Chris Hemsworth reveals the stupidest thing he’s ever done in front of thousands of people

As part of a new challenge to push himself, the Marvel actor decided to learn to play the drums – but when he played in a stadium with pop star Ed Sheeran, he was terrified…

Terrified, sweating and short of breath, Thor actor Chris Hemsworth said playing drums for Ed Sheeran in front of 70,000 people was “the stupidest thing I could have done”. The Australian star, best known for playing a hammer-wielding Norse God, was wielding drum sticks instead as he took to the stage – and he was way out of his comfort zone. He says: “All the fans are going to be watching me destroy an Ed Sheeran classic.”

The scary challenge was part of a bold new mission for Chris, and this time, not in the Marvel world, in the real world. In a thrilling three-part series Limitless: Live Better Now, streaming today (Aug 15) on Disney+, Chris pushes himself further than ever – physically, mentally and emotionally – as he confronts some of life’s most universal challenges: pain, fear and cognitive decline. Determined to discover how we can all live better, Chris dives into three high-stakes challenges that promise real, immediate ways to sharpen our minds and strengthen our bodies.

In the first series, the 42-year-old discovered while filming that he is, biologically, eight to ten times more likely than the average person to develop Alzheimer’s disease because he carries two copies of a certain gene. “That warning sign was further motivation to take care of myself,” he says.

In this second series, filmed across six countries over two years, he climbs a 600-foot Alpine dam, learn the drums to perform live with Ed Sheeran, and endure South Korean Special Forces training. He adds: “I’ve always worked very hard on my physical fitness but I’m realising that I need to put as much work in for my brain as I do for my body. I’m diving head first into cutting edge science to uncover three secrets to living better.”

We see Chris struggling as he first starts to learn the drums, with Ed Sheeran telling him: “I think this might actually be the most difficult thing you do.” Just two months later we see Chris preparing to go on stage in the massive arena in Bucharest, Romania. Chris says: “Of all the stupid things I could have done, this feels like the stupidest. The moment I walk out and see how big that arena is, I’m starting to think ‘I’ve got to get out of here’.”

He adds: “Nervous energy, heart rate, sweaty palms, short of breath, all of that. The reality is kicking in and I’m feeling really terrified. All the fans are going to be watching me destroy an Ed Sheeran classic. It’s one take, one shot. I basically have no musical talent so how did I end up playing drums for one of the biggest pop stars in the world in front of 70,000 people?”

Chris Hemsworth puts himself through cognitive tests in his new series Limitless: Live Better Now

He adds: “This is the first challenge in a journey that will take me all over the world – discovering three powerful secrets to living better right now. Can we supercharge our brains by learning something new? Can we beat pain by reframing? And what benefits are there if we face the things that scare us most? It’s a life-changing mission that will push my mind and my body to the limits.”

Starting in London, where he has some cognitive tests, Chris says: “There are some days when I think my memory is pretty good but there are other days when I think ‘Something’s not firing properly’. I put it down to being overwhelmed by certain things and having too many things on my plate.” He is told that one of the best ways to boost his brain is to learn a new skill, especially a musical instrument, which activates visual, auditory and motor skills all at once.

Of course he decides to play the drums – he’s Thor. And of course he’s mates with Ed Sheeran. There’s a lot of stress but his surprise performance, to the hit Thinking Out Loud, is met with rapturous applause in the stadium. Chris says: “I haven’t ever had 70,000 people staring at me like this. Ed told me to take my headphones out and listen (to the applause). I’ll never forget that moment.”

Holiday expert reveals exact time to book your tickets for August bank holiday flights & how you can save hundreds

HOLIDAY experts have revealed the exact time and date Brits should book their tickets ahead of the August bank holiday to save hundreds of pounds.

It’s not too late to book last-minute flight tickets for holiday trips over the August bank holiday weekend.

Brits can still find ways to get out of the country that won’t blow the budget for the weekend of August 25.

This includes trips to classic European escapes and hotspots like Disneyland Paris.

Ticket experts have analysed pricing data and industry travel trends.

CEO of AttractionTickets, Oliver Brendon, explained: “It’s easy to assume the early bird always gets the deal.

“In reality, travel companies adjust fares repeatedly based on demand, and we see opportunities appear even in the final days before departure.

“There’s still time to save on last-minute August bank holiday travel if you know when to book.”

Brendon reveals the trick to finding value no matter how late the purchase is made.

Through review of historic pricing, as well as industry reports, Sundays have been found to regularly deliver the lowest average booking prices.

This is because airlines adjust seat availability and prices over the weekend.

Therefore, holidaymakers who plan to book on Sundays can more often find a better deal and pay significantly less than those who book on other days.

3 tips to help you get the cheapest flights when booking holidays

Furthermore, Fridays have been found to be time to avoid as it is the time when prices tend to spike due to increasing demand.

A clear morning advantage has also been found through analyses.

Around 6am is when the fresh fares tend to show up, so it is good to get in early before search traffic ramps up into the day.

So those looking to book a getaway from the bank holiday this month should set their alarms for Sunday morning.

Oliver adds 6am on Sunday, August 17 “both sit within the sweet spot before the long weekend and will give you a chance at potentially unlocking better pricing.”

This timing tip comes from expert insights and data-driven research from travel and ticketing platforms.

It also focused on last-minute booking trends by travellers in the UK.

The advise follows suggestions from CEO of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary, who said flights could also be booked cheaper in the first two months of the year.

Winter months are believed to be the best time of the year to find cheap air fares, as well as just before the peak of school holidays.

Another study looked in to the best time to book flights for certain destinations.

For Faro in Portugal, the cheapest flights for the summer holidays were found to be just five weeks before travelling.

And for long-haul flights like to New York, the best time was found to be June to book for an August vacation.

Other tips for saving money on flights

Here are some of the best ways you can save money on flights

Mistake Fares

A mistake fare is essentially an error that occurs when airlines or travel agents accidentally list the wrong price for a flight.

It might happen when airline staff accidentally leave out a zero — or two — while listing the cost of a ticket online.

While the odds of airlines making these mistakes are fairly low, such incidents do occur from time to time — and travellers can save hundreds of pounds by just keeping an eye out.

However, they will have to be quick as airlines will remove these prices as soon as they spot the mistake.

Being flexible

Being fussy about where you go on holiday can reduce your options for saving money.

Going on Google Flights and clicking on the map instead of searching for a specific destination will show you the cheapest rates to a number of cities.

That way you can make sure you head to the most affordable destination, or at least choose somewhere with cheap flights.

Avoid pricey luggage additions

Most airlines now charge extra for passengers to check luggage in during their flights and it’s much more affordable to fly with just carry-on.

