Channel 4 Sunday Brunch stopped minutes in as Tim Lovejoy shares ‘tragic news’

Sunday Brunch was back on our screens this morning (6th July) and it wasn’t long before hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer were forced to address some ‘tragic news’

Sunday Brunch presenter Tim Lovejoy brought the programme to an abrupt stop shortly after it began, as he delivered some “tragic news”.

The television favourite made his comeback on our screens this Sunday (6th July) morning with co-host Simon Rimmer, as they invited a host of celebrities into the renowned kitchen.

But just a few minutes into the broadcast, Tim paused to pay tribute to Diogo Jota. The Liverpool footballer was tragically killed in a car crash, with the devastating news breaking less than two weeks following his nuptials.

In the wake of the tragedy, fans have been sharing their deep sorrow, prompting Tim and Simon to dedicate Sunday Brunch’s opening segment to the late sportsman, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Addressing the audience at home and those present in the studio, Tim said: “Before we get on with the show, there has been some really tragic news this week about Diogo Jota, and being a Liverpool fan…”

Simon interjected: “It’s shocking. Pete and I were talking in makeup. A human tragedy, a 28-year-old man, who has just got married and had two young children. I think the way in which the football community has come together is very very powerful.”

Directing the conversation towards Peter Hooton, one of the day’s guests, Simon asked: “What do you think Pete?”

The singer, a devoted Liverpool supporter, expressed: “The way people have rallied round. It’s an absolutely devastating thing for everyone, for the family, for Liverpool fans and just football in general. You can see that with the Club World Cup, with all the tributes in America.”

Former footballer Stuart Douglas confessed: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw it and it just overshadowed everything and that became more important than anything else.”

He elaborated: “More important than the World Cup, more important than the Euros because someone has lost their life and for the brothers I cannot imagine how his family are feeling. It’s so sad.”

Tim chimed in with a heartfelt message: “Yes, thoughts go out to their family.”

Tragically, the 28 year old and his brother were involved in a fatal car crash in Spain, with the Guardia Civil stating: “The information we have so far is that the car, which was a Lamborghini, was in a road traffic accident and left the road due to a tyre blowout while overtaking.”

They added: “It was in the early hours, 00:30 BST, in the municipality of Cernadilla in the province of Zamora. The car caught on fire, and the two occupants were killed.”

Grand Designs reject house now worth £3m after cancelling Kevin McCloud visit

Channel 4’s Grand Designs rejected a country mansion worth £3 million after they refused to send host Kevin McCloud to visit the property as it was going ‘too well’

Channel 4 turned down a Yorkshire project(Image: Channel 4)

For a quarter of a century, Kevin McCloud has been the face of Channel 4’s much-loved renovation series, Grand Designs. The programme showcases the trials and triumphs of individuals as they strive to build their dream homes, documenting every step from design to completion.

However, it appears that not all projects make the cut for the show, particularly if they’re going too smoothly. The owner of a Yorkshire property has spoken out, claiming that Channel 4 cancelled the show’s visit after deciding against featuring the home. According to the Yorkshire Post, the production company behind Grand Designs had identified the construction of Hawksworth’s Moor Reservoir in Yorkshire as an ideal project.

Despite its breathtaking location and daring architecture, Channel 4 decided against filming the project because “there wasn’t enough drama”. The former owner of Hawksworth Moor Reservoir, Jonathan, shared his disappointment about Channel 4’s decision with the publication, reports the Express.

He revealed: “We thought it would go ahead and had even briefed about booking in ‘Kevin days’ but then got an email saying Channel 4 didn’t want to go with the project because they thought it would run too smoothly and wouldn’t provide enough drama.

“It was definitely a compliment, in a way,” he shared, adding, “I spent a number of years restoring a 16th-century farmhouse in Haworth and I liked living there, but I wanted another project and I wanted something different, a bigger challenge.

“I’ve always moved up a level each time I renovated, and this is definitely the pinnacle.”

Describing the grand estate, the country mansion sprawls across 12 acres and features four en-suite bedrooms, a home cinema, a games room complete with comfy seating and an expansive open-plan kitchen that proudly houses a boardroom-style dining table that seats 14.

Further amenities include a separate annex with three more bedrooms, a private gym, a well-appointed office, a modern shower room, and even a kitchen within the garage.

Jonathan conceded: “The build went very smoothly, we went over budget, but there was a conscious decision to spend more on the heat recovery and ventilation units and the kitchen. There were no sleepless nights.”

The Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.

Last month, a Grand Designs property that took two decades to renovate went on the market for £1.5 million, with fans calling it the “perfect” home.

‘I brought my husband to a date with another woman on TV and this is how it went’

Emily, Sophie and Ricki made history on Channel 4’s First Dates.

A throuple on First Dates has reflected on making history on the Channel 4 programme.

The reality series has seen plenty of hopefuls come and go through the First Dates restaurant doors, greeted by I’m A Celebrity star and maître d’ Fred Sirieix and barman Merlin Griffiths.

But in tonight’s programme, launching the new series, one woman was surprised to hear that she was being set up with not one but two people.

Mum-of-three Sophie had never dated a woman before and was hoping to find someone alternative, authentic and open-minded, which her date with Emily certainly was.

The pair hit it off quickly, with Sophie overcoming her nerves to finally reveal to Emily that she was married, and her husband Ricki was sitting at the bar, waiting to join them.

The couple, who have been together for 10 years and wed in 2018, were looking to open up their marriage and find someone to join them.

“We were curious to explore new connections together, and thought, why not? It felt like the right time to do something bold and go for it,” Sophie later told The Mirror in an exclusive interview.

“It was exciting but nerve-wracking at the same time.”

She and Ricki had considered opening their relationship up two years after meeting and once attempted a “lifestyle club” where they were welcomed with “open arms,” but now they wanted to take things further.

“We’ve always been very private, and never really spoken to other people about our relationship and never had the chance to open it up. We’ve had a couple of experiences with friends but nothing has ever developed from that,” she said.

Two years ago, Sophie told Ricki she was bisexual, and wanted to potentially explore that, which he was open to. Having not found the right person to date, First Dates became their first encounter with another person.

“I was quite nervous walking in, I feel like the idea of having a blind date – especially when you haven’t dated for a long time – was very nerve-wracking to me. But as soon as I walked in, I felt really welcomed and those nerves went away fairly quickly,” she recalled.

Ricki, meanwhile, wasn’t “too nervous” but just excited and hopeful after failing to find what they were looking for on dating apps. “There aren’t many dating apps for couples looking for singles,” he said. “And if there are, it’s purely (within our experiences) just for sexual encounters, and that’s not what we were looking for.”

