Holly Willoughby’s TV producer husband in licensing rights row with Butlin’s over its Gladiators shows

HOLLY Willoughby’s TV producer husband is caught up in a licensing rights row with Butlin’s over its Gladiators shows.

It has left characters from the BBC hit having to compete in black tracksuits rather than their on-screen costumes because of the dispute.

And the stage for the Meet The Stars of Gladiators experience at Butlin’s is free of the usual logos and branding.

Sources say producer Dan Baldwin’s company, Hungry Bear Media, agreed the deal with Butlin’s.

But while it makes Gladiators for the BBC, it only holds television rights. US entertainment giant MGM owns the original format and branding.

A source said: “It seems Dan’s Hungry Bear Media and Butlin’s have got into a row over this.

“It’s resulted in the Gladiators coming out in an all-black outfit on a stage with no TV logos behind it.”

The cast competes in front of audiences at Butlin’s’ Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness resorts. The games are not based on those seen on TV.

Fan Sarah Longden said: “The stars were in black tracksuits today. We assumed they didn’t have their outfits because of licensing.” Another said: “Electro and Phantom were in tracksuits. Shocking.”

Butlin’s apologised for changing some show dates but did not comment on the licensing rights.

All the pictures of the cast in their costumes have been taken off the website.

MGM and Hungry Bear Media declined to comment.

What goes around comes around, says Ben Cohen’s ex after Kristina Rihanoff split & reveals ‘why Strictly pair broke up’

FORMER Strictly star Ben Cohen’s ex-wife Abby has spoken about his split from pro dancer Kristina Rihanoff saying: “What goes around comes around.”

Photographer Abby Cohen was left heartbroken when the Curse of Strictly struck and Ben left her for Kristina after his 2013 stint on the show.

Abby, 47, said: “How they met is not, in my opinion, a solid enough foundation because it was all about lust and was a physical thing. It wasn’t an organic way to meet.’’

At the time of the split, Abby said she was furious Ben had left her for “a f***ing Russian dancer”.

But now she has said: “I’m sad that their relationship has ended. I do feel sorry for him.

“Our marriage broke down and now it’s happening all over again to him.

“He’s got another child and he’s got to start again from nothing in his late 40s, from being so successful as a rugby player to now reading of his business failures.

“I’m hoping this will bring some closure now. It reminds me of all the hurt I went through back then, my break-up. What goes around comes around.”

Abby is still unable to watch Strictly Come Dancing and thinks her experience with Ben gave her post-traumatic stress disorder.

She said: “I’d never watched Strictly before, I’ve never watched it since. It was a big part of my sadness.

“When I hear the music, it gives me PTSD. It seems to be the curse show, they might as well change the name of it.

“It’s not about dancing any more. It’s about who’s gonna go off with who this year.

Inside Kristina Rihanoff’s split with Strictly lover Ben Cohen – with close relationship with ex-wife Abby at centre of tension

“And I just think that’s really sad as the people involved have allowed it to become that way.

“It’s about the gossip, and the end of my marriage was a result of that. I’m amazed people still find it interesting.

“If I do see that someone on the show has been having an affair, it just makes me feel really sad, because behind it is someone who is hurt like me. I was broken.

“I don’t get angry any more because there’s no point. I don’t have much memory of the time because it was so traumatic.

“I was in a mess. I didn’t want to be here any more. I was really poorly. I sought help and support. I was really sad for a long time.”

Abby was first flung into the spotlight in 2013 when Rugby World Cup winner Ben, now 46, was partnered with Kristina, 47, on Strictly Come Dancing.

Ben and Abby had been married since 2002 and had twin daughters in 2008. But Ben eventually left her for his Russian pro partner.

Kristina and Ben had a child themselves in 2016 and got engaged three years ago. But Abby was not surprised to hear that the relationship had broken down.

She said: “I think a successful relationship is always built on a strong foundation, and maybe because of the nature of how it began, theirs wasn’t.

“I just feel for him because it affects my girls, you know, that they’re having to go through another split.

“They’ve already done it once. They were too young to remember, but they’re older and a bit more resilient now, but they’ve still got to go through more change.”