So practice packing before you fly and make sure you can squash everything into a case or bag that will fit in the airline’s hand luggage rules — it could save you a fair amount.

On ‘New Heights,’ Taylor Swift reveals ‘Life of a Showgirl’ release date

Taylor Swift will enter her latest era in a matter of months.

The ubiquitous “Shake It Off” pop star announced her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” would drop Oct. 3 as she made her podcasting debut Wednesday on “New Heights,” co-hosted by her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce and his retired football pro brother, Jason Kelce. The Grammy winner also unveiled the album’s tracklist, which touts a finale featuring Sabrina Carpenter.

“It was something I was working on while I was in Europe on the Eras tour,” she explained to the Kelce brothers. “I was physically exhausted at this point on the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.”

Swift revealed her 12th album was imminent earlier this week in a teaser promoting the latest “New Heights” episode. In the clip, she pulls a blurred-out record out of a briefcase decorated simply with her initials.

“The Life of a Showgirl” will be her second record in two years — following last year’s “The Tortured Poets Department” — and her first release since reacquiring the rights to her early recordings in May.

That was a move that “changed my life,” she said Wednesday.

Monica Seles: Nine-time Grand Slam champion reveals myasthenia gravis diagnosis

Nine-time Grand Slam champion Monica Seles has revealed she was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis – a neuromuscular autoimmune disease – three years ago.

The 51-year-old has chosen to go public with the rare long-term condition, which causes muscle weakness, to raise awareness before this month’s US Open.

Seles first noticed symptoms of the condition, which can affect most parts of the body – including the muscles that control the eyes, around five years ago.

“I would be playing [tennis] with some kids or family members, and I would miss a ball,” former world number one Seles told The Associated Press.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, I see two balls.’ These are obviously symptoms that you can’t ignore.

“It took me quite some time to really absorb it, speak openly about it, because it’s a difficult one. It affects my day-to-day life quite a lot.”

Seles decided to reveal her condition in the hope of using her platform to educate people about the disease, for which there is currently no cure.

The American won eight major titles by the age of 19, after capturing her first aged 16 at the 1990 French Open.

But she won just one more after she was stabbed with a knife by a fan during a match in Hamburg in 1993 and took time away from the sport to recover.

Seles played her last match in 2003 having won 53 tournaments and spent 178 weeks at number one.

Emmerdale double exit sealed in Aaron storyline as star reveals all on emotional scenes

Could a double exit be on the cards as John Sugden continues to struggle with what he has done to Nate and others, and Aaron starts to feel regret over his liaison with ex Robert?

Robert and Aaron finally give in to their feelings

Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has teased a double exit in a new storyline. Robert Sugden made his return to the village a few weeks back and it has been quite the dramatic few weeks involving his love Aaron Dingle.

Viewers know John Sugden – Aaron’s new husband – is a serial killer and only wants bad things for the village and its residents. Robert is onto him – but no one believes him, with everyone convinced John is such a nice guy.

Next week, Aaron and Robert give into temptation – and it’s clear Aaron still has feelings for his ex. But will he manage to convince Aaron to change his mind and stay in the village – or leave with John? It comes after a Coronation Street and Mrs Brown’s Boys actor dies after short illness.

Robert and Aaron share a moment of passion

Asked how Robert will react when he finds out that Aaron and John are leaving the village, he said: “He will be devastated, obviously. Robert came back to the village for Aaron, really. He’d be devastated – it was his reason to come back. He will be very worried about Aaron’s safety, but at the same time, I think at this point, maybe he’s starting to doubt whether or not he’s right about John.

“Maybe John’s gaslighting and manipulation’s got through to him. Because everyone’s saying the same things to Robert, that he’s wrong about John and that he’s just jealous.”

It has been a tough return to the village for Robert – who has been shunned by pretty much everyone over his behaviour with John and his hope of breaking things off between the village hero and Aaron Dingle.

Robert and John don't see eye to eye

“Everyone’s moved on and Aaron’s moved on and there’s a happy equilibrium it seems that Aaron’s found in his relationship with John. And I guess that Paddy and people care about him. Chas, they’re all riled to see Robert’s back because they know that that will kind of disrupt that. He’s unanimously looked down on. Well, actually, except for people like Caleb,” he said.

“Caleb gives him a chance as does Moira, Moira gives him a chance, but yeah, it turns out that Robert of double crosses her and betrays Moira. Victoria’s kind of the only one that’s really there and caring for him and supporting him and trying to help him through.”

Whatever happens next, Ryan warned there would be some exciting scenes ahead. He shared: “I’m genuinely excited about the year that we’ve got ahead. I think the show’s in a great place at the moment.

“I think the next year, the kind of the story arc that I’ve been told, I’m really interested in and really excited about. And the Corrie Dale, the crossover, that’s going to be a great a great week for both shows.”

Bus driver reveals rules around toilet breaks and why they ‘cannot’ enter pub

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed the toilet but could not go?

We’ve all been at work when all of a sudden you need the toilet. And whilst you often don’t need to panic, the situation is different if you can’t go straight away.

When nature calls, and forces us to make a speedy retreat, most of us can easily break off, unless you’re mid-presentation. But it’s a whole other story for bus drivers – at least if they want to pop to one common place to head to the loo.

For drivers of London’s public transport services, loo breaks have to be taken seriously, because opportunities for relieving oneself are few and far between. In a Reddit forum, a London bus driver happily answered questions from the public about the dos and the don’ts of the job, and one question touched upon this very subject, reports MyLondon.

A reader asked them what we’ve all often thought: “How do you handle bathroom breaks?” The answer? Go to the toilet anywhere – but not in a pub.

The driver said: “We have toilets at either end of the route usually, but if you’re caught short, you can call the controller over the radio and they know of spots across the routes for you to hop out and use – usually a bookies or McDonald’s.

“Interestingly, drivers years ago could use a boozer. However, understandably, people were getting worried when their drivers were hoping out mid route and popping in the pub for 5 minutes, so now we’re forbidden to enter a pub in any uniform.”

The driver also shared pearls of wisdom when responding to other queries from the public. One person asked, “What do you do when a stinky rider gets on?”

The driver responded: “Open the windows and carry on.” Another person asked: “Has anyone ever defecated on your buses?”

“No, however it’s usually a daily occurrence for people to chuck up their kebabs on a night shift after a heavy one,” answered the driver.

And his biggest pet peeve? Motorists attempting to undertake buses before they pull into stops.

The bus driver explained: “Seriously, it’s so dangerous to undertake any vehicle but even more so a vehicle that’s 35-40 foot long and weighs 11 tonnes. My first accident was because some boy racer tried to undertake me and got crunched against the curb whilst I was pulling into a bus stop, we have mirrors but they don’t solve the huge blind spots.