Both Sophie and Ricki appeared to instantly connect with Emily, who also shared her “amazing” experience in an interview.

She said: “It was an exciting opportunity, and obviously, for me, I didn’t know what I was going into in terms of who the date was going to be. I’m very pansexual, I’ve dated all the genders, all the colours of the rainbow, and I didn’t know if it was going to be a guy or a girl, someone in between, or a couple because I definitely expressed that was an interest of mine as well. The way the date played out was amazing.”

Emily on First Dates
Emily called the date a ‘nice surprise’(Image: Channel 4)

Like Ricki, Emily hadn’t had success on dating apps and wanted to try First Dates to meet new people.

“I love dating and I love meeting new people, I think meeting new people is the meaning of life to be honest, making new connections, and so I thought what a fun and interesting way to meet some cool people,” she said.

The massage therapist went on: “I’ve dated couples before and really enjoyed it in the past, [but] it’s quite hard to find the right dynamic. Obviously dating is hard enough just trying to find two people that match, so to find a dynamic where all three people are all compatible is harder sometimes.”

As soon as Emily saw Sophie, she felt “really happy” and a “wave of relief,” confessing, “I had a huge crush on Sophie.”

While Ricki wasn’t necessarily her usual type, Emily admitted that within five minutes of meeting him, she could feel his “warmth and humour”.

She added, “We all got on really well, and to be honest, energy and personality tend to be the driver of who I end up with.”

Despite not initially being aware that she would be dating both Sophie and Ricki, Emily shared that she wasn’t “shocked” but rather “nicely surprised.”

“I would have been very happy with just dating Sophie alone, but it was a nice little surprise for me; I wasn’t worried at all,” she said.

Emily, Sophie, and Ricki not only found luck with their dates, but they also all shared how proud they are to have been a part of an empowering message on First Dates.

Things seemed to go well for the trio(Image: Channel 4)

“I feel really honoured that I was part of First Dates’ first three-way date because it hasn’t been done before and I think it does break down a lot of stigma,” Emily, who has previously appeared on Channel 4’s Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, said.

“With Open House, it’s all very raunchy and risky and a lot of things go wrong but with First Dates I hope it comes across that for me, it was really amazing, we had a great connection, and actually these things aren’t really taboo at all.

“It’s just three people who really get along, having a nice time. And I think that people make it a lot deeper than it needs to be, it’s really just not that deep.”

Sophie also said: “I really like the fact that we’ve had this opportunity to be able to be the first people to do it, it’s exciting for us, we love that. Hopefully it does provide an empowering message to other couples that may be wanting to explore those sorts of connections too.”

First Dates airs Fridays at 10pm on Channel 4.

The trio of women let the cameras follow them again as they try to find (or keep) love, look after their kids and build businesses

Made in Chelsea breakout stars Binky Felstead, Lucy Watson and Rosie Fortescue are returning to E4 for a second series of Beyond Chelsea.

And this time around viewers will follow the three women, now in their mid-thirties, as they balance motherhood, family life and relationships, while running businesses and navigating life in the public eye.

The two-part fly on the wall spin-off, to air on E4 later this year, will give viewers more information about Binky’s mum’s challenges with MS (multiple sclerosis). The audience will also find out whether Rosie has had any success with finding a partner, after last time around she decided she was ready to welcome romance back into her life, with Binky acting as wing woman.

The cameras also follow as Lucy moves into her new home mid-development while Binky takes on yet another new business venture, with all three trying to balance motherhood, family life and relationships.

Production boss Helen Kruger Bratt told the Mirror that other Made in Chelsea favourites would also pop up. “The love for Made in Chelsea, and the franchise as a whole, just keeps growing,” she told the Mirror. “Every series brings in new fans, while longtime viewers stay closely connected to the lives of our brilliant cast.

“With Beyond Chelsea, we’ve loved reconnecting with some of MIC’s most iconic OGs in a way we’ve never done before. Featuring these three amazing women, and guest appearances from other ex-MIC favourites, this second series promises to be even more revealing, emotional, and hilarious.”

Binky and Ollie

Channel 4 Senior Commissioning Editor Clemency Green added: “Binky, Lucy and Rosie’s lives are chaotic and yet they still find time to allow the cameras back in. The Made in Chelsea fans are going to love seeing what they have been up to this past year, catching up on the gang as they share the ups and downs of their lives.”

Main series Made in Chelsea will also be back on E4 for a 29th run. The BAFTA award-winning show, which first launched in 201, has since notched up a staggering 332 episodes. This time some of the cast head off to a luxury resort in Thailand – where they are joined by a new faces who are “set to cause a stir”.

In January, Binky hinted the show would be back with more appearances from some of the original cast from when the show started 14 years ago. “We only had time to do two episodes last year and to test people’s interest… which was off the charts and overwhelmingly positive,” she said. “Since then we’ve had 3/4 of the OG’s reach out who want to be part of the next phase – all very exciting.”

Love Island exes clash behind the scenes of This Morning leaving Chris Hughes ‘shaken’

Chris Hughes is said to be ‘upset’ that his Love Island ex Olivia Attwood landed a role with ITV’s This Morning after her ‘hitting out’ at his current relationship online

Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood’s bitter history is threatening to spill over into ITV’s This Morning as the exes now find themselves working on the same show.

Seven years on from their fiery split the former Love Island stars are set to run into each other again as Olivia steps in as a guest host on the daytime programme this summer, which has reportedly left Chris rattled. Sources told The Sun that Olivia’s new role has sparked behind-the-scenes headaches for This Morning bosses, who are keen to keep the former couple apart.

Chris has been appearing regularly on the show as a roving reporter since his stint on Celebrity Big Brother, and it seems that Olivia’s arrival has thrown a spanner in the works for him.

Chris Hughes and Oliva Attwood at the National Television Awards
The Love Island alums split up seven years ago but are still said to have major friction(Image: Getty Images)

An insider said: “Chris has been doing regular presenting gigs on location for This Morning ever since Celebrity Big Brother.

“He was starting to build up a really good relationship with the producers on the show and was hoping it would lead to more regular appearances over the summer – including a potential spot on the sofa or in the studio.

“Olivia coming on board to front the show for several dates over the next few weeks feels like a huge blow to him. He doesn’t want to have to do live crosses to his ex in front of the nation – it’s so awkward and he feels like the viewers will be scrutinising their every interaction and every little facial expression will be analysed. It’s the last thing he wants.”

