Community Shield 2025 LIVE SCORE: Penalties on NOW as Liverpool vs Crystal Palace ends LEVEL – latest updates

View of SunSport’s Martin Lipton from Wembley

Penalties, then. But the longer that went on, the more likely Palace were to win it.

Credit to Glasner and his side.

They might have caved in with the way Liverpool started, boosted by that terrific Etitike opener.

But they refused to buckle, trusted in their game plan and got stronger and stronger as the match wore on.

Indeed, Mateta, set up by Richards, had a great chance to clinch it.

The disruption of the Jota “silence” was a black mark for the Palace fans. A huge one.

After that, though, they were relentless in creating a wall of noise, backing their team, slaughtering Uefa and Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

It was the palace supporters who created the atmosphere. Then again, Liverpool are used to this place. For Palace, it is still something new.

As is a shoot-out for a trophy.

Man Utd transfer news LIVE: United ANNOUNCE Benjamin Sesko, Garnacho’s EXIT updates, Baleba contact made

How Sesko sizes up

Sesko’s imminent announcement at Man Utd will make him the club’s third high-profile attacking signing of the summer.

His £74million fee from RB Leipzig raises the Red Devils’ spending in the department to over £200million for the window.

But transfer fees are not the only place they are splashing the cash this window.

Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko all slot into the list of the top 10 highest earners at the club after their arrivals.

Newcastle scramble after Sesko loss

Newcastle are considering a move for Porto striker Samu Aghehowa to bolster their attacking options.

The 21-year old is one of a few options the club are looking at according to transfer guru David Ornstein.

The news comes after Newcastle’s nightmare window was made worse yet again, as Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko chose Man Utd over a move to the North East.

The Magpies are also looking at other options including Brentford’s Yoanne Wissa and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.

They have also reportedly been offered Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic as part of a shock swap deal with midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Ratcliffe reflects on Carrington upgrade

Man Utd co-owner Jim Ratcliffe is pleased with the outcome of the works on Carrington.

He said of the project: “Following a review of the facility last year, we made a quick decision to invest significantly in the creation of a world-class performance environment for staff and players to reflect our ambition and vision for Manchester United.

“We are delighted with the outcome and are confident the new facility will play an important role in building a winning culture at the club.”

Club complete works on Carrington

Man Utd have announced the completion of the £50million redevelopment of the men’s first-team building at the Carrington Training Complex.

The year-long project, led by Foster + Partners under the direction of renowned Mancunian architect Lord Norman Foster, has successfully delivered a leading-edge, high-performance training environment designed to inspire collaboration, innovation and excellence.

The project, financed with part of the £250m of capital invested into the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe last year, has been completed on time and within budget, more than a week before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Equipment and technology have been upgraded throughout, with a focus on fitness, nutrition, recovery and team unity.

Designed with input from players and staff, priority has been placed on functionality, openness, and connectivity, with increased natural light and open workspaces.

Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Sesko LANDS in Manchester ahead of medical, Garnacho’s EXIT updates, Baleba contact made

Rashford facing Barcelona nightmare

Marcus Rashford is one of seven Barcelona stars at risk of not being registered in time for their LaLiga opener.

As has been the case throughout the last few years, Barca find themselves scrambling around in order to navigate LaLiga financial rules and register all their players.

With one of their highest-earners Marc-Andre ter Stegen a long-term absentee, the Catalan side felt that they had found a loophole in order to solve their issues.

In order to do so, however, club bosses need Ter Stegen to sign off on a medical report being sent to the league, which he has so far failed to do.

That means up to SEVEN Barcelona stars may be unable to play against RCD Mallorca, including Rashford.

Sesko delivery

Benjamin has touched down in the UK ahead of his medical with Manchester United.

The Slovenia international is on the verge of completing a sensational transfer from RB Leipzig to the Red Devils.

United have been battling Prem rivals Newcastle for the striker’s signature and stole a march on the Magpies on Thursday by agreeing a £74million deal with Leipzig for the 22-year-old.

The deal will see United pay an initial £66.5m and an additional £7.3m in add-ons.

When is Sesko’s unveiling?

Benjamin Sesko will complete his transfer to Man United today.

But his announcement may not be made today too.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Red Devils will confirm the transfer on Saturday.

It is even possible that he could be presented to fans at the pre-season friendly against Fiorentina.