“For cyclists, I’d rather they didn’t go round me at a bus stop because it’s an absolute mission to go round them, and you just end up leapfrogging each other. However, we must share the road so do what you want I suppose.”

Transport for London has been approached for comment.

Picking up on the hint, one fan said in the comments: “Is this confirmation Baby Spice is a pink one?!”

Rozz was married to hunky Thomas Kriaras during her time on the show but their union came to an emotional end.

Following the programme, Rozz moved on with Jordan and went public with their relationship in June of last year.

Looking stunning at her baby shower, Rozz showed off her baby bump in a gorgeous yellow gown.

Her co-stars held onto her baby bump in one snap before she was seen posing with Jordan who sweetly planted a kiss on her cheek as part of the celebrations.

Rozz went all out for the day with a balloon wall being the centre of attention for the party.

She also had an elaborate flower display as well as a cake that appeared to read “baby M-D” in icing on the top.

Touching clip Jack Osbourne reveals how dad Ozzy’s fan tributes are being saved with ‘flowers to be buried with him’

JACK Osbourne has revealed the touching way tributes left by Ozzy’s fans will be saved, with flowers to be buried at his final resting place.

The late rock legend’s son shared a heartwarming clip to Instagram and explained how hand-written letters, memorabilia, and merch are being “carefully preserved”.

They were left at the Black Sabbath Bridge after news of Ozzy’s death broke and during his funeral procession through Birmingham last week.

Jack told how every item will be recorded on a digital database and given to the Osbourne family.

A video showed all the tributes laid out in rows, being photographed and logged.

“Here’s how tributes for Ozzy Osbourne are being carefully preserved by Central BID,” read the caption.

“All items from the Black Sabbath Bridge and Navigation St Mural have now been moved to a secure location.

“Every piece is being laid out individually, catalogued and treated with care.

“Our team has been working to respectfully sort the items ensuring they’re preserved in the best possible condition.

“We will be working to create a digital record of every tribute over the next few weeks to be sent to Ozzy’s family.

“The flowers are being mulched and bagged, with the compost to be included at Ozzy’s final resting place.

“Thank you for all of your tributes.”

One emotional fan penned: “Such a beautiful way to respect us fans and allow the family to see how much your Dad was adored.”

Another wrote: “Imagine all the different stories in those letters and cards from people old and young, all over the world all being bought together by one person who had an impact on their lives in some way.”

“That is so awesome, Ozzy touched so many people all over the world. What a wonderful way to acknowledge his fans,” shared a third.

Someone else agreed: “This is amazing and show just how much you loved your dad and also respected his fans. You should all be proud of what you did for his legacy.”

“Wow and wow what an awesome tribute to your dad. God bless you Jack and your family,” added a fifth.

It comes after Jack paid an emotional tribute to his dad and told how his heart has “hurt too much” to speak out.

Ozzy’s youngest son shared a short video compilation of clips and photographs of himself and his father.

The 39-year-old was seen supporting his mum Sharon and his sisters Kelly, 40, and Aimee, 41, at their dad’s funeral.

He appeared on the American reality TV show The Osbournes as a child alongside his father, sisters and mother.

Jack said: “I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father.

“My heart has hurt too much. I’m gonna keep this short because he certainly hated long rambling speeches.

“He was so many things to so many people, but I was so lucky and blessed to be a part of a very small group that got to call him Dad.

“My heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude.

“I got 14,501 days with that man and I know that is such a blessing. I think this quote best describes my father.”

The tribute was followed by a quote from Hunter S. Thompson, known for writing Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

It reads: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!'”

Jack went on to say that the quote from the American author summed up his dad, adding “he lived his life fully.”

Meanwhile Sharon earlier revealed Ozzy’s poignant final words about his fans following his farewell Black Sabbath concert.

She told Pollstar: “It was the first time, I think, that anybody’s gone into retirement and done it, where the show is streamed and it goes to charity.

“So it’s the first time anybody has said goodnight like that, it’s the perfect way, when you’ve had such a long career, to end it – I never wanted Ozzy to just disappear without some big event.

“He [Ozzy] turned around and he said to me that night, he said, ‘I had no idea that so many people liked me’.”

Last Thursday, an “incredibly emotional” funeral service was held for the rocker, a family friend told The Sun.

The family home was decorated with pictures of Ozzy, and mourners were given a photograph of him to take home.

The singer’s nearest and dearest attended, joining his wife Sharon and his children Jack, KellyAimee, and Louis, his son from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.

His official death certificate lists ‘acute myocardial infarction’ and ‘out of hospital cardiac arrest’ under the cause of death section.

It also listed coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction as “joint causes” of Ozzy’s death.

The document described his occupation as a “rock legend, songwriter and performer” in a heart-warming nod towards Ozzy.

TV insider reveals secret trick used by game show bosses to stop stars winning huge prizes

A long-wondered game show secret has been revealed by a TV insider, ending much speculation.

Ever wondered how some game show contestants win the jackpot and others who deserve it more don’t? Well, this could be the reason why.

Portrait of Richard Osman, best-selling author and television personality.

The TV Insider

Gameshow host Richard Osman has finally answered the question about how some shows stop contestants from winning the top prize.

The Pointless and House of Games star revealed that certain questions are given to those taking part in the programme in a bid to keep cash prizes to a minimum.

On his podcast which hosts alongside Marina Hyde, The Rest is Entertainment, the pair often reveal the secret tricks used by the industry to ensure the success of certain shows and films.

Most day-time and evening gameshows have huge cash prizes, which can sometimes reach six or seven figures.

But most of the time, many contestants, despite showing great promise, only end up with a fraction of the maximum amount.

The secret trick

The 54-year-old said: “The questions wouldn’t be weighted particularly in that way,” he said. He went on to add: “But lots of formats have ways of ensuring there isn’t a payout.”

He added: “So, you’ll do a final round where you could win or you couldn’t win the jackpot.”

He later went on to explain that the cash prize at the end of each round depends on an algorithm for players.

Appearing on ITV gameshow

4

There’s a reason not every can win the prize pot

Richard said: “You always have an algorithm. Daytime budgets are very small, but in your budget will be a line item for prize money.

“So, when we used to make Deal or No Deal, for example ― and it’s a good example, because it’s all about money ― you’ve got that £250,000 box all the way down to the 1p box.”

Simon Cowell’s million-dollar failure

He also explained that there have been many game show failures.

Simon Cowell once launched a game show in the USA

Wanna Bet? was hosted by tele rating’s safe pair of hands, Ant and Dec, and was based on the idea of the gambling game Red or Black.

However, Osman revealed that in the first four episodes in a row, the contestants ended up bagging the total pot – a jaw-dropping $1 million.

