The Netflix series focuses on Britain’s worst murder case

Netflix UK enthusiasts are sounding the alarm for their American counterparts, cautioning that they might not be fully braced for the platform’s upcoming major true crime docu-series.

The documentary series, set to arrive on the streaming service later this month, delves into the chilling tales of two of Britain’s most infamous serial killers, reports Surrey Live.

The programme will have a similar structure to the Conversations With a Killer series, where audiences will listen to the harrowing confessions made by the killers during police interrogations.

While the case is notorious in the UK and has etched itself into the country’s collective memory, those across the Atlantic may be unaware of the horrific extent these murderers went to satisfy their perverse and sadistic urges.

Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story is slated to hit Netflix on May 14, with the three-part series chronicling the horrific acts perpetrated by the murderous couple.

Following the release of a trailer by Netflix, viewers flocked to YouTube’s comments section to express their thoughts, with one user writing: “Oh dear the Americans aren’t ready for this.”

Another from the UK warned: “I’m from [the UK] and Fred and rose west what they did is beyond terrifying and worse than any other horror film, like beyond dark, be warned [sic].”

A second chimed in: “This is the kind of horrific story that will stick with you. Still so surprised not too many people know about it, especially in America.”

Meanwhile, a third shared their own unsettling experience: “I’ve seen the doc about Rose, only. I don’t think a crime documentary has scared me so much.”

One commenter posted: “A lot of people don’t seem to know about these two, at least outside the UK. It’s terrifying.”

The mention of Fred and Rose West sent a chill down the spines of many who were previously unfamiliar with the case.

Underneath, one user hesitantly inquired: “Do you think they were worse than Jeffrey Dahmer?”.

Other responses were laced with unease; “Ok I’m scared now” and “that bad? [sic]” reflected a growing sense of discomfort.

One cautious individual commented: “Thank you I caught this comment before watching and I think that’s for the best.”

However, a user from the southern United States chimed in with a contrasting perspective: “Im southern US…..have studied this case. You’re right….we are NOT ready! Imma watch though [sic].”

The Wests’ crimes still elicit a morbid fascination, given their grotesque nature and the couple’s unnerving ability to evade capture for years.

It wasn’t until police received an anonymous tip about a rape victim that their atrocities finally came to light.

A seemingly innocuous family joke led police to investigate further, only for the West children to reveal their sister Heather West’s alleged presence ‘under the patio’, setting in motion a disturbing series of discoveries.

As a result of their gruesome crimes, 25 Cromwell Street infamously earned the press’s ‘House of Horrors’ nickname, immortalising the infamous address in British crime history.
