JoJo Siwa sent Celebrity Big Brother fans wild when she told Chris Hughes to give her “48 hours” – and now she has finally revealed what she really meant in a new podcast interview
JoJo Siwa has finally opened up about her cryptic “48 hours” comment to Chris Hughes during their time in the Celebrity Big Brother house. In scenes that aired just days before the CBB final, viewers saw JoJo and Chris share an emotional moment as they reminisced on their time on the show.
JoJo seemed unsettled after receiving a letter from home, which was from her mother but included a short but pointed update from her former partner, Australian actor Kath Ebbs. Jessalyn Siwa wrote: “The most important thing to tell you is a message from Kath because I know you really miss them the most. Kath’s keen to see you when you get out.”
Although this sounded like a sweet message to viewers, JoJo later confessed to Jack P Shepherd that the wording left her anxious. She told him: “I’m finding myself really analysing that note and I don’t like it.”
The American star later elaborated on that in the Diary Room, adding: “They didn’t even say in the note that they love me. I will not let them live that down.”
Shortly after, JoJo had a cryptic exchange with Chris, telling him she needed “48 hours” before she could tell him about something that was weighing on her mind. Fans immediately began speculating about what that was, and some thought she was planning to confess her feelings for the Love Island alum.
Now JoJo has explained her words while on The Useless Hotline podcast with Max Balegde and George Clarke. When asked what the most difficult moment on the show was for her she responded: “There’s a moment where I spoke to Chris, I said ‘give me 48 hours and I’ll tell you.’ What I was feeling in that moment was the hardest, because that was when I had a real realisation in my life that I needed to for myself fix, personally fast. I needed to handle essentially immediately.”
When asked whether she shared more details with anyone else in the house, JoJo confirmed she kept it private. She added: “I just told him that little bit. He could see something was going on. That was something that I had been thinking about since day three. It engulfed me.”
She admitted the decision she was facing was not one to be taken lightly, also hinting at it being unpleasant by sharing: “I’ve got to do something as soon as I get out that I really am not looking forward to.”
Although JoJo did not clarify what she was referring to while on the podcast, it now seems that the thing she needed to handle was breaking up with her partner at the time.
Kath has spoken out since the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party, revealing they were “hurt” and “humiliated” after being dumped by JoJo just hours after flying to London to support her.
In a candid Instagram video, Kath shared: “Before I could get back to the hotel with my I guess now ex, I was dumped at the party. I was told there were confused feelings there and they realised I wasn’t the person they wanted to spend the foreseeable [future] with.”
Fans had noticed JoJo’s increasingly close bond with Chris Hughes throughout the series, with the pair sharing massages, cuddles, and even forehead kisses.
JoJo has always been open about her sexuality, and admitted that she was questioning her identity while on CBB, telling her housemates: “I think I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, and I think being here I’ve realized, ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer.’”