The car crash of a show therefore, only lasted six episodes before it was cancelled, becoming one of Ant and Dec’s rare failures.

He then compared this to his former show Pointless, which offers £16,500 per day.

Pointless first aired in 2009Credit: BBC

It means that if one team walks out with the top prize fund, others will suffer in the following games.

Having hosted hundreds of episodes of Pointless since it aired in 2009, Osman knows a thing or two having tv formats.

Osman was also the brains behind some of our favourite entertainment shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats, Have You Been Watching, Only Connect, Total Wipeout, Prize Island, and 10 O’Clock Live.

Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi reveals one ‘grubby’ city she’ll ‘never return to’

For years Alex Polizzi has been helping to turn around the fortunes of struggling hotels, but she has recently revealed how there is one place that she will never return to

The Hotel Inspector star Alex Polizzi has revealed she will never return to Hong Kong after finding the city “overcrowded, dirty and polluted”.

Since 2008, Alex has appeared on the Channel 5 show where she tried to revive the fortunes of some of Britain’s ailing hotels to prevent them from closing down.

During an interview with the Times she revealed that one negative experience during a trip abroad means she will never return to the destination.

Recalling her trip to Asia in the 1990s, she said: “One place I’d never go back to is Hong Kong, where I trained at the Mandarin Oriental for three years in my twenties. I found the region overcrowded, dirty and polluted.”

Despite her damning take, Alex conceded that the destination would have been better suited to the more wealthy, adding: “It’s a fun place to visit if you’re really rich, but not if you’re not.”

With a population of 7.5 million fitting into just 430 square miles, Hong Kong is the fourth most densely populated region in the world, trailing just Macau, Monaco and Singapore.

After originally starting a wholesale bakery business with her then boyfriend in the late 90s, she made the decision to pursue a career in hotel management.

Emmerdale spoiler reveals villain Ray’s real target – and it’s not Dylan

Emmerdale spoilers have appeared to confirm who new villain Ray will target in the village, as next week on the ITV soap it’s someone other than Dylan he has a job for

There was a worrying Emmerdale hint on Tuesday night about who Ray may be after next

There was a worrying Emmerdale hint on Tuesday night about who Ray may be after next, after initially targeting teen Dylan Penders.

Now a new spoiler for the ITV soap may have confirmed the twist and who Ray will really be targeting over the next few weeks. On Tuesday we saw Dylan trying to get out of working for the dealer who had been giving him money, pretending to be his friend.

Bond or not, Ray has Dylan exactly where he wants him and is getting him to do his dodgy dealings. We’ve seen Dylan hiding drugs and sneaking off for drop-offs and whatever else Ray has for him. It comes after fans learned Ray had targeted Moira Dingle off the back of his deal with Robert Sugden.

Emmerdale spoilers have appeared to confirm who new villain Ray will target in the village, amid him being in cahoots with Dylan

So far on the show, Dylan’s return led to the news he was in cahoots with Ray. Ray had sent him and someone else to scope out Moira’s farm to check if Robert was lying about there being no more weed in the barns.

Dylan was injured and is now recovering at the home of Mandy and Paddy, who have taken him in. They of course no idea about his secret visits with Ray, who is giving him money and lining him up with dodgy jobs.

Dylan clearly wants out though and on Tuesday, fans saw the character rumbled over his link to the break-in at Moira’s. He was confronted but it was agreed that the police, and Moira, would not be told.

As for Ray, Dylan told him about Paddy and Mandy as well as his blossoming relationship with April Windsor. Claiming he didn’t want to take advantage, he also wanted to spend some time in the village.

So he told Ray he didn’t want to do the latest job on offer. Ray seemed fine with it as Dylan told him he wouldn’t be able to help this time, with Ray agreeing to ask someone else.

But when Dylan was away from him, it was clear Ray was spying on him and April. His true intentions became clear when Ray was shown on the phone, telling someone that “sweet and innocent” April would be “of use” to them.

So Ray is now targeting April to get her involved in his criminal world – but will she be lured in? Spoilers for next week confirm Dylan reveals April has been offered a job by Ray.

It seems that there is an agreement that if April does the job, Ray will leave Dylan alone. At least that’s what the teens believe, and soon April is tasked with a drug drop by a manipulative Ray. But will she go through with it, and will Ray leave them both alone?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .

Harry Cooksley is set to reveal a major ‘regret’ he has about his romance with Shakira Khan during the Love Island final. The footballer, 30, has made it to the end of the ITV2 dating programme with Shakira, 22, and is set to have an open and honest chat with her before they could be potentially be crowned winners of the latest series.

Shakira starts things off by saying: “Doing this experience without you and watching things unfold was so hard because I felt so strongly towards you. You’re everything I could possibly want in a partner. It’s been an amazing last week and I’m excited for the future.”

Prior to coupling up with Shakira, Harry had a long-standing romance with Helena Ford and then his ex-girlfriend Emma Munro made a shock entrance to the villa before leaving in the weeks leading up to the final. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025 .

The finalists all dress up in their best outfits for one last dinner together as part of the last episode of the series (Image: ITV/Shutterstock)

Shakira was initially coupled up with Harry in the early weeks of the competition, but they got together again just days ahead of the final and he told her: “I came in here and thought it would be a lot of fun. Finding you in a Villa in Mallorca was not on my bingo card this summer. I do regret taking too long to tell you how I felt. We both know this is more than surface level – I think it always has been for me.”

During the build-up to the winning reveal, Shakira receives a text that reads: ” Islanders. Tonight you will have a very special finalists’ dinner. #FinalFeels #OneLastEvening,” and she, along with Harry, and the remaining couples Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes, Ty Isherwood and Angel Swift, as well as Cach Mercer and Toni Laites will all be seen in the garden wearing their finest for their last night in the villa.

Toni says to Cach: “I don’t think I tell you enough but the way you treat me has made this whole wacky-ass experience worth it. I think everyone has seen how happy you make me. I’m really thankful to be here with you. In response, Cach says to Toni: I feel like our journey has been a rollercoaster, I’m grateful for every moment. You make me feel very comfortable in here. And I don’t think I could’ve done it with anyone else to be honest with you.

Angel then decides to tell Ty that she is ‘everything’ she looks for in a man, and adds: “You’re thoughtful, you make me laugh, and I also fancy the pants off you. I couldn’t be happier.”

In response, Ty tells her: “I want to thank you and the Love Island gods for sending you in. I feel like it was at a time when I didn’t know where I was. You came at the perfect time. You’re everything that I look for in a girl. I feel like I am really falling for you.”