Abby admits she no longer feels angry towards Kristina, but is pleased she will not be doing any more interviews about her relationship with her ex.

She said: “I don’t know what her next step is. It gives me peace that every time Kristina wants to do an interview, she’s not going to talk about this again, it’s done.

“So I feel quite relieved about that. It was like a constant reminder of everything I went through.

“I hope she finds what she’s looking for and everyone can learn from it. She’s a mum now so I hope she is happy.

“When it first happened, I was dealing with massive emotion. I went to therapy and learned about the grief curve. I was feeling really angry, I was cross.

“You go through anger, hurt and I had all sorts of emotions that I’d never experienced before.

“But I feel so at ease now dealing with everyday tasks.”

Despite both living in Northampton, Abby has not seen Kristina since the 2013 series.

And she is grateful that their paths have never crossed.

She said: “I haven’t seen Kristina since the show. It’s really weird and bizarre, we live in the same town. I can’t believe that.

“I think the universe kept us apart to protect my emotions. I used to worry about bumping into her.”

Ben and Abby started dating aged 16. And after they had the twins, Ben was “a big family man”.

Abby said: “Ben was just a home boy. He just did his job well in sport and he came home and mowed the grass.

Me and Kristina are very different. We like different things.

Abby Cohen

“We were probably quite boring to be honest, quite down to earth.”

His decision to take part in Strictly seemed like a great career move at the time.

Abby said: “Strictly was the most popular reality show on TV, that’s why it was a good idea for Ben to do it at that point — he appealed to everyone. The family man. I was the girl next door. He was a good candidate for it.

“When Strictly filmed all the behind-the-scenes footage and it was all about Ben and his girls, he lived for us.

“Throughout our whole relationship, Ben was my hero.

“He worshipped the ground I walked on. He just got partnered with the wrong one.”

At the time Kristina was partnered with Ben, she had just split from boxer boyfriend Joe Calzaghe. They had got together after being paired on Strictly four years earlier.

But Abby has questioned if bosses should have let her take part. She said: “Looking back, I don’t know if it was the right time for her to do that show, given her own relationship had just broken down.

“I don’t know if she was in a bad place at the time because she had just split with Joe Calzaghe.”

Country girl Abby also marvels at how different she and Kristina are. She said: “I’m a family girl. I make soups and Sunday roasts, but I don’t know if Kristina does that. I don’t actually know what she does. Me and Kristina are very different. We like different things.

“She doesn’t have any wellies, put it that way. She doesn’t pick up dog poo or muck out her horses every day like I have to. We’re completely different.”

Two years ago, Abby was successfully treated for bowel cancer and views life differently now. She has found happiness with her partner David and enjoys earning her own money for her daughters.

‘Ben wouldn’t know me now’

She said: “For me, now I can say I’m actually pleased that it happened. I’m actually really happy now. I’ve built an amazing life photography career and I’m not following him around as a wife watching him play rugby.

“I’ve found me and become an independent, strong woman, who’s fought cancer, who’s managed to bring up the girls the best I can.

“It makes me feel emotional. Ben wouldn’t know me now. I’ve got a lovely home. I’ve got a huge circle of friends that are all amazing.

“I’ve got two gorgeous girls, who are about to start their lives.”

During her cancer fight, Abby raised awareness of the disease and the symptoms, appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, and she has been inundated with messages of support from other women.

She said: “If I can take a positive from my whole 12-year experience of this trauma that I’ve been through, it’s the fact that I’m able to raise awareness and that’s a nice thing that’s come from something that’s really sad.

“People approach me in the street to say that hearing about my experience has made them go to the doctors.

“What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. I feel really resilient now.”

Foreign crooks and failed asylum seekers face deportation crackdown as ministers target human rights loopholes

A REVIEW of loopholes in the European Convention on Human Rights could make it harder for foreign crooks and failed asylum seekers to stay.

The Home Office is looking into how judges use Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights – the “right to a family life” – to block deportations.

A Whitehall insider said: “We basically want to make sure it can’t be exploited after a small amount of cases where Article 8 has been interpreted pretty broadly.”