Sesko’s plan today

Benjamin Sesko is set to become a Manchester United player TODAY.

The Slovenian flew into Manchester last night on a private jet ahead of his £74million move from RB Leipzig.

It is thought that he will have his medical and sign his contract later today.

Hojlund suitor

Rasmus Hojlund reportedly has one named suitor this summer.

The striker could be allowed to leave Manchester United on loan following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that AC Milan are interested in the Dane and could make another move for him before the end of the window.

Transfer business

Here is a look at all the transfer business completed by Manchester United this summer.

Benjamin Sesko’s impending arrival is not included as he is yet to be announced.

Sesko deal takes twist

Man Utd’s tussle with Newcastle over Benjamin Sesko has welcomed a new twist.

The Red Devils and the Magpies have been hot on the heels of the Slovenian striker, 22, in recent weeks.

And now, according to German outlet Bild, Sesko has told both clubs that he is only opening to joining them.

Sesko informed his agent that he will choose between either Man Utd or Newcastle if he were to leave RB Leipzig this summer.

The chat allegedly took place during a meeting on Sunday after Sesko was left out of Leipzig’s squad for their friendly against Atalanta.

Newcastle made their first move on Saturday with a club-record offer worth £69.8million including add-ons.

But that was knocked back by Leipzig who are now demanding £70million guaranteed.

The total package is expected to exceed £70million when the clubs include add-ons.

Everton agree Dewsbury-Hall deal

Everton have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The deal includes a £25million fixed fee with add-ons which could take it up to £28/£29m.

Newcastle set to re-enter race for Guehi

Newcastle are set to go back in for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, according to The Times.

However, the Magpies are not willing to pay more than £40million.

Palace currently value him at £50m.

Everton make improved Dibling bid

Everton have tabled a fresh bid to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, according to The Athletic.

The offer is understood to be in the region of £40million including add-ons.

However, Southampton are expected to reject it and demand a higher fee.

Burnley reach Ugochukwu agreement

Burnley have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, according to The Athletic.

The 21-year-old has been granted permission to undergo medical tests.

Should all go to plan, he will pen a five-year deal.

First match of the night

It seems like we will kick things off with a Tag Team Match tonight at SummerSlam.

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso will reunite to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

This will be quite a bout after some intense confrontations and beatdowns the last few weeks.

And – well – Reigns will be especially frustrated after his opponents stole his boots…

Hello from New Jersey

And a big hello from me – Kostas Lianos.

Tonight I will be bringing you all the live action from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

It’s good to be back in Jersey, where I covered WrestleMania 35 six years ago.

Can’t wait to report the first ever two-night SummerSlam event!

Tonight’s main event

Gunther and CM Punk are both generational Superstars who look very different on the surface, but it’s hard to pair up two more skilled competitors inside the squared circle in the headline fight on Night 1.

Last year, the Second City Saint competed in his first SummerSlam clash in 11 years but fell short against Drew McIntyre in Cleveland.

The World Heavyweight Champion, meanwhile, is 2-0 all-time at SummerSlam with wins over Damian Priest and McIntyre the last two years.

CM Punk has been clear since his return to WWE that he’s committed to reclaiming championship gold.

Will it be Gunther or Punk who steals the show at The Biggest Event of the Summer?

Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Red Devils ‘bid’ for Tchouameni, Sancho’s ‘positive’ Juventus talks, Mbeumo updates

Cunha believe it?

Manchester United signing Matheus Cunha revealed he has one of Marcus Rashford’s shirts at home.

Cunha made that statement just days after taking Rashford’s No10 shirt at Man Utd.

I always think about this shirt – the one I think about is Wayne Rooney, I grew up watching him play.

Many players, [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.

I swapped shirts with Marcus Rashford also, I have his shirt in my home

Bryan Mbeumo ‘frustrated’

Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer saga continues to drag on.

According to the Evening Standard, Mbeumo is reportedly “frustrated” that he is yet to join United.

Man Utd have seen two bids rejected by the Bees for the forward, with the Red Devils yet to make a third offer.

It’s now been five weeks since the Cameroon international told his club he wants to move to Manchester.

Man Utd eye DCL – EXCLUSIVE

Manchester United are making a shock move to sign free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is available after leaving Everton at the end of his contract last month.

United boss Ruben Amorim wants to snap up Calvert-Lewin as the club juggle their finances and try to build a new forward line.