Meanwhile, Yas reflects on her journey with Jamie and declares to him: “You just get me completely. I don’t tell you enough but I’m so genuinely appreciative of you and everything you’ve done for me in here. You’ve made me so happy,” and Jamie responds with: “Obviously when I came into the Villa, I sat down and had a conversation with you – instantly the energy was matched and I knew from that moment you were the girl that I wanted to be spending my time with in here.”

Shakira and Harry are currently the bookies’ favourites to win the whole series and walk away with the cash prize of £50,000, with odds of 10/11 whilst Toni and Cach have odds of 7/4, Yasmin and Jamie’s odds stand at 4/1 and Angel and Ty are at 20/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “The odds have spoken and it looks as though Shakira and Harry have peaked at just the right time… punters reckon they’ll finish in first place ahead of Toni and Cach, with Yasmin and Jamie rounding out the podium places tonight.” However, Harry’s time in the villa has not been without its controversy.

The part-time player had caught the eye of both Shakira and Helena among others during his time in the villa. So Harry’s club, who play in the Southern Premier League, asked his pals back in the UK which woman he is better suited to. Even manager Paul Johnson waded in on the TikTok video, musing: “Bin off Shakira, 100 per cent. She’s a drip, nosy b***h.”

And the comments kept coming as a squad member went on: “Get rid of Shakira, she is as annoying as f**k,” as another helpfully mused: “I don’t care, just get him back here and get him running.” When it came time for contestants to meet the families of their co-stars, one fan savagely predicted he would be going ‘straight to hell’ for the way he had behaved.

They wrote on X: “finally caught up to love island UK…Harry, you’re going straight to hell’ as the famous section of the show geared up to return. One viewer felt so passionate about not wanting Harry and Shakira to be together that they admitted they ‘not watch the rest’ of the series if that is the way things go.

Love Island 2025 airs every night at 9PM on ITV2 and ITVX.

Katie welcomed three of the bald cats into her home back in October – despite being blasted by animal charities for doing so.

On her Snapchat page on Friday, the mum of five told how Doris had given birth, and has now revealed she’s swerved a holiday to the Isle of Wight to look after the new litter.

Yet instead of kicking back and relaxing, she is keeping her house cosy with electric blankets and regular feeding patterns for the new arivals.

In a video which showed her in a cream jumper and her dark hair in a straight style, she added the caption “sad news” and four emotional Emoji icons.

In the clip, Katie told her followers there had been a death and said: “An update on the kittens, one unfortunately died.

“That’s the one wrapped in tissue, two hours after we fed it.

“Luckily I’m trying to help the kittens latch on to the mum, two are just about doing it but I’m having to put them on it, because they are so premature.

“As you can see how knackered I am, every two and a half hours through the day and through the night I’m feeding them for the mum.

“She’s a good mum, and then she keeps bringing one to the bed with her, she did that earlier, I think that was a sign to come and look in the box as one had died.”

Katie Price admits her family are panicked over star’s weight loss as mum fears eating disorder and dad calls her ‘thin’ legs ‘terrible’

Katie added: “But that’s good because she trusts us and loves us so thats good.

“So I’ve got two latching on to her now, so thats the update.”

She then panned the camera to new parent Doris, sitting on her bed, as she cooed: “Hey Doris good girl.”

CHARITY BACKLASH

Katie’s troubled pet history

November 2017

One of Katie’s horses was killed on the A24 after it broke lose from its field. She announced the death on social media and said she was devastated.

February 2018

Katie’s dog Queenie was hit by a car near her home, with the former model blaming a delivery driver for leaving the gate open.

November 2018

Katie claimed the family’s pet chameleon, called Marvin, died from a broken heart after her children Junior and Princess moved in with her ex husband Peter Andre.

February 2020

Her Alsatian Sparkle lost her life after getting lose and being hit by a car. Katie posted the news on social media but was hammered by fans who called for her to be more careful.

July 2020

Fans rounded on Katie after her daughter Princess’s puppy Rolo suffocated. JRC Bullies who gifted the dog to Katie were furious and said: “We are heartbroken that this has happened as we told Katie not to leave a small puppy on its own. “We can’t believe that the puppy was left unattended as we had left strict instructions.”

November 2022

Katie came under fire after she revealed her pomeranian Sharon had been hit by a car and killed outside her Horsham home.

June 2023

Katie was slammed by PETA after her seventh pet was killed. She revealed her dog blade had been run over on the same stretch as road as her last dog Sharon.

October 2023

Katie had four Chihuahuas but in October she sold two of them for £2k each.

She showed her affections for the trio, even pushing them around in a pram.

Yet, at the time, she could not escape backlash from charity PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

They called for the need for an injunction to be put in place, stopping Katie from owning pets completely.

They had previously offered Katie £5,000 to stop buying pets, which she had not responded to.

PETA UK founder Ingrid Newkirk told The Sun: “If there was a way to file an injunction to stop this serial animal killer, PETA would do so, as this woman doesn’t care about the lives she wastes or listen to vital advice and is still treating live animals like stuffed toys: as disposable.

“If William Hill took totally tasteless bets, the odds would favour those betting on how little time this kitten has on Earth, given the hideous track record of animal deaths in Price’s custody. No one could call it ‘care’.”

The new additions to the family came just a few months after she revealed she had to put down her last “designer” cat, Frog, after being diagnosed with a neurological disease.

She had bought Frog in February for £1,200, naming him in a sweet tribute to her son, Harvey, who loves frogs, but came under fire months later when she shared a video of the pet wrestling with a dog.

Katie had eight pets die in just six years – including four dogs and a horse all getting hit by cars.

She has also given away pets, including an out-of-control Alsatian called Bear for attacking other animals.

At the beginning of 2024, Katie gave away a puppy called Tank because he ‘no longer looked cute on Instagram’.

She also currently has a pet pug, named Captain, and avidly looks after horses.

Celebrity SAS star Rebecca Loos breaks down as she reveals damage from Beckham affair

Rebecca Loos candidly wiped away tears as she opened up on her infamous alleged affair with David Beckham as she made her debut on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins

Rebecca Loos candidly wiped away tears as she discussed her alleged affair with David Beckham on the first episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. The model, 48, infamously claimed that she and football legend David, 50, had an affair in the early 2000s.

It was one of the biggest showbiz scandals of the time, and came about just a few years after he tied the knot with Victoria Beckham. And on Sunday night, viewers watched as the then-PA of the former Manchester United star broke down in tears as she addressed the whole thing during a tense interrogation scene.

Asked if she would do things differently, she said: “If I went back in time, yes, of course.” She added: “I was unhappy with the way I had been treated so I didn’t want to go around anymore carrying this secret, rumours started spreading.” It comes after Cruz Beckham ‘steals’ his dad’s tiny white trunks and family have epic response.