One case saw a foreign criminal avoid removal even though their spouse was dead.

Another let a Palestinian family stay under a visa scheme meant for Ukrainians.

The Sun understands officials are now looking at whether UK courts are too soft and if Britain should follow other countries in closing loopholes.

They are weighing up new guidance or even changing the law to speed up deportations and curb asylum claims.

Downing Street yesterday insisted the PM has been clear “it should be Parliament that makes the rules” and it should be “Government who makes the policy”.

The Prime Minister’s spokesman added: “The Home Secretary is continuing to review the application of Article 8 within the immigration system, and will set out further details in due course.”

The move marks a stunning shift for Sir Keir Starmer, a lifelong defender of the ECHR, who has repeatedly backed the court’s role in UK law.

Tory chief Kemi Badenoch last week said migrants should be banned from using human rights laws to fight deportation in the British courts.

Labour rebels warned to get behind welfare reforms or face losing their seats

LABOUR rebels have been warned to get behind welfare reforms — or face losing their seats.

The MPs are risking a voter backlash if they block plans to get the long-term sick back to work, a party insider claimed.

British pound coins and banknotes.

1

Tough new rules could force 2.4 million claimants currently off work sick to start preparing for employmentCredit: PA

The source said: “They’ll have to look voters in the eye and admit they’re happy to do nothing while welfare costs spiral out of control.”

It comes amid fears of a major rebellion over a planned £6bn crackdown on disability benefits due to be announced early next week.

Labour MPs were dragged into crisis talks at No10 as officials laid bare Britain’s spiralling benefits bill.

The latest figures show 1.8 million Universal Credit claimants now receive no job-search support.

The figure is nearly four times it was before the pandemic.

And under-25s deemed too sick to work have more than tripled to 160,000.

The Government said this means the system is “effectively abandoning” millions by locking them out of work indefinitely.

The health and disability-related benefits bill is now £65bn a year.

It is projected to increase to £100bn over the next four years.

“Don’t ask me to run; my boobs are not made for that.”

But she said she no longer feels defined by being “sexy” and can now take on roles which aren’t just based on how she looks.

Salma continued: “There was a time when I was the sexy girl, but thank God age came and gave me the ability to expand to other territories.

“Although I’m still sexy and I embrace it.

Police must be far more open with the Press to stop infernos of speculation and dangerous lies on social media

Cops, open up

IN the social media age, police simply have to be far more open with the Press.

That’s not The Sun saying so, though we agree. It’s the Government’s terrorism tsar Jonathan Hall.

A burning police vehicle and street debris during a protest in Southport, England.

A social media inferno of speculation and often dangerous lies triggered rioting after the Southport atrocity

Spooked by the infamous Leveson witch-hunt into the Press, cops foolishly opted to keep us — and the public — in the dark whenever possible.

The frequent result now is a social media inferno of speculation and often dangerous lies.

After the Southport atrocity, that triggered rioting.

Police, and Keir Starmer too, claimed releasing details could have prejudiced Axel Rudakubana’s trial. It was always nonsense.

He was a remorseless monster who slaughtered three little girls out of pure evil. It is inconceivable his case could ever have collapsed.

And as Mr Hall says in his official report on the horror: “The disinformation on social media, combined with widespread allegations of a cover-up, risked far more prejudice” to the trial.

Near-silence from the state, he adds, “is no longer an option”.

Absolutely right. Will they listen?

Axe eco fiasco

WILL the world wake up to the insane self-harm of ceaseless COP climate summits?

Or are these vast annual jollies simply too attractive for politicians to axe them?

Cops must NOT be used as target practice by gags of yobs – forces are on high alert nation-wide, ex Met cop blasts

Last year’s was in Azerbaijan, the major oil and gas producer whose president calls fossil fuels a “gift from God” and wants to increase their output.

This year’s host Brazil is bulldozing tens of thousands of acres of precious Amazon rainforest to build an eight-mile freeway so 50,000 delegates can drive more speedily to the conference.

There, this hypocritical assembly will discuss cutting emissions while railing against the destruction of the rainforest which plays a pivotal role in that battle.

