Celebrity Big Brother star Sir Michael Fabricant has claimed that axed housemate Micky Rourke said a lot more that ‘could not be broadcast’ before he was removed from the house
Former Celebrity Big Brother star Sir Michael Fabricant has revealed that axed housemate Micky Rourke, 72, said a lot “which could not be broadcast” before being sensationally removed from the house over the weekend.
Rourke, 72, agreed to leave the ITV1 show at the weekend after “further use of inappropriate language” and “instances of unacceptable behaviour”.
He was first warned by Big Brother after using “unacceptable language and behaviour” towards JoJo following homophobic comments about her sexuality. He then proceeded to use “sexual language” towards The Only Way Is Essex star Ella Rae Wise, and “language and behaviour” that “was threatening and aggressive” towards Love Island star Chris Hughes.
Sir Michael, who was the first contestant to leave the show this year, has now claimed not every offensive comment Rourke made during his time in the house aired on TV.
During a discussion on Twitter (X) on Monday, the former Tory MP responded to a fan questioning why “people can’t even use the word fag anymore” when referring to cigarettes. Last week, Rourke claimed he was using the term to refer to smoking after making homophobic remarks about JoJo.
“Yeah, but that wasn’t said in isolation,” Sir Michael replied to the Twitter user recalling Rourke’s use of the slur. “There was a lot more, some of which could not be broadcast.”
In a conversation during his first few days in the Celebrity Big Brother house, Rourke probed JoJo, asking: “Where’s the smoke room? Where’s the cigarette room? ,” and then inquiring: “Do you like girls or boys?”.
JoJo answered: “Me? Girls. My partner is non-binary,” It’s then that Rourke made a shocking remark: “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” Unfazed, JoJo ensured him: “I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and I’ll still be in a very happy relationship.”
Later, as Rourke headed out to the garden, he questioned Chris about eviction choices. He told the Love Island legend: “I’m going to vote the lesbian out real quick.” Overhearing this, JoJo confronted him, stating: “That’s homophobic, if that was your reasoning.”
Chris attempted to intervene, cautioning Mickey, “You can’t do that Mickey,” but Rourke repeated his earlier sentiment. He then added, “I need a fag,” while gesturing dismissively towards JoJo, prompting Chris to intercede again, insisting: “Mickey, you can’t say that.
“I know. I was talking about a cigarette,” Mickey snapped back, leaving JoJo visibly perturbed by his homophobia while Chris attempted to console her.
Rourke’s eventual exit came after he was saved by the public when he was put up for eviction on Friday alongside former Tory MP Sir Michael and Coronation Street star Jack.
Before leaving, Mickey apologised and said: “I stepped over the line. And I take responsibility for doing the wrong thing. Because I lost my temper, and I’ve been trying to work on it my whole life and I wish I would have had better self-control and I’m very sorry.”
In the wake of Rourke’s dismissal, EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer has received the most nominations from the Big Brother housemates and will be up for eviction alongside Corrie star Jack P Shepherd and TV presenter Trisha Goddard.
The nominations come ahead of Tuesday night’s live evictions where the public will vote on a housemate to eject from the Big Brother House. One of the housemates that put Patsy up for eviction was Dance Moms star Jojo Siwa.
Jojo said: “Patsy has been an asset to the house. She’s been cooking, she’s been beautiful, she’s been amazing. But I have seen a side of Patsy that has been a bit, I like to call it finger pointy. I think team players are what we need in the house, and I think Patsy hasn’t really shown that in the last few days.”
Trisha and Jack both received four nominations each, with Trisha being nominated Chesney Hawkes, Chris Hughes, Ella Rae Wise and Patsy while Jack was selected by Angellica Bell, Danny Beard, Donna Preston and Trisha.
Celebrity Big Brother will return to ITV1 on Tuesday at 9pm.