Although it’s been years since they dated, Chris is said to have been hurt by comments Olivia made about his relationship with housemate JoJo Siwa during his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

While he was on the Channel 4 reality show, Olivia revealed she needed therapy after dating him. She also accused him of acting “creepy” around JoJo, who is 11 years younger than Chris.

In one TikTok video, Olivia said: “The therapy was expensive and now I’m going to have to go back for another round because I’m getting trolled on this app and because every weird, creepy thing that happens, I’m getting tagged in it.”

She went on to claim Chris was putting on a performance for the cameras. She added: “[Some] people, they go on reality TV, they are one person and when you experience them off camera… It’s like shapeshifters.”

When she was asked about Chris’s romance with JoJo after the show online, Olivia hinted he might be using the relationship for publicity, quipping: “she’s really famous”.

One of Chris’s friends has claimed he was upset by the snippy remarks, adding: “He didn’t understand why she needed to comment on him at all, as he never mentions her publicly. He has always only said positive things about her, both at the time of the split and since then.”

They went on to share more about his current dilemma, saying: “Now, just when all that post-CBB stuff has died down and he is happy with JoJo and really busy with work, Liv lands a gig on This Morning.

“Chris was really shocked as she is a regular on Loose Women, so he didn’t expect her to cross over to the show he works on. He felt like they had their own patches and now that’s no longer the case.

“Liv’s basically the new golden girl of ITV daytime, and he worries he’s going to be phased out, especially as she is the one with the plum main presenter spot on the sofa and he is a smaller part of the This Morning family.

“Ultimately, if bosses have to choose between her and him, he fears he’ll be the more expendable one. He’s also really not someone who likes conflict, so he would rather walk away.”

This Morning and Chris Hughes’ reps have been contacted for comment.

BBC staff in ‘open revolt’ over axed Gaza documentary and claim bosses ‘out of touch’

It’s been claimed that staff at the BBC are in an ‘open revolt’ after the broadcaster scrapped a documentary about Gaza which will now be shown on Channel 4

Staff at the BBC are said to be in an “open revolt” after the broadcaster decided to scrap a documentary about Gaza, according to MailOnline. On Saturday, it was revealed that Channel 4 will now air the said documentary instead, which was earlier commissioned by the BBC.

Gaza: Doctors Under Attack was created by two Emmy award-winning filmmakers and commissioned by the BBC over the year ago. However, it’s been claimed that the corporation had put a pause on production in April after an investigation was launched into another documentary, titled Gaza: How to Survive a War Zone.

Following this, Channel 4 will now be broadcasting Gaza: Doctors Under Attack on Wednesday, July 2, at 10pm. But the BBC’s decision is said to have left a bad taste in their staff’s mouths and they are reportedly in uproar over the broadcaster not showing the documentary on their channels.

The aforementioned publication has claimed that more than 300 people have reportedly signed an open letter to director-general Tim Davie to raise concern about censorship at the BBC as it pertains to reporting about Israel.

An insider told MailOnline: “The people at commissioner level who are experienced journalists and take these decisions on an almost daily basis are being overruled by people who are pretending to be journalists.

“There’s open revolt [at the BBC]. [Bosses] approved the film multiple times and then delayed it at least five times but confirmed in emails that it would go out and that the delays were not due to the Johnstone report into Gaza: How to survive in a war zone.

“They said this [new documentary] was a vital film that exemplified ”public interest journalism’. After these multiple delays over six weeks they then apologised and said, ”Sorry, it is because of the Johnstone report”.’

The documentary will now air on Channel 4 on Wednesday, July 2

Gaza: Doctors Under Attack is a one-off episode, produced by Basement Films, that examines allegations against Israel that the nation have repeatedly targeted hospitals which is a breach of international law. The documentary was made by journalist Ramita Navai, director Karim Shah and former Channel 4 News Editor Ben De Pear.

The source went on to tell MailOnline that they had to “handle the duty of care” for doctors and medics who couldn’t understand why their interviews wouldn’t be going out on the BBC.

“The film has been fact-checked and complied by Channel 4 to ensure it meets the broadcaster’s editorial standards and the Ofcom Broadcasting Code.

It was greenlit by Channel 4 Head of News and Current Affairs and Specialist Factual and Sport, Louisa Compton. She said: “This is a meticulously reported and important film examining evidence which supports allegations of grave breaches of international law by Israeli forces that deserves to be widely seen and exemplifies Channel 4’s commitment to brave and fearless journalism.”

Basement Films has added: “This is the third film we have made about the assault on Gaza since October 7th at Basement Films, and whilst none of them have been easy this became by far the most difficult. As ever we owe everything to our Palestinian colleagues on the ground; over 200 of whom have been killed by Israel, and the doctors and medics who trusted us with their stories.

“We want to apologise to the contributors and team for the long delay, and thank Channel 4 for enabling it to be seen.” Mirror have contacted both the BBC and Channel 4 for comment.

A BBC spokesperson told the Mirror: “Robust discussions amongst our editorial teams about our journalism are an essential part of the editorial process. We have ongoing discussions about coverage and listen to feedback from staff and we think these conversations are best had internally.

“Regarding our coverage of Gaza, the BBC is fully committed to covering the conflict impartially and has produced powerful coverage from the region. Alongside breaking news, ongoing analysis, and investigations, we have produced award winning documentaries such as Life and Death in Gaza, and Gaza 101.”

Sunday Brunch’s Tim Lovejoy issues apology to Aisling Bea after ‘boring’ motherhood question

Sunday Brunch hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer issued an apology to comedian Aisling Bea after they asked her a ‘boring’ question about motherhood

Sunday Brunch hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy playfully said sorry to comedian Aisling Bea after they quizzed her on her personal life.

The Irish comedian made an appearance on the Channel 4 morning show alongside guests like Big Zuu, with Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson from Such Brave Girls.

Almost immediately into the show, Tim disclosed a backstage chat with Aisling, prompting a cheeky apology from him.

He explained: “Aisling, this morning you came in and I said to you, ‘How is it being a mum?’ and then Simon said to you, ‘Congratulations, I’ve not seen you since becoming a mum,’ and you said, ‘Simon, the boring thing and being a mum is that everyone keeps asking about it’.”

“So I apologise for that,” he said with a chuckle: “But how is it being a mum?” reports the Manchester Evening News.

Aisling responded with playful repartee: “Thank you for apologising, I’ll work on forgiveness but I can’t guarantee it.”

She continued: “I still identify as a child-free, single lady because of the vibe but I do have a baby and a boyfriend.”

With her signature wit, Aisling commented on “rival show” Saturday Kitchen, saying her little one “couldn’t get her head around it” so she likely wasn’t watching her mum today.