Labour still considers this farcical shindig vital — and its edicts holy writ.

But since the world’s major polluters largely ignore them, what purpose does the whole preposterous extravaganza serve?

Sack the sickos

FLASHERS who expose themselves to young girls cannot be politicians.

You’d have thought that was a golden rule in any civilised society.

Yet somehow Sam Gould, the ex-Wes Streeting aide now convicted on two counts of indecency, still seems to believe he has a future in politics.

But he cannot possibly remain a local councillor any more than he can advise the Health Secretary.

This sick oddball has left a 13-year-old victim traumatised. Neither he nor any politician convicted of a sex crime can play a role in running a society whose laws they have so grotesquely violated.

The Government intends to pass an urgent law to oust these perverts automatically if they refuse to stand down.

It cannot come soon enough.

I feel so small when I see well-endowed men pleasuring my girlfriend at swingers’ parties

DEAR DEIDRE: WHENEVER I go to a swingers’ party with my girlfriend, I find myself staring at the other men and just wishing I could be like them.

They are so manly and confident that it puts me off taking part. How can I stop thinking like this and learn to enjoy myself too?

I’m 40 and have been with my girlfriend for three years. She’s 36 and very sexually adventurous.

When we met she told me two things that were non-negotiable: she didn’t want kids, and she wanted to sleep with other men. We agreed that rather than having an open relationship or affairs, we would go to sex parties.

That way, no emotions would get involved.

The first time I saw her having sex with another man, I found myself unable to take my eyes off him.

He had a much better body than me and he was much better endowed.

But worse, he seemed to know exactly how to pleasure my girlfriend.

I felt puny and inexperienced in comparison, so much so that I didn’t have sex with anyone that night. I told my girlfriend I didn’t feel well.

Since then, it’s been the same at every party. When I see the other guys there, I lose my desire to have sex.

I’ve started lying to my girlfriend, telling her I’ve had a great time.

I’ve even made up sexual encounters with women.

Dear Deidre: Understanding why your man’s gone off sex

But it’s starting to affect my performance in bed at home, too. I feel like she must be comparing me to the party guys, and I don’t measure up.

What can I do?

DEIDRE SAYS:  There’s nothing wrong with your body or your sexual prowess.

The problem is you’ve been cajoled into going to sex parties when you don’t really want to, to keep your girlfriend happy.

You have no desire to sleep with other women, and seeing her have sex with other men is making you miserable.

Not everyone enjoys swinging. See my support pack, Swapping And Swinging for more about this.

However much you love and care about your girlfriend, you can’t change the way you’re wired sexually. You need to be honest with her – and yourself.

If she loves you, she’ll want to find a compromise.

Every problem gets a personal reply, usually within 24 hours weekdays.

PEN PAL ’S SPARKING JEALOUSY

DEAR DEIDRE: MY pen-pal friendship is causing ructions in my marriage.

I’m a woman of 58 and have no intention of ever meeting my male friend, who lives in Australia, but my husband doesn’t believe me.

I have felt lonely since my kids left home. I don’t have many local friends.

I used to have pen-pals but they don’t seem to exist any more, so I thought I’d go on a dating site.

A few weeks ago, I got chatting to a man in Australia. He told me he was 38, lived with his girlfriend and, like me, was just looking for mates.

We’ve really hit it off. He’s never asked for money and we just chat about our lives and families.

As I have nothing to hide, I told my husband. He told me I’m a fool.

DEIDRE SAYS: You’re lonely, not foolish. But dating sites aren’t the best places to form friendships.

You can’t be sure who you’re talking to or what their intentions are. Read my support pack, Staying Safe Online, for help with this.

Tell your husband how lonely you feel. Perhaps you could do more together, and go out locally to meet new people.

My support pack, Widening Your Social Scene, should help you to do this.

I FEEL SURE HE CHEATED WITH HIS EX

DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I saw an incriminating message flash up on my boyfriend’s tablet, I knew he’d lied to me about not having slept with his ex, and don’t know what to do.

We’ve been together for a year. We’re both guy, as his ex.

