Where is Coopers Chase in the Thursday Murder Club?

Production designer James Merifield chose somewhere he had filmed before to replicate the retirement village from the beloved book.

To bring Coopers Chase to life, he chose Englefield House in Berkshire – a Grade II listed house originally built in 1558.

The home has had substantial alterations since the 1820s, with Netflix explaining: “Its scale and architecture worked well as the ex-priory of the book.

“Within the house itself, many rooms and corridors were dressed to provide the residents with their elegant communal spaces, but there were also some substantial set builds including the Jigsaw Room where the gang congregates.”

As for the nearby cemetery, the set was inspired by a corner of the famous Highgate Cemetery in North London. It was constructed so convincingly that several cast members thought it was real.

While Englefield House is a private residence and is not open to the public, the gardens are open to visitors every Monday throughout the year.

Visitors do not need to book in advance, but there is an entrance fee of £5. RHS and NGS cardholders, as well as children are entitled to free entry.

From March to October group tours are offered from Tuesday to Thursday for a minimum of 20 people and must be booked in advance. The estate’s website has all the details on how to book.

Englefield House is available to hire for private and corporate events, and the estate grounds and deer park provide a stunning location for outdoor events.

The estate has hosted a number of concerts, country fayres and classic car auctions in the house.

Alex Cooper’s ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ earns boos

Alex Cooper appeared to thoroughly enjoy herself during her seventh-inning stretch performance Sunday at Wrigley Field.

Not everyone on hand for the Chicago Cubs’ game against the St. Louis Cardinals seemed to feel the same way about the “Call Her Daddy” podcast host’s throaty, off-key and completely tongue-in-cheek rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

The MLB tradition of singing the classic tune between the top and bottom of the seventh inning was popularized by the legendary late Chicago White Sox and Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray, whose vocals weren’t close to pristine but were unquestionably earnest.

Cooper was cheered as she was announced over the loudspeaker as the latest guest to lead the stadium in the tradition.

“All right, Daddy Gang and Cubs fans, are you ready? You’ve never seen something like this,” Cooper said with a laugh before launching into the song with the intro made famous by Caray: “Ah one! Ah two! Ah three!”

For many fans in attendance, the performance went downhill from there. Cooper belted out the song in an unnaturally low key and overly dramatic fashion, laughing often as she and two companions attempted to accompany the vocal performance with a few dance moves.

For what might have been intended as a big finish, the backup dancers attempted to hoist Cooper onto their shoulders.

Cooper was clearly having a blast. And to be clear, a number of folks at the stadium could be heard singing along as they would during any seventh-inning stretch. But as this clip from the performance shows, there were many others who expressed their displeasure with Cooper’s intentionally bizarre performance.

Cooper’s appearance at Wrigley was part of the “Big Al’s Takeover” promotion, with fans who purchased a special ticket package receiving a commemorative Cubs jersey with Cooper’s Unwell branding on the back.

“You don’t want to miss Alex lead the crowd in ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ during the seventh-inning stretch,” an article on the Cubs website had promised.

A number of fans seem to wish that they had.

Kaleb Cooper’s Clarkson’s Farm replacement revealed after he ‘leaves Jeremy in the lurch’

Jeremy Clarkson has recruited a new farmhand for the new series of Clarkson’s Farm as Kaleb Cooper is busy off on his own adventures

As the trailer for the new series of Clakrson’s Farm dropped yesterday, fans were made aware that Kaleb Cooper would be replaced, following his busy schedule on tour. Now, the identity of Clarkson’s new side kick has been revealed.

In the series four trailer, fans see Jeremy conduct an interview with a young blonde woman for the role – who admitted she hadn’t seen the show before. Despite the disgruntled look from Jeremy, he later has a change of heart when she gets to work. “She’s brilliant!” he exclaimed.

It seems like Kaleb’s replacement also sees the funny side of life, as she can be seen asking Jeremy if she can trim his eyebrows. Although fans weren’t formally introduced to the new addition, her identity has now been revealed as 24-year-old nurse and farmer, Harriet Cowan.

The budding star’s Instagram is full of pictures of her working on the farm – confirming her appearance in the Prime Video show with her latest post.

Posting the trailer to her feed, Harriet wrote: “Ekkkk, something exciting is coming on the 23rd May.”

A highly experienced farmer, Harriet was previously named Belper’s Young Farmers’ spokesperson and is the daughter of fellow farmer Eddy Cowan.

Harriet also has glimpses of her personal life on her Instagram, including pictures with her boyfriend James.

The 24-year-old’s involvement in the show comes after Kaleb left Jeremy “in the lurch” as he headed out on tour.

“I want to make it plain that I am absolutely thrilled to bits for Kaleb, but he has left me just a little bit in the lurch,” the former Top Gear star says in the trailer.

After explaining that he needs a farmhand, Clarkson is seen questioning a new member of staff who admits she has never seen the programme.

However, fans don’t have to fret as the series will follow Kaleb as he embarks on his nationwide tour before returning to his role as farm manager.

Elsewhere in the teaser for series four, Clarkson sets out to buy a pub that will reignite his farm-to-fork restaurant vision. It comes after the council shut down his Oxfordshire restaurant after it was allegedly opened without planning permission.

Owen Cooper’s next role after Adolescence revealed – and it’s already iconic

Adolescence’s Owen Cooper is the biggest breakout star of the year – but what does he have coming up next?

Adolescence on Netflix features a stunning cast led by Stephen Graham and Ashley Walters, but newcomer Owen Cooper is arguably the four-part drama’s biggest stand-out.

The 15-year-old actor portrays Jamie Cooper in the harrowing series, a young teen who is arrested and accused of the murder of his female classmate.

Millions of viewers have already tuned into the hard-hitting series, which unfolds across four single takes that delve into the aftermath of the murder that leaves Jamie’s family shell-shocked.

Critics have been raving about Cooper’s stellar first TV performance, and he’s already well on his way to becoming a major star.

In fact, he’s already landed a huge new big screen role with one of the biggest stars working in Hollywood right now.

So, when will fans next see Owen Cooper?

The teen is set to star alongside Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the upcoming adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, directed by Saltburn filmmaker Emerald Fennell.

He’s set to play young Heathcliff, with Elordi stepping into the role of the older version of his character.

Actress Charlotte Mellington will portray the younger version of Robbie’s character, Catherine.

The cast also includes Shazad Latif, Hong Chau and Alison Oliver and the film is set to be released on February 13, 2026.

For the time being, Cooper is keeping details about the project to himself, though he let some insights slip during a recent chat with i-D.

He called Elordi “such a nice guy”, adding “my family can say the same as well”.

Cooper also teased “It’s fun. I like it”, though any other titbits will have to wait until the film’s trailer is released.

The Warrington-born star currently has no other projects listed, though after the success of Adolescence it won’t be a surprise if offers start coming thick and fast.

However, the young actor also admitted he never saw performing as a viable career until now.

“I just never really wanted to be an actor,” he revealed. “It wasn’t really in my DNA.”

This quickly changed when he saw a young Tom Holland in the 2012 disaster film The Impossible and he now has aspirations to follow in the fellow Brit’s footsteps.

“I want to play Spider-Man,” he revealed. Could he be donning the red and blue spandex in a future Marvel reboot? Wait and see…

Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix.
