The Prince and Princess of Wales are both “enormously touched” by the outpouring of kindness from people across the world after Kate bravely shared the news of her cancer diagnosis.

The royal couple shared the update in a statement released tonight after Kate, 42, spoke about the “huge shock” of being treated for the disease.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness’ message.

“They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time.”

US President Joe Biden was among the well wishers and said in a statement on X: “Jill and I join millions around the world in praying for your full recovery, Princess Kate.”

First Lady Jill Biden posted: “You are brave, and we love you.”

Dame Joan Collins said: “I think we’re all going to pray for her. And I think that she is going to survive. She’s going to come out of this feeling strong. She’s young.

“And I think that she was very, very brave to make the announcement herself. Very brave, very unusual for a while to do that. And I have great admiration for her as a woman as a person.”

Davina McCall shared an illustration of Kate with her three children on Instagram and wrote: “They’ve been through enough. Now let’s give them some space to recover.”

Martin Kemp shared a picture of his family when they met Kate as part of a short film about mental health and said: “Sending so much Kemp love to the Princess of Wales and all her Family.”

Foreign Secretary and former PM Lord David Cameron said in a post on X: “My thoughts go out to The Princess of Wales, The Prince of Wales and their three young children at this time.

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau said: “My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales, her children, and the entire Royal Family following the news of her cancer so courageously shared.

“On behalf of Canadians, I’m sending my support as she undergoes treatment.

We’re all wishing her a swift recovery.”

The Australian PM Anthony Albanese said that his thoughts and the those of all Australians were with Kate after her shock cancer news.

He said: “The Princess of Wales has shown extraordinary courage with her public statement today, in which she expresses her concern for others.

“We are sending support and strength in this difficult time as she undergoes treatment, and we wish her well for a speedy recovery.”

French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on X yesterday: “In this difficult period you are going through, Brigitte and I wish you a full recovery.

“Your strength and resilience inspire us all.”

Kate Garraway called the announcement “such tough heart breaking news” and said: “Sending love to Catherine, HRH Princess of Wales, and her beloved family and all those fighting for their health and those of their loved ones.”

Sky News presenter Kay Burley said on X: “Thoughts with Kate and her family & to all dealing with the spectre of cancer in their family.

“Especially my baby sister, Jacqueline, who has been stoic in her determination to take on a disease that claimed both my mother and grandmother.”