A few weekends ago, we went to a party together. His ex was there.

I got very tired and decided to go home early but he wanted to stay.

Later, he rang to say he was too drunk to get home, so would stay on his best mate’s sofa instead.

But while I was home a message appeared on his tablet from his best mate, saying he’d keep his secret and not tell me he was with his ex.

Now I can’t forget what I saw. He keeps asking what’s wrong.

We are both in our twenties, and how can I trust him again?

DEIDRE SAYS: Keeping this to yourself is eating you up.

You need to tell your boyfriend what you know, and explain how you found out. You can’t be certain he had sex with his ex.

Give him the chance to tell the truth. Only then can you decide if you want to rebuild the trust you’ve lost, or end your relationship.

My support pack, Cheating, Can You Get Over It?, should help you.

WITH A HARIBO, I’D THEE LOVE

DEAR DEIDRE: I DON’T understand why my boyfriend won’t propose, when he says I’m the love of his life.

It’s not like I’m asking for a big diamond ring – I’d be happy with a Haribo.

We’ve been together for three years and are in our late thirties.

We’ve both been married before, and each have a child from previous relationships.

We met online and quickly fell in love. He really is my soulmate – kind, funny, great in bed – and we have so much in common.

A year ago, we moved in together with our kids, and life has been perfect.

Except for one thing: I desperately want to be his wife. But he’s always said he never wants to get married again, after being badly burned by his first marriage, and a horrible divorce.

He says weddings are expensive, and we don’t need a piece of paper to show we’re committed, whereas I have told him how important it is to me.

He then fobs me off by saying it will happen one day, just not yet.

But I can’t see what he’s waiting for?

Now, whenever we go out on a date, or sit by the sea on holiday, I can’t help wondering if he’s about to propose, then I feel disappointed when he doesn’t. I just want to feel he loves and wants me fully, for ever.

DEIDRE SAYS: There’s no reason to doubt his love for you. You simply have different attitudes to marriage.

But you do need to make him see how much this is upsetting you, and show him you under-stand why he’s reticent.

It’s worth pointing out that marriage isn’t just about commitment.

Legally, it offers important protections to you and your kids – especially if something were to happen to one of you.

Why not suggest a low-key register office ceremony, so it’s not expensive.

My support pack, When Your Man Won’t Commit, might be helpful to read.

1Ok NHS office jobs facing axe amid Labour’s drastic health service reforms – as three more top chiefs quit

THOUSANDS of NHS office jobs are facing the chop — as three more top-ranking officials resigned yesterday in Labour’s drastic health service reforms.

Back office staff numbers will be cut by half at NHS England and the Department of Health.

The two organisations have a headcount of almost 20,000, meaning 10,000 could go.

NHS England’s chief financial, operations and delivery officers all quit on Monday.

Julian Kelly, Emily Lawson and Steve Russell, who were paid a combined £545,000 last year, follow the organisation’s medical director and CEO out of the door in Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s blitz.

He is making cuts after a review by Lord Darzi said over-management had become a burden on medical staff.

Mr Streeting will share power between local health boards and civil servants in his department.

He said: “We will work with the speed and urgency needed to meet the scale of the challenge.”

In an email to NHS staff, CEO Amanda Pritchard — who will step down at the end of March — said the shake-up would “eradicate duplication” and free more than £175million.

Her replacement and incoming ‘transition CEO’, Sir James Mackey, is setting up a new transformation team to overhaul NHS England.

He said: “We have significant challenges and changes ahead.”

Two cafes in Ukraine named after Donald Trump rip down signs in fury at US President

TWO cafes in Ukraine named after Donald Trump have ripped down their signs in fury at the US President.

The owner of Trump Coffee Bar and Trump Pizza Station, a mile apart from each other in central Kyiv, ordered the name be scratched off soon after the White House denied the country arms and intelligence.

Staff refused to comment, but will announce a new name later this month.

Online, their brand has changed to Frank.

Customer Yevhen, 38, said: “This is a great local place. It isn’t political.

“But it’s not a good time to be called Trump in Ukraine.”

He said Trump was “singing Putin’s tune.”