Opening up about motherhood, she added: “I feel like I’m not a mum yet, at the start you’re just like dealing with a new person in the house, I think it’ll be a while before that feels like I’m a mother.”

Aisling revealed that she and her partner Jack Freeman became parents for the first time in August last year, after getting celebrities like Paul Rudd and Travis Kelce to announce her pregnancy news months earlier.

She took to Instagram to share the birth of her baby, posting a series of photos showing her growing bump, ending with a final snap of her cradling her newborn daughter in hospital.

In a playful post, she wrote: “Trip advisor review of Pregnancy One star,” and listed a series of “negatives” such as it being “expensive” and leaving her feeling “very unrested”.

“Not as described online or in pictures. Reminded me of the Glasgow Willie Wonka experience. Towards the end of my stay I was repeatedly kicked in the nuts,” she continued.

She then went on to list: “UTIs, bleeding, depression, cramps, insomnia, nosebleeds, sinus blockage, migraines, vomiting, being randomly touched by people without asking, bones mushing, organs moving, skin stretching, being told that you’ll forget all the pain/that it’s a privilege / that it will all be “worth it” in the end, heightened awareness of climate change and worst of all- boredom- all described as « normal » and was repeatedly recommended « a nice bath » as a fix to all of the above.”

Aisling also shared the “positives”, saying she enjoyed the bath at the end and appreciated the help with her bags, adding: “Before checking out, nearby kebab shop man provided free extra chips and quite a flirty wink, which I appreciated. Was given a little gift at check out which is, admittedly, quite cute. “

Blind Date reboot will return with HUGE twist inspired by another ITV game show

IT is one of the most nostalgic TV reboots of the year – but I can reveal the return of Blind Date will come with a very modern Love Island-style twist.

Earlier this month I revealed the programme, made famous by host Cilla Black in the Eighties on ITV, was being revived by Disney+.

Maya Jama in a black dress in a pink office setting.

4

The Blind Date revival will be set on a tropical island — just like Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama

But it will have a different flavour because much of the show will be spent on a tropical island — just like Love Island, hosted by Maya Jama— where contestants will compete for a dream wedding on the golden sands.

A TV insider said: “This sounds like a radical departure from the old Blind Date, one that definitely has hints of Love Island about it.

“But fans will recall a lot of the dates took place in hot, sunny climes abroad, and producers want to recapture some of the steamy fun, and expand upon that.

“Even the wedding element has hints of the old show, because the dream was always that the dates on the programme would lead to couples tying the knot.”

Cilla was at the helm for 18 years on the show which saw a contestant firing questions at three hopefuls concealed from their view by a wall — which slid back to reveal their chosen date.

One of the hopefuls in 1991 was Amanda Holden.

The TV insider added: “In the reboot, the creators are not entirely dispensing with all of the old characteristics either as there are still plans to incorporate the show’s famous sliding wall and hire a top female host just like Cilla.”

Disney+ is imminently expected to confirm it is reviving Blind Date, though all details have been kept firmly under wraps.

No presenter has signed up as yet but the channel is targeting some big names in British TV, with the main criteria being that they have to be hugely famous women.

Here’s hoping whoever gets the role doesn’t mind getting a bit of sand between their toes in the course of the job.

STEPHEN IN TECH LESSON

STEPHEN FRY wants to make a futuristic TV drama series where e-mails, TikTok and SnapChat are “uncool” and people return to basic communication in “an unplugged life”.

The Celebrity Traitors star told podcast Extraordinary Life Stories: “I was planning to write a TV series in which this kid comes to a school and completely changes it.”

The pupil asks the teacher how to submit his essay as he doesn’t have a computer so can’t email it.

Stephen continues: “All the other (pupils) think ‘Who is this ridiculous child?’

“But then he starts influencing everybody. They think this is quite a fun way to live.

“We’ve come to a tipping point now where the uncoolest thing in the world is Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok.

“We know they’re harmful, but they are also vapid and shallow and silly.

“Imagine an unplugged life using all these fabulous old tools. You’d be the coolest people.”

SEX JOKE BIT MUCH FOR WILL

BRIT actor Will Sharpe came over all prudish about a sex scene in upcoming Netflix rom-com series Too Much . . . well, compared with the Americans on set.

He cringed as US actress Megan Stalter, who plays the lead role in the show about an American woman coping with a new life in London, joked with the show’s US creator Lena Dunham after the X-rated action.

At this week’s launch of the show, which drops on July 10, Lena said: “One of Meg’s favourite things to do is to ask you after a take: ‘What face were you making during that?’

“One time it was right after a sex scene and Meg was like: ‘What face were you making during that?’

“And I heard Will’s mic, like: ‘Jesus f***ing Christ, Meg!’”

Man vomits before he lets his girlfriend sleep with another man in bizarre experiment

A Channel 4 sex experiment show has left viewers shocked as committed couples agree to have sex with other people to see if they are willing to have a polyamorous relationship

A Channel 4 reality show has left viewers stunned – and some reaching to turn off the TV – after a contestant vomited while participating in a bizarre sex experiment that saw his girlfriend sleeping with other men.

In the latest explosive episode of Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, Tom and his girlfriend Lauren signed up to explore non-monogamy in an attempt to reignite their relationship – but the reality proved too much for Tom to stomach, quite literally.

The controversial show, which airs on Channel 4, invites committed couples to a luxurious countryside retreat to test the boundaries of their relationships by experimenting with open sex – all under the watchful eyes of cameras and sex therapists.

Touted by the show as a bold dive into “one of society’s greatest taboos” – monogamy – Open House has become one of the broadcaster’s most talked-about series, following in the footsteps of the equally provocative Virgin Island, which was slammed by some viewers as “creepy” and “uncomfortable”.

In one episode, Tom and Lauren were advised by non-monogamy coach Effy Blue to try spending time independently to see how it would impact their bond. But things quickly turned from awkward to distressing.

Despite Lauren’s pep talk – “Don’t be nervous. You absolutely got this” – Tom looked pale and anxious as she reassured him about the day ahead. Moments later, he was seen rushing off camera to vomit in the bathroom.

“This is going to be horrible,” he admitted. “I feel absolutely petrified and sick.”

Lauren, hugging him from behind, gently urged: “All that anyone can ask is that you just try, okay?”

Lauren had been the one to suggest they experiment with other people from the outset. Speaking to the camera, she said: “Yes, it’s throwing me and Tom in the deep end… but for him to have the confidence that we can go off, have our fun, and come back to each other at the end of the night – it’s insane.”

But viewers weren’t convinced – many taking to social media to question both the format and the wellbeing of those taking part.

