during the flight.”

Travel con that forces you to ‘panic buy’ and spend more than you should on holiday

Booking a holiday can be a stressful experience, and travel companies know just how to panic you into booking fast without thinking. Here are the six most common scams to look out for

Planning a summer holiday abroad can be a daunting task, with the cost of flights and accommodation quickly adding up. To make matters worse, booking companies often use clever marketing tactics to pressure you into making a hasty decision.

Mark Baldwin, CEO of Baldwin Digital, has revealed six common scams to watch out for – and how to avoid them.

One tactic used by hotel websites is to create a false sense of urgency. Those “only 3 rooms left at this price” or “12 people looking at this hotel right now” alerts are designed to trigger your fear of missing out.

However, Mark warns that these notices are often misleading. “They might be technically true, but they’re designed to create a false sense of scarcity,” he explains.

To avoid falling for this trick, try searching for the same hotel on multiple booking sites. You’ll often find similar or better rates elsewhere without the artificial scarcity, reports the Express.

Another tactic used by booking sites is to create a sense of urgency with countdown timers next to special offers or deals. However, Mark reveals that these are rarely accurate.

“Most of these so-called limited-time deals aren’t actually limited,” he says. “They’re programmed to reset or show different timeframes to different users.”

Avoid the pressure of a ‘limited time offer’ by taking a screenshot of the deal and checking back in a day or two.

More often than not, you’ll find the same offer still available days later. Another trick is to use incognito windows to track deals and compare prices without cookies.

Another way websites squeeze more money out of you is through dynamic pricing. If you’re repeatedly searching for the same destination, travel sites will often increase the price.

Matt warned: “Travel sites often use cookies to track your interest and adjust prices based on your online behaviour.”

This strategy exploits your invested time and growing attachment to a specific trip, making you more likely to accept a higher price rather than start your search anew.

One way to dodge this is by using incognito sites for your browsing so you aren’t tracked by cookies. Even better, use a VPN to hide your location, as prices can fluctuate depending on where you’re booking from.

Websites also try to extract more money from you by pre-selecting optional extras and automatically adding them to your total. Common add-ons include travel insurance, seat selection or priority boarding.

Hotels that seem too good to be true likely will be(Image: FG Trade Latin via Getty Images)

Matt revealed: “Companies know most consumers won’t uncheck these boxes,” Baldwin explains. “It’s called the ‘default effect’ – we tend to stick with the pre-selected options. These add-ons can increase your initial price by 15-30 percent.”

Ensure you scrutinise your total carefully at checkout and deselect any add-ons you didn’t choose. The age-old saying ‘too good to be true’ certainly applies when it comes to booking flights and hotels.

Matt warned: “Budget airlines pioneered this technique by advertising bare-bones prices that don’t include basics like checked luggage or seat selection. Hotels do it too, showing rates that don’t include taxes, resort fees, or parking.”

To dodge hidden costs, always proceed to the final checkout page on various websites to compare the real prices. But beware of another pitfall – deceptive price comparisons.

Travel websites often boast about the savings you’re supposedly making compared to a higher rate – but take these with a pinch of salt.

Matt explained: “Those crossed-out rates might represent the highest possible price that room ever sold for, perhaps during a major holiday or event.

“Or they might compare a standard room to a deluxe room, making it seem like you’re getting a deal when you’re actually looking at different products.”

To sidestep this ruse, concentrate on the actual price you’ll pay, rather than the purported discount.

UK’s ‘hidden gem’ which looks like ‘Grand Canyon’ is ‘amazing’ walking route

The UK is brimming with spots perfect for a family day out and Brits have expressed their surprise at learning about a ‘hidden gem’ which looks like the Grand Canyon

The beautiful spot has incredible views, a great walking trail and plenty of history to explore
The beautiful spot has incredible views, a great walking trail and plenty of history to explore(Image: Trip Advisor)

As the weather perks up, you might be tempted to explore one of Britain’s gorgeous outdoor spots in the imminent future.

Whether it’s a vigorous hike, a tranquil walk, soaking up the sun or enjoying a picnic, there are countless places across the UK that offer the perfect setting for a family day out. And recently Brits have been marvelling over the hidden gem that is Kinver Edge in Staffordshire.

Kinver Edge is home to stunning vistas, teeming with wildlife, and remarkable rock-hewn houses. The site is notable for its striking red sandstone cliffs, bearing an unexpected resemblance to the iconic Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA.

This impressive landscape features a labyrinth of cave homes etched into the faces of three rocks—Nanny’s Rock, Vale’s Rock, and Holy Austin. According to the National Trust, these unique rock houses have a history dating as far back as 1777 and were among the last troglodytic living spaces occupied by families until the 1960s in England.

Content cannot be displayed without consent

Bella, a local from Birmingham who loves to share her favourite walking locations, travel hacks, and gastronomic finds, recently paid a visit to Kinver Edge, which is just a 45-minute drive from Birmingham. Reflecting on her findings, she shared: “The West Midlands surprisingly has more hidden gems than you think. This is Nanny’s Rock in Kinver.”