The IT manager added: “Everyone wants peace here. We are tired of war, we want it to end.

“But we also understand that what Trump is proposing, what Trump is doing, will mean a victory for Russia and defeat for Ukraine.

“We want Ukraine to survive.”

The pizzeria still offers a “Trumpino” option with ham, mushrooms and artichokes.

Trump sparked anger last week by condoning Putin’s bloodbath airstrikes as “what anybody else would do”.

Fury after Hamas supporter from Gaza filmed himself arriving in Britain on cross-Channel boat

FURY grew yesterday after a fanatical Hamas supporter from Gaza filmed himself arriving in Britain on a cross-Channel migrant boat.

Palestinian influencer Abu Wadei triggered a security scare after he posted video of himself flicking a V for victory sign at the front of a boat packed with migrants in orange lifejackets.

FURY grew after fanatical Hamas supporter Abu Wadei, from Gaza, filmed himself arriving in Britain on a cross-Channel migrant boatCredit: Tiktok

Jewish community leaders in the UK reacted with horror amid fears Wadei’s arrival could herald a flood of dangerous supporters of the bloodthirsty terror group.

Wadei has posted violent imagery of himself toting assault rifles, hurling slingshots and flexing his muscles in front of burning debris in the besieged Hamas stronghold.

The firebrand – whose real name is Mossab Al Qassass aged in his 20’s – has 170,000 Tiktok followers.

He also has a YouTube channel followed by 189,000 subscribers which collects money via PayPal.

Palestinian Wadei’s social media feeds show him at a rally declaring he is a member of a violent Hamas “tyre burning unit”.

He rails against Jews in the post, adding that his “loftiest aspiration” is to “die for the sake of Allah”.

He posted an anti-Jew video on his Facebook page last September, ranting: “Allah, kill them one by one, and don’t leave a single one.

“Allah, destroy them completely, disperse them completely and make the earth fall from under their feet.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “What the Home Office needs to do is identify where this despicable individual is and, frankly, remove him from the country back to Palestine immediately.

“He clearly has no place in the United Kingdom and potentially poses a threat to our fellow citizens.

Don unveils his AI-generated vision for ‘TRUMP GAZA’ with casino hotels, giant golden statues, dancing girls & cocktails with Netanyahu

“This illustrates why it is so important to get control of our borders and to stop these boat crossings.”

The UK-based Campaign Against Anti-Semitism learned of Wadei’s arrival under UK last Thursday among 245 arrivals escorted on the south coast of England on Friday.

The group said it had carried out exacting computer “body-mapping” checks comparing images of the boat arrival plus with video and images on Wadei’s online profiles.

CAA officials said they had also taken legal advice on their findings and issued an urgent appeal to the Home Office to take action.

Wadei’s post of his arrival shows his packed dinghy being escorted to UK shores by a UK Border Force patrol boat.

A spokesman said yesterday: “We are sure this man is now in the United Kingdom.

He clearly has no place in the United Kingdom and potentially poses a threat to our fellow citizens

Chris Philp

“We are asking the Home Office to take immediate action to locate Abu Wadei and ensure that he cannot pose a threat to public security.

“Anyone who may have a track record of being in any way affiliated with Hamas or promoting antisemitic rhetoric must not be permitted to endanger this country.

“If jihadis who want ‘to die for the sake of Allah’ can enter the United Kingdom from Gaza with relative ease, that poses a serious threat to national security.”

Wadei’s TikTok charts what appears to be his journey from the Middle East across Europe ending in a bus stop in France and a migrant campfire before he crossed to the UK.

The rabble rouser also appears in footage among men chanting a battle cry referring to a massacre of Jews at the Battle of Khaybar in 628.

His chant concludes: “The army of Muhammad is returning”.
Wadei’s arrival is the latest of a long list of asylum scandals.

The Sun revealed this week that Albanian crimelord Maksim Cela is still here more than two years after claiming he was entitled to stay to protect himself from rival gangsters back home.

More than 2,056 migrants have crossed the Channel in boats so far this year after a surge of 36,816 during the whole of 2024.