“I’m no prude, but this is unnecessarily graphic and getting away with it by being ‘educational’,” posted one user on X. “Grow up, Channel 4. Full of exhibitionists.”

Another wrote: “Tom needs help and support – he shouldn’t be anywhere near this show. #OpenHouse.”

“Honestly feel bad for Tom,” added one viewer. “He needs counselling, not cameras in his face.”

A fourth branded the episode “so awkward to watch,” while others said Channel 4 was simply pushing boundaries for shock value.

Tom had opened up about bedroom issues in the episode, explaining he struggled “to get it up” due to performance anxiety. But later on, his worries passed as both he and Lauren had sex with different people in separate rooms at the same time.

Open House: The Great Sex Experiment is available to stream now on Channel 4.

Death in Paradise star’s forgotten sitcom now on Prime Video and you won’t recognise him

A Channel 4 sitcom, starring a Death in Paradise favourite, is now trending on Prime Video despite having been released over a decade ago

A sitcom featuring Ardal O’Hanlon that originally aired over a decade ago has found new popularity on Prime Video.

London Irish, which first graced Channel 4 in 2013, boasts a star-studded cast including Death in Paradise’s Ardal O’Hanlon and Derry Girls’ Peter Campion. The show centres around a group of Belfast expats navigating life in London.

The series was the brainchild of Lisa McGee, the creative force behind Derry Girls. Despite only running for six episodes and Channel 4 deciding against a second season, London Irish has found renewed interest.

Now available on Prime Video, the show has been given the ‘trending now’ label, demonstrating its enduring appeal 12 years after its initial release.

The cast also features Sinéad Keenan, known for her role in Unforgotten, Game of Thrones actor Ker Logan, No Offence’s Tracey Lynch, and Kat Reagan, reports Wales Online.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator and star of BBC’s Fleabag, also makes a guest appearance in London Irish, portraying a character named Steph in one episode.

The synopsis for London Irish reads: “Conor and Bronagh are twenty-something siblings from Northern Ireland who, along with friends Packy and Niamh, are trying to make their way through London life.

“The foursome find navigating the big city challenging, particularly as they’re playing by their own unique set of rules, leading to all sorts of mischief.

“Conor is highly unpredictable and tends to just go with unbelievable things that tend to happen to him while his older sister, Bronagh, is the opposite of him – cynical, dark and fierce. Self-confident Niamh is ambitious and can be ruthless when she doesn’t get what she wants.

“Packy is the closest thing the group has to a parental figure and tries to keep the others in line but often gets dragged into their madness.”

Whether you’re wanting to see some familiar queer faces in a reality TV show or fall in love on screen, there’s so much great LGBTQIA+ storytelling waiting to be shared. To make life a little easier, we’ve compiled a quick list of what there is on offer, across all genres, that you may not have seen just yet.

Overcompensating (Amazon Prime)

This new addition from Amazon Prime is the talk of the town this month, as the comedy drama sees a guest appearance from Charli XCX. Not to mention, a whole load of cameos from online queer comedians, including the creator and lead actor, Benito Skinner, better known as Bennydrama.

Viewers can watch him star as a high school jock, fresh into college at Yates University, grappling with his sexuality. The popular kid is a closeted gay guy and finds himself in all kinds of situations to mask his true identity and fit in with his heterosexual classmates.

Feel Good (Netflix)

Feel Good is a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama created by and starring Mae Martin. The non-binary actor plays a fictionalised version of themself as they struggle to cope with addiction and their attachment to their girlfriend George.

Charlotte Richie, known for her roles in Fresh Meat and Call The Midwife, stars as Mae’s complicated partner whom they live with. In a series of hilarious, quintessentially British and awkward moments, George struggles to come out to her loved ones but falls madly in love with Mae. The touching TV show also stars none other than Friends actress Lisa Kudrow, who plays Mae’s over-the-top Canadian mother.

Queer Eye (Netflix)

The 2018 reboot of an old reality show saw Queer Eye turn into an impressive nine-season run, with its all-LGBTQ+ hosts gaining traction worldwide. Five experts in their fields – fashion, grooming, interiors, cooking, and lifestyle – transform the lives of everyday people in an attempt to improve their lives, using their years of experience and knowledge.

Travelling across the US, the Fab Five team are met with people from all walks of life, including those that may even have views against the queer community, where they face an even bigger task. It is emotional and heartwarming as you see people who don’t take the time for themselves be given the gift of compassion, care and, of course, a whole new makeover.

It’s A Sin (Channel 4)

One short series packs in a strong punch in what is a highly acclaimed show with an outstanding cast. It’s a Sin is set in 1980s London, during the AIDS crisis, and follows the lives of young men, who moved to the city in search of a new life and were met with tragedy.

While the series is a celebration of the queer community in the 80s, it retells a vital and heartbreaking story of the young homosexual men that lost their lives to AIDS. Not only that, but it deals with the prejudice the community faced as a result of the HIV virus at the time.

Killing Eve (BBC iPlayer)

Killing Eve is an unstoppable spy thriller that follows an investigator tasked with capturing an insane assassin, Villanelle. As she chases down her latest case, her obsession becomes stronger, and Villanelle enjoys the thrill of being wanted. Each episode sees their unusual connection grow into toxic mind games that leave you questioning what is genuine and what is all one big mind game.

The first two series were critically acclaimed, starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, who went on to win numerous BAFTA Awards and Golden Globes for their roles. The obsessive pair’s violent, emotional and sexual relationship grows and flows throughout the four seasons of the show, and all of them are available to binge-watch on BBC iPlayer and Netflix.

Heartstopper (Netflix)

Heartstopper - season 3
Olivia Coleman appears in the award-winning series (Image: Samuel Dore/Netflix)

This is a heart-warming coming-of-age show, based on a teen fiction novel with the same name, that tells the touching story of two young boys falling in love. It deals with a group of teenagers as they face coming out, friendship struggles, first times, sexuality and identity.

Heartstopper gained critical acclaim and high praise for its tasteful portrayal of LGBTQ+ people and went on to receive a number of Emmy nominations. Within just a few days of its release, it became one of the top ten most-watched English language shows on Netflix and remains a staple queer show for many TV fans.

Gentleman Jack (BBC iPlayer)

A period drama based around a 19th-century lesbian love affair, Gentleman Jack is seeped in history and makes for the perfect binge-watch. Set in the Yorkshire hills during the 1830s, it follows Anne Lister, an industrialist and landowner, whose real-life diaries helped to build the plot of the show.

Decades upon decades later, the diaries were discovered, many of which were written in a secret code that details a lifetime of the businesswoman’s lesbian relationships. Each episode takes you on a journey, based on these stories, in what becomes a sensual and steamy romance.