Insiders have revealed the club reached out to the striker about the possibility of a surprise move from Merseyside to Manchester.

Man Utd have already landed Matheus Cunha for £62.5million from Wolves and also bid the same figure for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

But Amorim is also looking to offload attackers, Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony all in the firing line.

If the Red Devils balance the books successfully then it could create a gap in the Portuguese tactician’s squad for a new man who can lead the line but would also be happy to be a back-up forward.

United set for Elanga windfall

Man United will bank a tidy figure from Anthony Elanga’s Newcastle move.

The Nottingham Forest winger looks set to join Toon in a deal worth £60million.

United are entitled to around 15 per cent after selling Elanga to Forest for £15m in 2023.

And it means they are set to pocket around £7m from his north-east switch.

Hojlund keen on staying

Rasmus Hojlund does not want to leave Man United this summer.

But the striker doesn’t appear to have many suitors anyway.

Inter Milan were linked before their purchase of Ange-Yoan Bonny.

And Hojlund now looks set to remain unless there are offers later in the window.

Jadon’s Italian job

Juventus are hoping to sign Jadon Sancho.

But Man United want £15million for the winger.

He is back at Old Trafford after failing to secure a permanent Chelsea move.

Juventus are now lining up an offer but Sancho’s £250,000-a-week wages remain a stumbling block.

Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Herndon LIVE RESULTS: Bronze Bomber returns with controversial stoppage win – updates

Exclusive – Wilder’s next fight

Nelson Lopez Jr – who promoted Wilder’s comeback fight – told SunSport the American’s next comeback fight is already pencilled in.

And then an anticipated showdown against Anthony Joshua has been targeted for next year.

Nelson said: “We got a tentative deal and we’re just going one by one.

“We have the next one set up, this one set up, nothing solid for the third one – you know how boxing is, there’s no path of how you succeed.

“We have to get over this, so anything can happen. We got to get over the next one. Anything can happen.

“And then, you know maybe Eddie (Hearn) will sit at the table and see what we can do something with AJ.”

Wilder speaks

Deontay Wilder said: “It felt great. Thanks to my opponent, I appreciate the work.

“I’ve been laid off for a long time, getting myself back together, repairing myself emotionally.

“It is just nice to be back in the ring. This is a new beginning for me.”

Wilder floors Herndon

Deontay Wilder floored Tyrrell Herndon twice before winning his comeback fight in seven rounds.

The former WBC heavyweight world champion returned to the ring in Wichita, Kansas against little-known Herndon.

And he did so without a win since 2022 – having lost on points to Joseph Parker before a crushing KO defeat to Zhilei Zhang.

But Wilder did get back in the win column after dropping Herndon first in round two with a left hook then with a combination in the seventh.

World Cup of Darts 2025 LIVE RESULTS: Northern Ireland WIN thrilling final over Gerwyn Price’s Wales – updates

Emotional Northern Ireland triumph

Josh Rock burst into tears on stage after Northern Ireland won a dramatic World Cup last leg decider.

His team partner Daryl Gurney hit double eight to wrap up an epic 10-9 win over Wales in the final in Frankfurt last night (Sunday).

Rock, 24, and Gurney then dropped to their knees on stage in scenes of incredible emotion as they picked up their first world titles and an £80,000 jackpot.

He said: “When we said we are paired together we’ll win it. We didn’t expect to do it, but we did it.

“As a team we were fantastic. We fought hard all the way through.”

Debut fizzles out for Dutchman

Gian van Veen had a great tournament personally but could not take his team all the way to the trophy.

The disappointment will be raw right now but when he reflects on it, there is a lot he can learn from it.

It should give him the confidence that if he is on his game, he cann beat anyone on the darts circuit right now.

Making a country proud

Northern Ireland have produced plenty of good darts players over the years but winning a World Cup requires something very different.

They came into this tournament as fourth seeds, full of talent, but unable to produce it enough with the regularity needed to win titles.

Both players put the comments of the doubters to one side and produced the best darts of their careers in Germany.

This victory is something special and this pair will be partying long into the night, something they have surely earned this weekend.

World Cup of Darts 2025 LIVE RESULTS: England’s Luke Littler and Humphries face Germany TODAY in huge tie – updates

Humphries reacts to MBE

The world number one said: “I’m extremely honoured and delighted to be receiving an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to darts.