She added: “I decided it would be better if it came from me, so I gave an interview thinking it would be something and it ended up being something else and I spent a few years seeing if I could get it back. I really put it really far behind me.”

Asked what she hoped to get out of the programme, Rebecca added : “I want to grow from this course as a person, I want to see how far I can push myself.” And then Rebecca seemed to have adopted a confident front, as she declared in a confessional: “I think I’ve definitely taken most of the blame for what happened, and rightly so. It was part of my life but we were two and he was all over me and he was my boss.”

But when mingling with her fellow recruits, she was seen breaking down in tears. It was then that former footballer Adebayo “The Beast” Akinfenwa rushed to put her arms around her as he spotted her wiping away tears. “You good?” he asked her and the two shared a hug.

Back in her confessional, she added: “You can’t change the things that have happened is my attitude. I just roll my sleeves up and get on with it because everything that I have experienced has brought me to where I am today and it has made me a little bit stronger.”

Rebecca, who has sons Magnus and Liam with her husband Sven Christjar Skaiaa, decided to sign up for the programme following a long break from the spotlight, as she explained: “I said yes to this because I felt that it was a really good time in my life to do this.

“I’d had a break from reality TV for a few years, become a mother, moved to Norway, changed quite a bit, and when I was younger I loved doing extreme things. I was finalist in Spanish Survivor where I was surviving on an island for three months in Honduras, and I’ve done quite a few extreme things, and adventurous shows. So I just felt like it would be really interesting to do.”

The drama began in 2003 after Beckham had just completed a high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, a career-defining transfer that promised fresh footballing glory in Spain. With the move came a new entourage, including 26-year-old Rebecca Loos, who was hired as a personal assistant to help the Beckhams settle into Spanish life.

In September that year, Beckham and Loos were photographed leaving a Madrid nightclub together. Whispers of an affair quickly began circulating, although both parties remained silent.

But everything changed in April 2004 when Loos sold her story in an exclusive interview with News of the World. She claimed that the pair had been romantically involved for four months.

Explaining why she chose to embark on the alleged fling, she said: “We just connected. People noticed it.” Explaining that the idea of group drinks back at the hotel were floated after a night out, she claimed David told her: “Why don’t we just lose the rest and why don’t we just go back together?”

“I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, ‘**** off’ in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong.

Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job, she shared her reason for agreeing. “I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong and people were not happy because I was being very unprofessional and he’s a married man.

“Then it dawned on me what he had asked me and I decided I did want to go back with him so we gave each other a look and paid the bill and left.

“I couldn’t wait to be alone with him and I knew he felt the same. We dropped off the other two people in the car and starting kissing quite passionately all the way back to the hotel… It was like magnets, pretty amazing.”

Love Island legend Laura Anderson reveals couple she wants to win series and says it would be ‘a lovely little story’

LOVE Island star Laura Anderson has backed Toni Laites and Cach Mercer to win when the series reaches its climax tomorrow night.

The Scottish beauty, who was runner-up in the 2018 series, believes former Las Vegas cabana server Toni and dancer Cach deserve to scoop the £50,000 prize.

Toni brought Cach back from the other villa, Casa Amor, but left him in tears after deciding to reconcile with lothario Harrison Solomon.

However, since Harrison left the show, Toni and Cach have become the bookies’ favourites after winning the hearts of viewers with their rocky romance.

Laura said: “I think if Toni and Cach won, the general public would be very happy.

“Toni is my favourite and watching Cach get upset and then seeing them get back together . . . it was a lovely little story.”

Speaking about the Meet The Parents episode, in which sees the contestants’ families visit the villa, Laura said: “It was incredible to see Toni’s mum say such lovely words to Cach.

“It was a really nice moment. I thought it was really sweet.”

And her thoughts on their rivals for the prize, such as Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes, and Shakira and Harry?

Laura says: “Yas has really surprised me and I just think she is great, she is just so authentic. Her and Jamie seem really happy and sweet.

“I love Harry and Shakira as a couple. I really hope Harry can prove himself and I think Shakira is really emotionally mature.”

Laura’s comments come as it was revealed Love Island has been hit with more than 9,000 complaints in just one week, mostly about alleged bullying behaviour towards Shakira.

The villa had been split into two girl groups, with Shakira, Toni and Yasmin on one side and Helena, Meg Moore and Megan Clarke on the other.

Laura said: “I think Toni and Shakira’s relationship has honestly been the real highlight of this series, which has been quite nice to see.

“ Normally it is the bromances that hit the headlines.

“There has been a divide between the girls and I think this ‘mean girl energy’ is unacceptable.”

Laura also believes that Love Island is a healthy way to encourage conversations around relationships.

She said: “I think holding young people accountable for their behaviour is a great thing and I hope that filters through into real life.

“My favourite thing, apart from just watching people fall in love, is watching them grow and develop.

“I honestly think Love Island made me a better person. You become more self-aware.

“There has been so much switching around of couples this series.

“ I don’t think there has ever been so many couples – and that causes a lot of different emotions.

“It has been an emotional rollercoaster.

“There has been a lot of drama, and it is entertaining for us at home.

“I think the after-care will be ramped up a little bit this year just because so much has happened.”

Trump reveals location of 2 nuclear submarines to Philippines’ president

President Trump praised the Philippines’ president for an “unbelievable job” in a fight against illegal drugs that has left thousands dead and drawn condemnation from American lawmakers, according to a leaked transcript of their telephone conversation last month.

Trump’s discussion with Rodrigo Duterte is likely to reinforce the impression that Trump is sidelining human rights concerns in his foreign policy. Trump has met with several authoritarian leaders since taking office in January, offering few critiques of their records on democracy, the rule of law and protecting essential freedoms.

The transcript of the April 29 call was first posted by the Washington Post. It is marked confidential and is contained under a cover sheet from the Philippine Foreign Ministry. Neither the Philippine government nor the White House verified the transcript, but they didn’t dispute its contents.

It also shows the leaders discussing the North Korean threat, with each referring to North Korea’s ruler, Kim Jong Un, as a “madman.” In an unusual disclosure of the movements of U.S. military assets, Trump revealed the U.S. had two nuclear submarines in the region. He said the United States didn’t want to use them.

Democratic lawmakers criticized Trump for his reported comments.

“Today’s reporting leaves me even more concerned by President Trump’s strange fascination with dictators, his support for the extrajudicial killings central to President Duterte’s ‘drug war,’ and his recklessness with sensitive information,” said Rep. Eliot L. Engel of New York, the top-ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Twelve Democratic senators, led by Edward J. Markey, wrote to Trump on Wednesday calling for him to denounce the “murderous” anti-drug campaign and delay any visit by Duterte to Washington until there are improvements in his human rights record.