Kim Woodburn’s most controversial moments from iconic Big Brother outburst to Aggie truth

The star shot to fame later in life but made the most of her time in the spotlight with her unfiltered, outspoken attitude. Here are five times Kim ruffled feathers

The sad news has emerged today that presenter-turned-reality star Kim Woodburn has died at the age of 83. The firebrand, who shot to fame on Channel 4’s How Clean Is Your House with Aggie MacKenzie, passed away on Monday.

Kim had been married to her husband Peter for 46 years, living with her ‘soulmate’ in Nantwich, Cheshire. In a statement, her representative said: “Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate.”

From being at the heart of the most explosive row in the history of Celebrity Big Brother to taking on one of the nation’s best-known TV presenters, the star was never one to back down. We take a look back at five of Kim’s most memorable moments…

Tensions with Aggie

C4’s How Clean Is Your House? made household names out of Kim and Aggie but the duo famously didn’t get on all that well during the six seasons of the show. Aggie later spilled the beans on their fallout, saying that while the “friction” between the pair had made for good television, appearing on stage together was the final straw.

“We were doing panto in Brighton,” she said. “I was so shocked and upset and angry. I lost my rag with her.” Aggie revealed the pair didn’t speak for the last two series of the show and even said: “Kim was such a big, damaging part of my life. I feel she almost destroyed me”.

Kim, on the other hand, was uncharacteristically silent on the controversy. The star simply said she “never said anything derogatory about Aggie” and was “not going to start now”.

Celebrity Big Brother storm

Kim and security
Security intervened to calm the star down on the reality TV show(Image: Channel 5)

Kim made a memorable appearance on C4’s Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, when she became embroiled in a heated argument with some of her fellow contestants, including ex-glamour models Nicola McLean and Bianca Gascoigne and former footballer Jamie O’Hara.

Never one to back down, the star warned them: “I’ll cross you so badly and you’ll regret it for the rest of your life!” before famously screaming at Jamie: “You’re an adulterer… you two-timed your wife and she’s got three kids!”.

Kim was removed by the show’s security to calm down the situation and spent the night in the spare room before returning the next day. She finished in a respectable third place in the contest, during the course of which she branded fellow housemates “filthy, dirty scum” and a “chicken livered bunch”.

Loose Women walk-off

Kim storming off set
Thousands of complaints were made after Kim’s Loose Women appearance(Image: TV Grab)

Another show to face Kim’s wrath was ITV’s Loose Women. She had fallen out with Coleen Nolan on Celebrity Big Brother after accusing the star and several other housemates of bullying and had been invited on the daytime show with executives hoping for a reconciliation.

Instead, Coleen told her: “You’re a horrible, self-centred, publicity-seeking witch”. Kim branded Coleen “lying trash”, raised her voice and stormed off.

There were a total of 3,000 complaints made to Ofcom accusing the show of picking on Kim. They included model Jodie Marsh, who wrote: “Having watched the Kim Woodburn interview I couldn’t not make a complaint! It was bullying, pure & simple.”

Kim vs Phillip

Kim on This Morning
The star later called Phillip a “horrible” and “obnoxious” man(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)

The TV icon had several on-air spats with presenter Phillip Schofield, who fronted ITV daytime stalwart This Morning for 21 years. At one point, she famously branded Phil a “big phoney” during a heated interview on the show.

The reality TV contestant had taken offence when questioned about her Celebrity Big Brother appearance, insisting to Phil that watching the 45-minute TV edit of the contest was not the same as living it for 24 hours a day. “Don’t think you are going to bully me, I have been around too long,” she told him, with viewers calling their chat “car-crash TV” and the “most awkward TV interview I’ve ever witnessed on This Morning”.

When the presenter wrapped up the chat by telling Kim it had been a delight to interview her she branded him a “phoney”. Six years later, when Phillip left This Morning in disgrace after admitting to an affair with a young colleague on the show, Kim called him “an obnoxious, horrible man”, saying “I don’t know why he’s still on television”.

‘Transphobia’ row

Known for being a gay icon, Kim was accused of transphobia in 2022 when she was interviewed on GB News and asked about unisex changing rooms. Her reply of “a man’s a man, a woman’s a woman” led to accusations of transphobia.

But the outspoken star hit back on social media, insisting her words had been deliberately misinterpreted. “During the show, we never discussed trans people,” said Kim.

“I have always supported the LGTBQ+ community, as you are all aware, and I count each and every single one of you, my friends. I will always be an ally to the community and would never say a bad word about any of you.”

Kim Woodburn’s iconic Celebrity Big Brother moments that spawned famous catchphrase

Kim Woodburn has sadly died at the age of 83, but her iconic Celebrity Big Brother moments will always be remembered by fans

Kim was an iconic housemate

Kim Woodburn was an icon but she has sadly died at the age of 83. As well as her role on Channel 4’s How Clean Is Your House, she was one of the most iconic Celebrity Big Brother contestants.

A statement released by her family confirmed she had died after a short illness. They said: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness.

“Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate. We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career. We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve. We will not be releasing any further details.”

Adulterer spat with Jamie

Kim found herself temporarily removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house as a row broke out over who had the toughest life to date. Nicola and Kim already didn’t see eye to eye and as the discussions continued, tensions rose.

Kim was one of Celebrity Big Brother's most controversial housemates

“You are the most two-faced people!” Kim shouted at them, with Nicola then responding: “When I’m your age and when I’m a grandmother, I will be so disappointed if I ever behave like you! Go to the Diary Room and don’t ever come back!'”

Kim did go to the diary room when she said: “I haven’t got a clue what this is all about. She [Nicola] is the mafia! The mafia won’t break me dear. They’re being nasty for no reason and they’re picking on me.”

Later, she headed back out to the house where the fight broke out again. She told Nicola and Bianca Gascoigne: “I’ll cross you so badly and you’ll regret it for the rest of your life! You want trouble and you’ll get it!

“You will never get the better of me! Give up, you horrible horrible girl!” Jamie then got involved and that was when she told them all: “You’re an absolute disgrace! You’re a bunch of chinless wonders!”

Jamie told her: “You’ve come in here and you’ve picked on young girls! I wouldn’t p**s on you if you were on fire!” to which she replied: “Well I wouldn’t s**t on you, if you were on fire! You’re an adulterer… you two-timed your wife and she’s got three kids!”

Nicola McClean row

It was always fireworks between the pair during their joint time in the house. During one argument, Kim did try and apologise to Nicola, saying she was “one of these people” who will say if something annoys her but Nicola was unconvinced and said that Kim had come to argue and called her deluded as their bitter war of words continued.