Around 150,000 people have arrived in small boats since 2018 and fears have spiralled of a surge from Gaza to Europe amid Donald Trump’s calls to move Palestinians out.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “We are committed to ending small boat crossings which undermine our border security, and restoring order to the asylum system to ensure that the rules are respected and enforced.

“While it is a long-standing rule that we never comment on individual cases or operational matters, the British public can be reassured that we take all steps necessary at all times to protect the nation’s security.”

But the same can’t be said for some of her bosses, who apparently reckon she is a “nightmare”.

The actress and singer has previously slagged off everyone from US President Donald Trump and his supporters to the original 1937 version of Snow White.

Rachel, who posed in a tiger-print bra and jeans for Vogue Mexico, previously said: “There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time.”

Some critics have claimed Disney’s remake is “woke” because Rachel is Latino and “seven dwarfs” has been removed from the title.

Let’s see how the movie goes down when it is released later this month.

Alan’s thinning on top

ALAN CARR has admitted to taking hair loss pills to try and turn back the sands of time.

Speaking to hair stylist Andreas Wild on his new podcast, Salon Confidential, out today, Alan said: “Growing up, I was fat, goofy, gay with glasses.

“It was so funny because I had all these things – then when I started losing my hair, out of everything, that was the thing I was like, ‘Oh my God.’

“It’s always been thinning. I’ve got the bald spot. I do take the pills and stuff to keep it going – I haven’t had an erection for 20 years – and it’s still going.”

During the interview, Alan also opened up about the stars he gets mistaken for the most.

Recalling when someone stopped him because they recognised him off TV, Alan said: “I introduced him to my brother Gary. He said: ‘That’s not your brother – he’s not Chinese. You’re Gok Wan.’ I said: ‘I’m not Gok Wan.’ He said: ‘Why are you lying?’”

If I was Alan, I’d be asking if the bloke had lost his guide dog.

TWO years ago, Mae Muller dropped her catchy hit I Wrote A Song. But while her Eurovision entry didn’t quite go as well as she may have hoped she’s bouncing back with new music.

Mae’s been enjoying the Rio de Janeiro carnival and shared this snap of herself having a shower on the beach and teased: “In Brazil, new music confirmed, life is good.”

Bring back some of the sunshine for us, Mae.

JASON MOMOA is adding another string to his bow and has bought in on new celebrity hotspot The Rex Rooms in London.

The actor was seen partying at the launch night with his pals – and helpfully stocked the bar with his own brand of booze, Meili vodka.

Before heading to The Rex Rooms, which last month hosted a big bash for Machine Gunn Kelly, Jason was spotted at his pal Tamer Hassan’s Hotel Karma Sanctum Soho in the capital.

My insiders told me Tamer and Jason were overheard talking about plans to make a new film together, adding: “They were speaking about a new script and what they could do together. It seems they are pretty tight.”

Tamer is flying high at the moment. The TV spin-off of cult movie Snatch – he starred in both – was snapped up by Netflix and is now in the streaming platform’s Top Ten most watched shows in the UK.

I’m not surprised he’s feeling inspired.

Ri: Giving brith was a riot

BECOMING a parent is life changing, but I loved how Rihanna summed up her journey into parenthood, when she opened up about the births of her sons RZA and Riot.

Sharing two Instagram snaps of herself, first with RZA and then Riot, Rihanna said: “By far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman … my little miracles.”

She then added of the second snap, which showed her looking impossibly cool given her legs had probably been in stirrups: “Yes I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening.”

SHE has a big summer of festival gigs ahead of her so I can’t blame Jess Glynne for letting loose while she’s got some time on her hands.

Wearing a mesh-covered crop top and cargo trousers, The Real Love singer was spotted enjoying herself with stars including former Love Island winner Amber Gill at the Red Bull Culture Clash on Saturday.

The music battle at The Drumsheds in London featured four groups, each from a different genre, with the audience deciding the winner.

A pal of mine was at the show and said the talent their was some of the best they have seen in a long time.

I’ve no doubt it will have given Jess some inspiration.

Three products to help with gut health including supplements backed by David Beckham

GUT health is big news, with research linking digestive wellness with overall health.