The Philippines declined to comment on the transcript Wednesday. The Foreign Ministry noted that the unauthorized disclosure and use of illegally or inadvertently obtained government documents are not permitted under Philippine law. A White House official said he could not confirm or deny the accuracy of leaked documents, especially those purportedly from a foreign government.

At the time of the call, Trump raised hackles in Washington by inviting Duterte to the White House. Since Duterte took power in June, his anti-drug campaign has killed 7,000 to 9,000 suspected dealers and addicts, according to human rights groups. The State Department has voiced concern over extrajudicial killings, and U.S. lawmakers have pushed for restrictions on arms sales to Philippine police in response.

“I just want to congratulate you because I am hearing of the unbelievable job on the drug problem,” Trump said in the phone call, according to the transcript. “Many countries have the problem, we have a problem, but what a great job you are doing and I just wanted to call and tell you that.”

Duterte responded that drugs are a “scourge” of his nation. Trump then added, “I think we had a previous president who did not understand that.”

President Obama had criticized Duterte’s drug fight, prompting the Philippine leader to refer to Obama as a “son of a whore.” The insult derailed a planned meeting between them. Strains also grew as Duterte sought warmer ties with China and threatened to end the U.S.-Philippine military alliance.

In the call, Duterte described Southeast Asian nations feeling “nervous” over North Korean rockets and warheads. He offered to call Chinese President Xi Jinping to urge Beijing to use its leverage with Pyongyang. Trump, who hosted Xi at Trump’s Florida resort in April, described Xi as a “good guy.”

John Sifton, Asia advocacy director for Human Rights Watch, criticized the contents of the conversation.

“Trump’s celebration of Duterte’s record is nothing short of horrifying,” Sifton said. “It is an endorsement of the mass killing of the Philippines’ poorest and most vulnerable.”

Garden designer reveals £2.75 Tesco trick to turn plain gardens into lush rainforest paradise

DID you know there are rainforests in Britain? Nope – me neither.

But you may well have visited one without realising if you’ve holidayed in Cornwall, Wales or along the Atlantic Coastline.

Adding any kind of water feature into your garden will help create a rainforest themeCredit: free for devon wildlife trust use.

Especially if you remember walking through green woodland packed with ferns, moss and lichen – with a really memorable earthy, damp scent.

They once covered more than 20 per cent of the UK – but history devoured them – and now there’s less than one per cent.

So the Wildlife Trust, sponsored by Aviva, has just launched an epic 100-year restoration project to bring them back.

The temperate rainforest restoration programme will restore approximately 1,755 hectares of temperate rainforest across the British Isles.

Some of the new sites created through this programme include Bowden Pillars in Devon, Bryn Ifan in North Wales, Creg y Cowin and Glion Darragh on the Isle of Man, Trellwyn Fach in Pembrokeshire, and – most recently – Skiddaw in Cumbria.

Garden Designer Zoe Claymore, won a silver gilt medal at RHS Chelsea for her British Rainforest Garden.

She told me: “I didn’t know it at the time – but I played in a British rainforest as a child. The end of my grandparents garden in Devon went into Lidford Gorge which is one of the last existing rainforests.

“In the UK they’re found in the Goldilocks zone – not too hot, not too cold – and by rivers, gullies and gorges, because you also need the moisture from the river creating that ecosystem.”

But there are ways of recreating one in your own garden, she said.

“Even if  you don’t live in an area suited to creating a rainforest there’s other plants that will create the same vibes.

Mums are raving about an indoor tropical rainforest attraction in the UK

“Create shade with Hazels – they’re a great small tree which gives a real native-feel and perfect for small gardens. Or include hollies, birch or willows.

“Create a water feature – from a little stream with a few rocks or simply as an old-school rock water bowl – to  create that sense of humidity.

“But even if you just did a pond in a pot surrounded by some fun little logs, that will create habitat, that will bring wildlife, and it will create that kind of feeling of rainforest-y wetness.”

It’s easy to make a home made pond – using old washing up bowls. Tesco’s are currently selling one for just £2.75.

First choose a spot that’s sunny but not in direct sunlight all day – otherwise the water will evaporate.

Then all you have to do is put some logs around it, and a few stones, so wildlife can climb in and out easily – almost like a ramp.

Ideally fill it with rain water rather than tap.

And then put in about three water plants – like mini water lillies or water forget-me-not and sit back waiting for the wildlife.

Zoe added: “Then use British classic woodland plants and really focus on ferns – the unsung beautiful heroes of shade gardening – as well as bluebells, foxgloves, primulars, ivy, bananas and – if you’ve got a wet area – moss – which is the jewel in the crown – so your garden will be green all year round.”

For a ‘how to’ guide adapted to all UK gardens – as well as a rainforest-inspired pot combination  – head to www.zoeclaymore.com – and a share of the proceeds will go the Wildlife Trust.

NEWS! A dad’s 60-year-old lawnmower has taken its place in gardening history as the UK’s oldest Flymo – after he read a plea in Sun Gardening

Pete Goddard’s monumental mower was inducted into the British Lawnmower Museum in Southport, Merseyside, last week after Flymo sent out a request for old mowers.

The rare blue Flymo was unveiled last month – taking its place in the museum alongside King Charles, Brian May, and Nicholas Parsons’ former mowers.

It came after a nationwide search for the UK’s oldest Flymo to celebrate 60 years since the iconic hover mower was invented.

The 79-year-old retired Highway Maintenance Operative’s Flymo was originally bought in the 1960s by his father-in-law and lovingly maintained across three generations – and still works today.

Bay Area sports broadcasting legend Greg Papa reveals cancer diagnosis

Greg Papa, the legendary sports radio voice in the Bay Area, is stepping away from his broadcasting duties while undergoing treatment for cancer, he announced Friday.

Papa, the radio voice of the San Francisco 49ers and a longtime host on KNBR (680 AM), did not specify the type of cancer he is battling in a statement released by the radio station but said he expects a full recovery.

“As I fully focus on my treatment and work toward a full recovery, I’m stepping away from my broadcasts but look forward to returning soon,” Papa said. “Thanks to everyone for your prayers and good wishes as I begin this fight.”

Papa, 62, began his career doing radio play-by-play for the Indiana Pacers in 1984 but launched a decades-long career in the Bay Area when hired by the Golden State Warriors in 1986.

He transitioned to television in the ‘90s, calling games for the San Antonio Spurs. He also called baseball games on TV, beginning with the Oakland Athletics before jumping to the San Francisco Giants in the mid-2000s.

When play-by-play announcer Dave Flemming’s microphone went dead for 10 seconds after Barry Bonds hit his 715th career home run to pass Babe Ruth on the all-time list in 2006, Papa took over the broadcast and explained what had transpired.