In one huge row, Kim called Nicola “Miss Insecure”. She fumed at her: “Shut up big gob! Miss Insecure. Don’t start with me… You’re a vile creature, who is jealous of everything and everybody.”

Speaking a few years later, Nicola was asked if she had ever made up with Kim and she said: “No absolutely not. It shouldn’t have been allowed the way she treated me in there… I swear I’ve still got Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from hearing her stomping around.”

Kim’s own words

Speaking of her experience on the show, Kim described her housemates as “filthy dirty scum”.

“If I were told I was going on a show with any of them, I’d refuse to go. I don’t care how much they’d pay me. If any of them were on there, I couldn’t sit in the same room as them. They know who they are filthy, dirty scum. Sorry, no,” she said.

“I may have been shouting and mouthy because I was terribly upset. They were horrible to me; six or seven of them were nasty people. I don’t know why they did it. They’ve got nothing to be proud of.”

She added: “You see these celebrities saying, ‘I’ve come in here for the experience’ – absolutely not, they’re not in there for the experience, what to get filthy, stinking and dirty in the jungle? No, no. I wish one of them… would just turn around and say, ‘I’m here for the money!’ other than me. What’s the shame in it? You work for the money!”

During the episode, the duo engaged in conversation with stars such as Josh Groban, Gabriel Howell, Tom Hughes, Yinka Bokinni, and Lesley Joseph, while chart-topping sensation AJ Tracey delivered a musical performance.

However, singer Yungblud was notably absent from the line-up, having been forced to withdraw from the show following his doctor’s orders.

Tim and Simon were back to host the show

“YUNGBLUD sadly isn’t here,” Tim announced. He elaborated: “He was going to be on last week’s show and he was ill. Then he was going to be on this week’s show and he’s ill again.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Simon contributed: “He’s sent us a sick note Tim. A little handwritten sick note.”

Tim then presented Yungblud’s forthcoming album, Idols, which featured a handwritten note on the reverse.

As Simon read out the note, he conveyed: “In summary, he said, ‘Dear Tim and Simon, I regret to inform you that I Yungblud will not be able to appear on your show this Sunday again. Doctors are insisting I spend the week horizontal.'”.

Simon disclosed: “He’s got tonsils,” before resuming with Yungblud’s note: “Enclosed is a £20 note in the hope that you will shamelessly promote my album that comes out this Friday, it’s really good.”

Last week saw Yungblud bow out, with pop and Indie sensation Jerub stepping in at the eleventh hour to fill the void.

Taking a seat for a chat on the couch with the hosts, Jerub admitted it had been a “tight squeeze” managing to pencil in his studio appearance, but he jumped at the chance when approached, eager to “make it work.”

Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.

Jon Richardson ‘signs up to huge Channel 4 show’ despite ‘quitting comedy’ after divorce

TV star Jon Richardson has reportedly signed up to a hit Channel 4 show despite giving up comedy for a very different career after his divorce from Lucy Beaumont

Comedian Jon Richardson is said to have signed up to take part in a popular Channel 4 show after “quitting comedy”. The TV star issued a surprise announcement earlier this year where he revealed he was changing careers.

His unexpected move came just months after his split from wife of nine years Lucy Beaumont. Jon and fellow comedian Lucy starred in their hit series Meet the Richardsons, but were forced to quit following their divorce.

In April, Jon revealed he was quitting comedy despite his huge success to become a teacher. However, he later revealed not all was as it seemed as he explained that he’d only be acting as a teacher for a role in Waterloo Road. In another surprise move Jon has reportedly landed another TV role.

He is now said to have signed up to take part in Celebrity Bake Off for their next Stand Up to Cancer campaign. A source said: “Bosses are over the moon that they signed up Jon. He is hilarious, so will bring the laughs to the tent, and he’s hugely popular with viewers.”

“It’s been a tough year for Jon following his split from Lucy, so this has given him some light relief and it’s all for charity, so that’s an added bonus,” they added to the Sun.

Posting on social media earlier this year, Jon made his bombshell revelation. He said: “I just thought I’d give you a little update. I don’t really do social media updates, and I’ll tell you why – because I don’t think anyone cares.

“But I have a little bit of news. I’ve obviously been taking a little bit of a break from stand-up and it’s really made me… want to carry on taking a break from stand-up.”

He added: “I’ve been thinking a lot about a diary entry that I found from 1997.” An excerpt of his old diary then popped on screen, as the BBC Radio 6 star explained: “It’s this one. I was 14 years old, it says although I would love to be a stand-up comedian, I’ll probably end up being a teacher. And I’ve been thinking a lot about that.”

Jon revealed: “I’ve loved being a comedian, it was absolutely the right choice. But I’ve decided it would’ve been nice to try the other option, so that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”

The comedian shared that he’d already accepted a teaching job, stating: “I’ve been doing some training, I’ve taken a teaching position. I will update you as and when I can. but that’s all from me for now, just to let you know where I’ve been. I’ll keep you posted.”

Jon and Lucy tied the knot in April 2015, and share eight-year-old daughter Elsie. At the time of their break-up, a joint statement read: “We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.

“As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment. Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont.”

In September it was revealed the pair had come to an agreement in their divorce payout as Jon handed Lucy an eye-watering amount. He gave Lucy a whopping £1.625 million. Lucy is also ready to make a return to TV, having signed up to take part in the first celebrity edition of The Traitors.

The Mirror has contacted Jon’s representatives and Channel 4 for comment.

Freeview successor is coming to Roku TVs with premium perks to rival Sky

FREEVIEW’S successor will appear on even more screens after landing a deal with one of the world’s biggest TV brands.

Freely, made from the same company as Freeview, is encouraging viewers away from the humble TV aerial to using Wi-Fi instead.

This means you don’t need to worry about pesky signal issues – nor having to place your telly near the aerial port in the wall.

For the moment, the service is hybrid so it can take Freeview channels the traditional way as well as via broadband.

Just recently, more than a dozen channels you can’t get with an aerial were added.

This includes a channel for game show favourite The Chase, all Channel 4’s best property shows on 4Homes, plus 5 Cops for all ofmi 5‘s real crime hits.

Freely – which is run by BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and 5’s Everyone TV – has been adding a number of device partners since bursting onto the scene over a year ago.

Fire TV was a big newcomer but now Roku is getting on board too.

Freely will be available on the next generation of smart TVs powered by the Roku operating system.

Roku can be found on a number of major TV models, such as Sharp, Polaroid, and METZ.

“Offering Freely on the Roku operating system is a major milestone for us, as we continue to expand reach for the free streaming platform,” said Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV.