Recounting her adventure, Bella shared with excitement: “We did a circular route following the purple arrows and taking about two hours. This took us past Nanny’s Rock and also the National Trust rock houses. The area that we’re exploring here is totally free but the rock houses do cost, I think £7.50 and there’s a little café too.”

She hailed the route as “amazing”, drawing attention to its walker-friendliness. The medium-difficulty, 6.4km path beckons nature enthusiasts all year round, imposing only one rule: keep the pooches leashed.

Adding tips for fellow explorers, she advised: “The parking is great because it’s free here on Compton Road or on Kingsford Lane.”

Taken by surprise, an admirer of the trail declared: “Wow, I can’t believe this is in the UK, what a great place.”

Others quickly joined the laudatory chorus with remarks such as “looks great,” and expressions of disbelief like “so beautiful, can’t believe I never knew about it,” followed by a ponderous note: “Amazing what nature is giving us”.

One commenter fondly reminisced about their DOFE [Duke of Edinburgh award] exploits at the site, promoting it with enthusiasm: “This is where I did my DOFE. It was amazing, I would recommend.”

Praising a more recent excursion, another said: “Ahh did this a few weeks ago. Lovely little walk. The rock houses are sooo cute! Have the veg soup and the kids had scones which were delicious at the cafe.”

In a separate clip, Sarah of @stufftodowestmidlands fame was awestruck by the landscape, enthusing: “It’s like the Grand Canyon.”

She rounded off her impressions with a bold claim that Kinver Edge offers “the best view in West Midlands”.

Interior designers share where they shop for rugs in Los Angeles

According to interior designer Amr Samaha of Samaha Studio, Mansour offers some of the most renowned fine rugs in the world. “Their collection is so prestigious that they are even a choice purveyor for His Royal Highness King Charles III,” he said. (A Royal Warrant of Appointment recognizing them as a supplier to the Royal Household hangs above the showroom entrance.)

Offering a tour of the sprawling two-story showroom where rugs are displayed in stacks and rolls, Benjamin Soleimani, a third-generation partner of the Melrose flagship, said there is “nowhere you’ll find as much selection.”

Acknowledging that it can be difficult for non-interior designers to shop for rugs, Soleimani said it helps to give yourself some parameters. “The size and style is very important,” he said, along with your budget. He also encourages customers to take rug samples home and live with them for a period. “The lighting in your home will change the rug’s color,” he said. “And your home is going to be different from our showroom.”

Although Mansour specializes in antique rugs from Persia, Turkey, India and Nepal, there are also rugs from Sweden and Morocco and reproductions of antiques. Rugs are tagged with dimensions, content and background, and a QR code is included for further details. Mansour Modern, located upstairs, offers more contemporary designs, including graphic collaborations with noted designers Kerry Joyce, Jeff Andrews and Victoria Kagan.

Despite the hefty price tags that come with its handmade rugs, Soleimani said it’s possible to walk out with a carpet in stock for $2,500. Mansour also offers rug pads and cleaning services.

B&M shoppers filling baskets with new flavour of Lindt chocolate bars scanning for just 50p

CHOCOLATE fans are buzzing after spotting Lindt chocolate bars in B&M – and they’re scanning for just 50p each.

The new flavour causing all the excitement is Cookies & Cream — and shoppers can’t get enough.

Hand holding three Lindt chocolate bars: Cookies & Cream, Cookies & Cream, and Milk.

The sweet deal was shared on Facebook, where one user posted: “Cookies & Cream Lindt Chocolate Bars spotted at B&M Stores 50p each!”

The post quickly racked up comments, with excited shoppers tagging friends to spread the news.

One fan said: “I love cookies and cream,” while another added: “Ooo I like Lindt xxx.”

Many vowed to head straight to their nearest B&M to stock up while they could.

At just 50p a bar, it’s no surprise shoppers are filling their baskets fast.

Lindt’s reputation for smooth, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate has long made it a fan favourite and this new flavour is no exception.

It’s not the first time Lindt lovers have scored a bargain.

Amazon recently slashed the price of Lindt’s Lindor Assorted Easter Egg Gift Set from £13 to just £7.68 – more than £5 cheaper than Sainsbury’s.

Savvy shoppers didn’t waste any time snapping up the deal, with one happy customer saying: “These were excellent, and two of us ate and enjoyed them until we finished the box.

“Highly recommended.”

In another treat for choc fans, Amazon has also cut the price of giant 1kg bags of Lindt truffles.

The bags, packed with around 80 individually wrapped truffles, have dropped from £30 to £21.38, just in time for Easter.

Perfect for parties, egg hunts, or a cheeky treat for yourself, the bargain bags have been flying off the shelves.

One shopper said: “Love these. Such smooth and delicious chocolate at a great price.”