“To lose a mic like that, I’ve never seen it,” Papa said. “I’ve never been a part of something like this.”

Flemming was distraught but took it in stride with Papa’s help.

“I think it’s the last gasp of the curse of the Bambino,” Flemming joked. “Now, I’m starting to rethink my whole world.”

Papa’s coworkers rallied to support him when the diagnosis was announced.

“Greg is not just our teammate at The Sports Leader, he’s one of the most iconic play-by-play men in the history of our beloved Bay Area,” said Brian Murphy, the popular longtime KNBR talk show host. “Nobody else has done the Warriors, Raiders, Giants, A’s and 49ers like Greg, so he has every Northern California fan base rooting hard for him to come out healthy and get back behind the mic.”

Papa, a three-time winner of the California sportscaster of the year award, has been the radio play-by-play announcer for the San Francisco 49ers since the 2019 season. His contract with the 49ers extends through the 2028 season.

“The 49ers family extends our unwavering love and support to Greg Papa and his family following his recent cancer diagnosis,” the 49ers said in a statement. “We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the radio booth as the ‘voice of the 49ers’ whenever he is ready.”

Fancy coffee shop swamped with protests after fed-up customer reveals she was charged for having croissant cut in half

A FANCY coffee shop in northern Italy has been swamped with protests after a fed-up customer revealed she was charged extra for having her croissant cut in half.

The woman, who has not been named in local media, visited Audrey Patisserie in Oderzo on Sunday for breakfast, ordering two coffees and a pastry.

But when she asked staff to slice the croissant so she could share it with her mother, she later discovered an extra €0.10 (around 9p) charge on the bill.

Fuming, she shared the receipt online, writing: “It’s not about the cost, it’s the principle.”

Her post spread like wildfire, sparking an avalanche of fury from social media users.

One user blasted: “You have to hate your customers to charge them €0.10 to cut a croissant in half.

“A total lack of elegance, refinement, and empathy.

“They should bring hotel management students to your restaurant to show them how not to treat your customers. Pathetic.”

Another piled on: “Disgusting cappuccino and they ask 10 cents to cut a croissant in half, never again, how squalid.”

A third raged: “€0.10 what a disgrace… just to cut a croissant!!!”

The backlash left café owner Massimiliano Viotto under siege, as his shop was bombarded with negative reviews.

He said: “We were flooded with one-star reviews from people who have never even visited our shop.

Customer Charged Surprise $5 ‘Bitching Fee’ at Pizzeria After Speaking Up

“Our Google rating dropped from 4.5 to 3.5, but we’re confident it will recover with time and dedication.”

Viotto denied the charge was a rip-off, even though it doesn’t appear on the menu, claiming it covers the use of an extra plate and napkin and the “skill” needed to cut a pastry.

Bafflingly, a photo from the café shows a staff member simply snipping through a croissant with a pair of scissors while steadying it with a fork.

He insisted: “It’s not a scam. It is a conscious choice that we defend with pride.”

The row adds to Italy’s growing reputation for bizarre summer surcharges.

Last year, a woman in Arezzo revealed she was slapped with a £50 fee to cut her own birthday cake in a restaurant.

And it’s not the only baffling bill making headlines.

A man has told how he was left scratching his head after a local restaurant added a mysterious “S Charge” to his tab.

The 2.75% extra fee — around 70 cents — appeared despite him paying in cash, meaning it couldn’t be a card surcharge.

Posting the receipt online, he wrote: “After eating at a local restaurant I noticed a charge on the receipt I did not recognize and have never seen before.

“I emailed the contact listed on their website a week ago but never received a response.

“Can someone tell me what is the S Charge (2.75%)? Can’t be a credit card up charge since I paid cash.”

The post sparked heated debate, with most guessing it was some form of service charge.

Much-loved UK theme park reveals new rainy day guarantee – with free return after bad weather

THE WORLD’S top place to take bored kids this summer, which is in the UK, has announced a new rainy day guarantee scheme.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort has introduced a free return for ticketholders who attend the attraction on a day that rains.

The new policy means that guests will always have a great visit to the attraction, because if the weather is poor they can return on a day where it is better.

The policy will be in place throughout August and it will need to rain for more than three hours on the day of their trip.

If this does happen, then guests can return for free within seven days of their original visit date.

CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, Amanda Thompson OBE said: “It’s important to us that guests have the best time when visiting, and while technically speaking the rain doesn’t affect our rides, we wouldn’t want the wet weather to dampen anyone’s day.

“We truly believe that you can have a great time at Pleasure Beach come rain or shine, but we know that everything is extra special when the weather is on side.”

If a guest wants to use a rainy day return, they should arrive at the same ticket centre on the day of their return visit and display their eTickets, paper tickets or confirmation email to staff.

The new option can also be used seven days of the week.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach resort was also recently named as one of the best attractions to bust kids being bored.

AttractionTickets.com created an index compiling the best attractions to take kids to this summer and the Lancashire-based attraction managed to beat the likes of Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.

Overall, it scored 31.3 out of a possible 35 marks.

The attraction is home to 10 rollercoasters, five ‘dark’ (indoor) rides, five water rides and 12 Nickelodeon-themed rides.

Throughout the year, Blackpool Pleasure Beach Resort also hosts a number of shows, including fireworks.

Earlier this year, the reimagining of Launch Pad was unveiled, which climbs up to 80 mph and sends riders 210 ft into the air.

AttractionTickets.com’s Banish Boredom Index was made by analysing reviews from over 160 destinations, and the UK dominated the top 20.

These included the likes of the Tower of London, Ribby Hall Village, and Warner Bros. Studio Tour London all made the list.

Some other attractions across the UK offer rainy day guarantees, such as Crealy Adventure Park in Devon.

The attraction offers visitors a free return within seven days of their original visit if there is 30 minutes or more of continuous rainfall during their visit.

It is worth checking the FAQs or T&Cs of your tickets to an attraction to see if the theme park, adventure park or other destination offers the same guarantee.

Use these tips on your next theme park trip

Next time you visit a theme park, you may want to use our top tips to make the most of your adrenaline-inducing day out.

  1. Go to the back of the theme park first. Rides at the front will have the longest queues as soon as it opens.
  2. Go on water rides in the middle of the day in the summer – this will cool you off when the sun is at its hottest.
  3. Download the park’s app to track which rides have the shortest queues.
  4. Visit on your birthday, as some parks give out “birthday badges” that can get you freebies.
  5. If it rains, contact the park. Depending on how much it rained, you may get a free ticket to return.

There is also a unique UK theme park with safaris, water park and rides for everyone from toddlers to grandparents.

Plus, Disney is set to open a brand new theme park and resort – here’s everything we know.