Just last month, Freely announced some new features to rival premium services like Sky’s own streamed TV alternative Sky Glass.

A new backward TV guide was introduced, allowing people to scroll back on the screen and instantly see what’s been on recently, with a quick link directly to a catch up stream if one is available.

You can scroll back a full seven days.

A Never Miss feature was also added, which highlight programmes coming up, on now, and those you just missed, alongside the biggest and best shows available on demand.

And My List will let you save up to 50 of your favourite shows from the UK’s biggest free-to-air broadcasters all in one place so you can keep track of them.

RECENT CHANNEL ADDITIONS ON FREELY

  • The Chase
  • Saturday Night Every Night
  • 4Reality
  • 4Homes
  • 4Life
  • 5 GPs Behind Closed Doors
  • 5 Bargain
  • 5 The Yorkshire Vet
  • 5 History
  • 5 Crime
  • Milkshake!
  • 5 Police Interceptors
  • 5 Cops
  • 5 Trucking Hell
  • 5 A&E
  • 5 Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly

FREELY ON A STICK?

So far, Freely has only been made available on new smart TVs for sale.

But BBC boss Tim Davie recently hinted that a Fire Stick-like device with Freely on it could come in the future.

“We have been working hard to build digital platforms and content to meet changing audience needs, enriching our offer and welcoming the possibilities of a post broadcast world,” he said during a speech at Salford’s Lowry Theatre.

“We want to double down on Freely as a universal free service to deliver live TV over broadband.

“And we are considering a streaming media device with Freely capabilities built in, with a radically simplified user interface specifically designed to help those yet to benefit from IP services.”

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE WE REPLACE FREEVIEW

Analysis by Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor at The Sun

DTT – digital terrestrial television – is the system used for Freeview broadcasts today.

About 18million homes still use it as their main way of watching TV.

Before we even begin to think about switching it off, we have to make sure no one is left behind.

So any internet-based alternative – Freely or otherwise – needs to be just as easy to install and use.

Then there’s the matter of broadband.

The UK needs to have reliable broadband everywhere so everyone has access.

Emphasis on reliable – no one wants buffering mid-way through a live football match.

So not only will broadband need to be pretty much everywhere it will need to be fast enough to handle demand all the time.

Sunday Brunch in chaos as star ‘pulls out’ last minute and replacement is found

Sunday Brunch faced chaos moments before going live after one artist was seemingly replaced at the last minute

Sunday Brunch was thrown into chaos before going on-air after rocker Yungblud, who is no stranger to the programme, unexpectedly didn’t turn up for his scheduled slot.

In what seemed like a last-minute upset, the no-show occurred despite the artist being advertised on the TV guide as one of the day’s guests for the live show that went out on Sunday, 8th June.

The official Channel 4 summary promised viewers appearances by “Tim Peake, Ben McKenzie, Sian Gibson, and Professor Green. With music from Yungblud.”

Traditionally, musicians set to perform towards the end of the broadcast are seated at the table with other guests before their performance during the rolling credits, yet Yungblud’s absence was stark.

Not only did he miss his spot at the table of celebrities, but it also appeared that his space was swiftly taken over by Jerub, an indie-pop sensation who managed to fill in at what was probably the eleventh-hour, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Tim Lovejoy
Tim failed to mention Yungblud’s no show

Oddly enough, the show’s details failed to mention Jerub, and neither Tim Lovejoy nor Simon Rimmer, the hosts, offered any explanation regarding the sudden change or discussed why Yungblud wasn’t there.

While chatting on the couch with Lovejoy and Rimmer, Jerub acknowledged that it had been a “tight squeeze” to rearrange his schedule to appear in the studio, revealing how excited he was to “make it work” following the producers’ call.

Jerub disclosed that he initially intended to come from Leeds, but owing to some “trains being cancelled”, he was compelled to travel frantically “by car” to ensure he made it to Channel 4 on time.

Tim expressed his gratitude for the guest’s presence, remarking: “It’s a wonder that you made it here, really, isn’t it?” but refrained from elaborating on the circumstances further.

Jerub dazzled fans at the end with his vocals

As the show wrapped up, Jerub stepped into the spotlight to perform his latest track, Deeper, captivating viewers with his vocal talent. The audience seemed unfazed by any changes in the programme, instead flocking to Twitter to praise the touching finale delivered by Jerub.

One admirer tweeted: “What a song. What a beautiful voice, a beautiful ending to Sunday Brunch from Jerub #SundayBrunch.”

Another simply shared their awe: “#sundaybrunch wow,” while yet another new fan declared: “Jerub is a new find! Love him! #SundayBrunch.”

Sunday brunch airs every Sunday on Channel 4, from 10am and can be streamed via My4.

MAFS groom slammed over ‘misogynistic’ post as he shares ‘high standards’ for future girlfriend after bitter show split

MAFS Australia’s Adrian Araouzou has riled up fans after posting a video listing his “high standards” for his future wife.

In a video titled “Unpopular opinion 💁🏻‍♂️”, which he uploaded to Instagram, Adrian was seen eating food on a camp chair by a fire as he wrote across the screen.

He wrote: “High standards because I don’t want my kids to have a mum who’s drunk every weekend, thinks it’s ok to disrespect their body, looks at doing anything for their man as a chore, has no faith in God, or prioritises material things over nature’s beauty. ”

Fans weren’t best pleased with the message, and made sure he knew it in the comments.

“what do you bring to the table though…” said one, while another wrote: “Misogynistic manosphere springs to mind… Andrew Tate!”

“Good luck with that.. maybe u should join the priesthood.. no woman would touch u now with your attitude,” noted a third.

“You must also meet these requirements. Not only your future wife!” wrote a fourth.

The 31-year-old reality star appeared on the 12th season of the dating show favourite, marrying Awhina Rutene in the experiment.

However, while they initially seemed to like each other when they met at the altar, things went south quickly when Awhina revealed she had a six-year-old son.

He later became central to cheating speculation with another bride, Sierah, after they were seen playing footsie under the table at a dinner.

While they didn’t actually cheat, Adrian later left the experiment for a small period of time, leaving Awhina before eventually returning to complete the show.

He also was criticised for making his new wife cry in other scenes after refusing to take part in writing a confession letter.

MAFS Australia star Dave Hand reveals heartbreaking truth behind his marriage breakdown

At the Final Vows the pair decided to break things off, thinking they wouldn’t work.

However, in a strange twist, before the show was over they had their mind and opted to give their relationship a proper shot away from the series.

Unfortunately they didn’t work out, and since the show aired they have both remained single.