“To be recognised by the King for what I have achieved, and also for my contribution to playing in and promoting the sport that I love, is something that I never thought possible, but I’m very grateful that it has become a reality.

“I have enjoyed the highest of highs in darts in becoming world number one and winning the biggest tournaments that the game has to offer, but to be awarded the MBE will rank alongside any of those achievements.

“I have to give a massive thanks to my fiancée Kayley, and my family, particularly my mum and dad, who have been a constant source of support over the years and helped make me the person that I am today.

“To say that I’m looking forward to visiting Buckingham Palace is an understatement. To receive the MBE there with my family with me is something that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

“I’ll continue to be a good ambassador for darts, and help pave the way for future generations to be involved and succeed in a sport that has given so much to me.”

Littler reacts to MBE

The 18-year-old said: “This is an amazing and unexpected honour but one which I am very grateful for.

“To receive a recognition like this is something I had never thought would be possible, and it is a proud moment.

“It’s unbelievable what I’ve done for my sport; I’m happy, my family is happy and I can’t wait to receive it.

“Congratulations to Luke Humphries on receiving an MBE too – he’s a fantastic ambassador for darts, and although he’s a rival, I can’t wait to partner him in the World Cup this weekend.”

ICYMI

From Alexandra Palace to the Royal Palaces, what an extraordinary ride it has been for Luke Littler.

Two years ago, he was just a normal, kebab-eating kid from Warrington who dreamt of one day making money from darts.

What has happened since is one of the most sensational stories in British sport.

A shock World Championship final run in 2024, turning pro, taking the oche by storm, global popularity, the 2025 world title at just 17 and more than £2million in prize money and sponsorship.

Littler has even had novelty kebabs named in his honour.

And now he will go, by royal appointment, to collect an MBE as part of the King’s Birthday Honours list.

Draw reaction

Good job England and Scotland were both seeded…

They’ve been handed a couple of huge ties against Germany and Netherlands!

It’s all set up for a sensational day of action tomorrow!

Humphries reacts

“To be recognised by the King for what I have achieved, and also for my contribution to playing in and promoting the sport that I love, is something that I never thought possible, but I’m very grateful that it has become a reality.

Welcome to SunSport’s coverage of the Nations League final!

Football lovers cannot wait to see what unfolds in the Nations League final tonight between Portugal and Spain – and we’ll be all over it!

La Roja are on a fantastic international run as they are on the hunt for a third international trophy in three years.

pain won the Nations League in 2023 against Croatia and the Euro’s last year overcoming England in the final.

They will be attempting to become back to back Nations League champions and are well on the way after overcoming France in an enthralling 9 goal encounter.

Once again it was the Barcelona star Lamine Yamal who was the talk of the game as he won player of the match by scoring two goals in his sides 5-4 win.

However, the footballing icon Cristiano Ronaldo will want to show the teenager who’s boss with a second Nations League win.

The Portuguese forward scored his 137th international goal – breaking yet another record – for his country against Germany to win the game 2-1 and secure a final spot.

Ronaldo had never beaten Germany before in his career – he has played Germany five times, losing all five but he was the difference maker in the semi-final.

The main battle of the game will definitely be between the teenage sensation Yamal and footballing phenomenon Ronaldo.

Class Kelly

Josh Kelly is confident that he will show everyone why he believes he is world class.

The Brit boxer said: “Biea has shown he’s got what plenty of others in my division haven’t – the minerals to step up and fight me.

“You have to respect his warrior mentality but there are levels to this game, and on June 6, I will show him, and everyone watching on Channel 5, why I am world class.

“Biea will no doubt think he’ll be able to walk me down, but I’ll make him miss, and then I’ll make him pay.

“It will be beautiful and brutal.”

Welcome to SunSport’s coverage of Josh Kelly vs Flavius Biea

Former Olympian Josh Kelly returns to action for a huge welterweight clash against WBC Latino champion Flavius Biea!

Kelly is in incredible form having won his last six fights dating back to June 2022.

However, Kelly’s last performance was underwhelming as he was forced to battle through a Ishmael Davis onslaught before picking up a decision win on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois.

And his upcoming is set to be another tough one as Biea enters this bout on a 12-fight winning streak, last beating Jonathan Jose Eniz to claim the then vacant WBC Latino Super Welterweight belt.

This fight has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster encounter and SunSport can provide fans with all the information ahead of fight night.