Meanwhile, Lindt has made an even bigger splash with the opening of a huge new flagship store in London.

Located opposite Piccadilly Circus tube station, the store boasts the UK’s biggest pick ‘n’ mix station and is packed with luxury chocolate treats.

Shoppers can even try Dubai-style chocolate bars for £10 and grab a Lindt-flavoured coffee or ice cream from the café counter.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

It was previously reported how Coronation Street actor Jack, 37, had only agreed to take part in the show to help with their wedding costs.

Yet on Monday’s Good Morning Britain – hot on the heels of his show win on Friday – he told how he won’t be expanding his ceremony just yet.

After hosts Susanna Reid, 54, and Ed Balls, 58, asked him about his upcoming ceremony and if the CBB stars would be invited, he replied: “I don’t think so.

“I have only known them three weeks and have a guest list a mile long.”

Jack then admitted how his housemate Chris Hughes, 32, kept asking to come.

He then confessed how he told him: “‘I don’t think you will pal.'”

The David Platt star then admitted: “I haven’t even told him the date.”

It followed an awkward moment on the ITV reality series where Jack again ignored Chris’ requests for a spot at his special day.

It came after an emotional letter Hanni wrote to Jack was aired on the show.

Meanwhile, CBB fans were left convinced Jack had sent a “secret signal” to Hanni during his time in the spy house.

His wife-to-be was on hand to meet him on-stage after his huge show win, with the pair sharing a kiss on his exit from the compound.

JACK AND HANNI’S LOVE STORY

Prior to her social media fame, Jack’s fiancee Hanni worked as a storyliner on Coronation Street from 2018 to 2020 – with 535 episodes to her credit.

During this time, she first met Jack, but it was an encounter at a wedding for a mutual friend that sparked their romance.

Speaking to OK Magazine in 2020, Jack revealed: “Then our mutual friends got married and we were both guests at the wedding.

Celebrity Big Brother 2025 line-up

Celebrity Big Brother is back for a brand new series, with a whole host of stars set to live it up in the famous compound.

“We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it.”

Jack previously revealed his plans to start a family with Hanni once they’ve made it down the aisle.

The couple dated for six years before Jack got down on one knee during a romantic safari in Tanzania in June, 2024.

Spring Into Style with M&S: Your Must-Have Wardrobe Update

Rave reviews

These new jeans, which are part of the M&S Collection, are clearly proving a hit with shoppers, as they have already earned an impressive overall rating of 4.9 out of five stars on the M&S website.

Shoppers raced to share their rave reviews of the jeans, with many overjoyed at the “great fit” of the trousers

One impressed shopper wrote: “Really happy with my cropped jeans. Great fit and love the flared bottoms.”

A second commented: “Perfect pair of jeans. Fit perfectly and feel super comfortable. Just ordered another pair in light blue. Well done M&S.”

Why Everyone Is Loving M&S

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale revealed to Fabulous why M&S is the shop of the moment. She explained:

“M&S has really pulled it out of the bag this season, there is so much good product to be excited about.

“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’ that notion is long gone with it now being one of the leading high street stores for womenswear.

“Its handbag range in particular is super strong with them selling 170% vs plan, with lots more designer dupes for just a fraction of the price.

“The brand is now also the #1 for style perceptions, compared to the #3 spot it had last year, this comes from a really strong design team focused on modernising the brand, not only taking into consideration how the pieces look, but how easy they are to wear also.

“Price is also a big factor with you being able to get many good quality pieces all for under £30.

“After having a sneak peak of the upcoming collection there are so many more amazing pieces that are dropping over the next few months to keep your eyes on.

“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and amazing accessories, as well as great wardrobe staples that will last year on year.”

Meanwhile, someone else added: “Great slim flared jeans. Purchased the white and love them… They have a 60s vibe which I love.

“Not washed yet but if they’re anything like my other pairs of M&S jeans, they’ll wash well. Delighted with my purchase.”

At the same time, another fashionista wrote: “Love these jeans, beautifully soft and fit brilliantly.

“I’m 5ft5 but bought the short, as M&S trousers are always too long.

“I wanted these to actually look cropped as they are supposed to, and they do. Being high-waisted they sit nicely without having to keep pulling them up.”

Hottest fashion trends of 2025

Fabulous’ Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street.

The East/West Bag

Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s’ shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber.

In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder.

They’ve been on runway models’ arms at nearly ever designer show – think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta – and are hitting the high street now, too.

Powder pink

Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025.

Pantone may say that it’s the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own.

If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour.

The shell jacket

The ’80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025.

We all know we’re likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket.

Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in ‘80s windbreakers’.

Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion!

The turn-up jeans

While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we’re styling them is different.

This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups.

For this look, size doesn’t matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good – but only as it’s just one single fold.

Peep-toe shoe

Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event.

After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style.

From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street.

Sheer blouses

See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life – until now.

Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S ’25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season.

Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks.
