Occasional Digest - a story for you

WE ALL know that rules were made to be broken, and even Queen Camilla seems to think so.

The Queen Consort has broken royal protocol many times for the better – from holding hands with fans to taking selfies with the public.

WITH LOVE

While it’s common for us to attend the hospital with loved ones – it’s not for the royal family.

Many people were stunned to see Queen Camilla escort King Charles to the hospital for his recent prostate surgery.

The couple are no stranger to showing their affections for each other in public even if it means breaking the rules.

The late Queen and Prince Philip always went to hospital alone, making the touching scene very rare.

Royal expert, Chris Ship said: “Queen Camilla has gone into the hospital with King Charles.

“Whilst this might seem normal for most families, it is very unusual for the Royal Family to accompany their spouse like this (the late Queen and Prince Philip always went into hospital on their own.)”

King Charles left hospital earlier this week with Camilla by his side as he now takes time to recover at home.

SAY CHEESE

It’s one thing to ask you favourite celebrity for a selfie but it’s quite another to ask a royal.

Although it’s not strictly a rule, it is discouraged for royal family members to pose for selfies.

“Royals would always rather have a personal interaction than have people clamouring for selfies,” explained royal commentator Victoria Arbiter.

“If you grant one, then it quickly becomes overwhelming… From a security standpoint, they’re also not ideal as they warrant a certain closeness.”

Camilla has broken the rule numerous times, when visiting a Scottish cafe that provides food for the homeless she happily posed for selfies with volunteers and staff.

HEAD FIRST

It’s common practice for women marrying into the royal family to wear a tiara – typically lent by the late Queen.

However, Camilla skipped this tradition on her wedding day to King Charles.

Opting for two hats to wear on her big day instead designed by Irish milliner Philip Treacy.

For the civil ceremony she sported a huge white hat with a netted brim and peacock-esque festoons.

For the church blessing Camilla decided to go for an extravegant gold hat embelished with gold feathers.

PURPLE REIGN

During Commonwealth Day it’s common for royals to sport the colours of the Union Jack – red, white or blue.

However, Camilla stepped away from tradition and dressed herself head-to-toe in purple in 2022.

While other royals wore various shades of blue during the service, Camilla stood out in her attire.

It’s said, she wore the look as homage to the Late Queen Elizabeth, who wore a similar colour previously and could not attend as she was recovering form Covid 19.

HANDS UP

The Queen’s softer side came out to play when she met Jason Tweedie-Long, a blind five-year-old boy, who was eager to meet the her and King Charles.

The royal couple were attend York for the unveiling of a statue of the late Queen Elizabeth when they met the adorable tot.

The pair gave Jason the memory of a lifetime as they held his hand and walked him through the streets of York.

The Evening Standard notes, members of the public aren’t really allowed to touch monarchs, save for a friendly handshake, but the pair let it slide on this adorable occasion.