Premier League Darts LIVE RESULTS: Luke Littler into final after BEATING Gerwyn Price in epic contest – updates

*Luke Littler 8-7 Gerwyn Price

A Littler hold of throw as the break came at the right time for Littler – he’s won four of the five legs since!

That one sees him miss D12 for an 84 checkout but Price isn’t on a finish to punish, leaving Littler the chance to come back for D6 and takes it.

Luke Littler 7-7 Gerwyn Price*

Another BREAK of throw as Littler brings the match back level again!

He could’ve wrapped it up early, missing a dart at D16 for a superb 143 checkout. Price can’t take out 160, leaving Littler to come back for D16 and he takes it with his second dart.

Reminder, it’s first to 10. No margin for error from here.

*Luke Littler 6-7 Gerwyn Price

Ohh what a dart from Gerwyn Price to BREAK the Littler throw once more!

Price had a dart on the floor in his set-up too and Littler leaves 40 to put the pressure on the 86 Price did eventually leave.

Single 18, T18 leaves D7 and he finds it superbly!

Luke Littler 6-6 Gerwyn Price*

It looked a monumental leg and Littler BREAKS Price for it!

Back all-square as Price misses a dart at D10 for a 100 checkout, instead busting his score going into D15.

Price gets another go at it but can’t leave a finish this time as Littler misses a dart at tops this time. But he comes back for 20 and hits 10, D5 to bring us back level.

*Luke Littler 5-6 Gerwyn Price

Bloomin’ heck, he’s coming out swinging, Littler!

He misses a dart at D20 for a 10-dart hold of throw before pinning it next time for a good 11-dart leg.

That included a 180 and 147 set-up to leave 40. Maybe a sign of this second half….

Price leads at the break

Given Littler had the darts in leg one, Price will be absolutely thrilled to take a 6-4 lead into the break.

But in truth, it could and probably SHOULD be more comfortable.

Littler hasn’t got going yet and the frustration is etched across his face, even before storming off stage when Price took out the 40 in leg 10.

Price is leading the 180 count 3-1, more 140s, better checkout success and highest checkout!

Transfer news LIVE: Liverpool ‘finalise’ Wirtz deal, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr EXIT, Delap and Cunha updates

Gunners tipped for Pedro

Colin Kazim-Richards has urged Arsenal to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton.

He told betideas.com: “Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with Pedro. I think he’s an outstanding prospect.

“I’ve watched him a few times live, once this season at Arsenal. He stood out for me.

“He’s the type of player that I think would fit into Arsenal really well and I think he would give them something different to what they already have. He’s good. He’s top shelf.”

BREAKING: Zubimendi set for Arsenal medical

Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is set to have a medical ahead of a £51million move to the Gunners.

According to the BBC, all the relevant documents have been signed and the deal is entering its closing stages.

The deal is subject to a successful medical that Arsenal are said to be in the process of organising.

Once the medical is complete, the Gunners will be in a position to officially announce the signing of the Spanish international.

Arsenal reportedly beat Spanish giants Real Madrid to Zubimendi’s signature.

Ronaldo on the move?

Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to depart Al-Nassr when his contract runs out.

And he could end up joining a new team in time for the Club World Cup.

Ronnie is known to be a target for sides in Brazil and Morocco.

But could he end up joining Chelsea in a stunning free transfer?

Wirtz close to Liverpool

Florian Wirtz is reportedly nearing a record move to Liverpool.

The Reds are already wrapping up a £35million move for Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong.

But reports claim they are now progressing in talks with Wirtz on a lucrative five-year deal.

Liverpool are ready to pay a British transfer record fee of over £120m, with Wirtz favouring them over fellow suitors Bayern Munich.

Serie A LIVE SCORES: Napoli vs Cagliari and Como vs Inter updates as title race goes to wire in Italy – latest

Good afternoon and welcome to SunSport’s live blog of tonight’s Serie A action!

The winner of the Scudetto could be confirmed today with title rivals Napoli and Inter playing their final games of the season.

Napoli are league leaders with 79 points, and a win over Cagliari would secure their second league title in three years.

A draw would also be enough, but that would require Inter not to win at Como.

Inzaghi’s side can only win the league title tonight if they win and Napoli drop points.

There is a scenario that both clubs could finish on the same points after 38 games, which would trigger a one-off play-off next week.