A balanced diet of fibre, fruit and veg – plus products such as kimchi, kombucha and kefir – is key.

But three experts have brought out products that may also help.

Here I put them to the test . . .

Probiotic capsules

DR MEGAN ROSSI is known as the Gut Health Doctor and for a few years has been secretly working on a new range of probiotics called SMART STRAINS ®.

Many probiotics sold contain a mix of probiotics, which can be a bit like taking a multivit when you need something specific.

But SMART STRAINS has four that each specifically target a problem: fussy babies, vaginal microbiome, one for when you’re on antibiotics and one for your immune system.

I love that this is for all the family, as kids from four upwards can also have it.

  • From £16.99 for a month’s supply. Available via smartstrains.com and Tesco Pharmacies nationwide.

Kombucha sachets

KOMBUCHA is a fermented drink made from tea, sugar, bacteria, and yeast that is rich in probiotics.

Biohacker Davinia Taylor’s company WillPowders has just brought out the Kombucha Collection which comes in three flavours: Fresh, Light and an aromatic and spicy one called Warm.

But these aren’t drinks, they are powders which come in small sachets.

Microbiome scientist and dietitian Emily Leeming reveals her top 3 gut health tips

They’ve used cutting edge tech to keep the probiotics alive and thriving while cutting out the sugar.

The 5g sachets are mixed with water.

I love the crisp Fresh one – a great alternative to a white wine and just 11 calories.

  • RRP £27 for 15 sachets or £1.80 a go. willpowders.com.

FOR years David Beckham has focused on his health and now he’s brought out a wellness brand IM8 with a drink called Daily Ultimate Essentials: All-in-One Supplement that contains 92 ingredients and replaces the need for 16 daily supplements.

In one drink there are vitamins and minerals – with large doses of vitamin C and B12 – plus dried superfoods including blueberry, turmeric and milk thistle.

It also includes amino acids and electrolytes, a mushroom complex for cognitive health, cell rejuvenation technology, heart health support and gut health goodies: prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics.

The flavour is acai and mixed berries.

  • From £2.63 per serving. im8health.com

Labour MUST make work pay – the cost of failure is unthinkable

Benefits rebuild a huge job for Govt

FOR too long now Britain’s benefits bill has been unaffordable.

The annual cost of employment and disability benefits stands at a whopping £65billion.

But even more damaging than the vast price tag has been the human cost.

More than nine million people of working age are unemployed and not seeking a job.

Under current rules, they often have little or no incentive to return to the workforce.

At a time of global uncertainty, the need to slash these costs is both morally right and economically vital.

Billions are needed to keep our nation safe.

The overhaul proposed by Labour is welcome.

For the first time, the benefits system will recognise that those who have worked deserve much greater support than other people who have lived their lives on hand-outs.

Both major parties have talked tough on benefits.

And the devil will, of course, be in the detail.

But Labour must make work pay.

The cost of failure is unthinkable.

Support Fund Boost: Up to £500 Grants for Struggling Households

Corridor care crisis

THE horrendous ordeal of Sarah Dodd should shame the NHS.

It is truly shocking that the mum of three endured eight days being treated in a hospital corridor.

This is the reality of healthcare in 21st Century Britain.

The former solicitor was treated on a makeshift bed at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for more than a week after being admitted in excruciating pain.

Labour came to power promising to fix the NHS crisis.

It has staked its future on transforming our care.

Sarah’s experience shows the daunting scale of the task ahead.

Mask no questions

WHAT is the point of the monstrous Covid inquiry?

This moribund, lawyer-crammed probe is an obscene waste of £200million.

Ex-PM Boris Johnson vowed it would put the handling of the pandemic “under the microscope”.

So why is it failing to examine in more detail the provision of faulty PPE gear?

As we reveal, the inquiry will not be calling Richard and Sarah Stoute, whose firm Full Support Healthcare trousered £1.8billion of public money.

Yet £1.4billion of their PPE ended up in the bin.

If the inquiry can’t be bothered to ask them about that then it should be shut down. Pronto.
